the one that i had was only with the low beam.I had it only for a week, before my friend thrashed the bike.I think the stock reflectors can bear the heat.

FZ is definately the best looking bike in the Indian market rite now...

However the FZ headlight if fixed properly on another bike with the matching colors (silver) is quite neat looking... something different than the usual round headlights

It all depends on person to person... afterall we all have different tastes and likes

4300K, would be the best balance between visibility and coolness, but 5000K give perfectly White light, and the added oomph effect!

            Yes, it's H7, single beam.

I m going for 5000k,can u tell me how would it be installed and my friend said me to install a separate switch for that, should i intall it for low beam or high beam?
              will HIDs void the warranty?

Buy a Car HID, so one can be used as high beam and the other as low beam. Switches are not needed at all, as the HID draws power directly from Battery, and does not affect bike's electrical.

Speaking about actually installing it in a 220, it's Plug and Play, but I would suggest you ask user Pranay, as he's using a pair of HID's on his 220 for long.

Fitments cost should not be more than 200 bucks. You can also buy a Chinese make HID with 2 bulbs, which should not be more than 6K at max! Else you can buy a single H7 HID, which should be cheap as well, but the fun is on both the beams.

In case you go for any one the beams, I would suggest high beam, even if you have Lens on lower one!

I want to go for the philips one. Since both bulbs would come at abt. 12k(philips),i would go for the single H7 one.
And what is the lens as u have stated in "even if u have lens on lower one"? What is the cost of philips HIDs(single bulb 5000k H7)?

                      • My friend said me that if u install 1 bulb in either the higher beam or the lower beam,u wouldn't be able to flash it and can't switch easily between the low beam and the high beam as HIDs take time to charge! Is it true?

If its true, then this is a great news for me.
will i loose warranty on fitting the HIDs on a p220?

The lower beam is parabolic/ellipsoidal projector. So, the HID should benefit from the projector setup. But at the same time, on highways, or just to force oncoming trucks to lower their beam you use the high beam, where HID is more needed. In city we generally use low beam. So if you are mostly a city rider, you may fit in lower beam, else high beam.

Yes, HID's do take about 3 to 10 seconds to achieve full brightness. Simply if you have a HID in your high beam, it takes that much time to get to full brightness. But even initial brightness is enough. And it doesn't matter whether you HID's in one or both the beams, if it's high beam, it will take at least 3 seconds to be bright. Even if you have HID's in both the beams the same problem will occur.

I doubt, it would genuine Philips. 8 months back, original car HID kit was about 14K. You do get so called "BOSCH" and "Philips" ones, with one year warranty, but they aren't genuine.

I guess, now days, it should be around 8 to 10K!

Thanks for ur suggestions,i would fit it into the low beam. But i have one doubt, while initial charging,do HIDs produce much less illumination as they do after 3-10 seconds of getting on? Is there a major difference?
