Awesome illumination. I would also like to go for similar modification.
Have you converted your bike to DC? How is the connection CKT done? Is the HID Duel Beam (Hi/Low)?
No I did not convert into DC. The bulb is connected to the battery through a relay. It is a single beam bulb.

      ya... It has to be...

      Cost:
Rs. 2300 for bulb, 150 for labour.
I had to replace battery : Rs. 1550
After the battery drain problem, relay was fixed
100 for relay, 250 for wiring, labour

Guys the problem is back.. Now even after fixing the relay, it could not be resolved. Battery drains out completely in 10 min. Can anyone help me to fix this problem?

That is what I was thinking. Relay for a 35W HID solves battery problem? No way!

You need a custom rectifier to utilize the 40W or so coming from the lighting coil to the headlight, which you have kept disconnected now. There is a thread running on the subject. Look it up.

And, NO, you don't need a rewinding job for a puny 35W HID!

Thanks abhijeet.. That means it is as good as converting the entire electricals into DC. Let me check with the other thread... But my question is whether all HID installations are done the same way.. If yes, why such a common problem is not talked much about..

              • ^^I guess that is because HID is commonly done on full DC bikes like Zma, P220, R15 etc.

Hey guyz... Just joined in with my 2003 Enticer with a headlight problem.
I dont know how stupid it sounds but i have not had a solution for this for some time.

Current - Std Parabolic Reflector with 12 vot 35 watt bulb

I m looking for change in the bulb.... if that gives me more light.... The yamaha guys told me the wirring might not be able to take it.....my next door mechanic tells me...

"Who says higher wattage bulb will give ore light....."

Guys any solution... I have been hitting the roads earlier but with bad light ahead... now being hight time.....

                  Any Halogen-etic suggestions...... solutions.....

                    • I am looking to buy a Osram Nightbreaker for my P180 UG3.. Would there be any problem?? I am changing the smaller parking lights to LEDs to compensate for the power difference..

Secondly, if its fine then I am looking for somebody to share costs with also. As I am getting it as a pair(single piece not available) for 1100 bucks. Anybody interested?

                      • @fasterthanfastest -I think the P180 has ac electricals so without increasing alternator output by rewinding or changing the coil the NB bulb wont glow to its full potential . If u just want some little better difference in illumination then why dont you go for Philips 55w bulbs . they cost around 250 only .

                        • I m willing to shell out cash if the output can be increased.. but just a little better wont help.. had heard about the nightbreaker online so was interested.. not sure how helpful the philips would be..wat to do now..??

                          • Without the Avenger Stator Coil Mod, any upgrade in bulbs would be useless.

aarunn, how would you rate the performance of the Nightbreaker? What did you have earlier on the bike, a 55/60 Halogen or the stock bulb?
