That guy's father has car accessory shop , and moreover box packaging looked genuine with warranty card ...Originally posted by rahuldevnath View PostI doubt, it would genuine Philips. 8 months back, original car HID kit was about 14K. You do get so called "BOSCH" and "Philips" ones, with one year warranty, but they aren't genuine.
I guess, now days, it should be around 8 to 10K!

I would say the differences is huge! But even at the point of switching on, HID' would give you 70% illumination compared to your stock bulb, and in about 8 seconds it would overtake to about 180%!!Originally posted by Aditya-biking pro View PostThanks for ur suggestions,i would fit it into the low beam. But i have one doubt, while initial charging,do HIDs produce much less illumination as they do after 3-10 seconds of getting on? Is there a major difference?
Then of course it's a different thing. BTW where's his shop, can he help us?Originally posted by abhifusion View PostThat guy's father has car accessory shop , and moreover box packaging looked genuine with warranty card ...

Originally posted by M.R.B View PostYou may consider checking your battery voltage and also the charge voltage supplied by the Alternator...
I am also having a similar prob (I Do not have HID ) and post diagnosis problem turned out to be a battery in the verge of extinction...[
].
Additionally it would be a good choice to get the wiring checked for any issues at a ASC or a knowledgeable mechanic.
This might be due to another fact that Apache 150 Alternator is consist of stator of 90 Watt two phase. One phase is for Headlight and one phase for Battery recharging.
If A stator power is claimed 100 Watt; in real time power production is arround 80 Watt. That is 80% efficiency. Which is a industry wide acceptable standard.
When you are not using the A/C powred Head Light the possilility is that the power developed by the Head Light phase in the stator is getting wasted. What might be gogin into the battery is 45Watts ( 90W/2)
.
Which further come down if we consider 80% efficiency
.
Calculating the output from the battery (The DC componenst of the motorcycle) is
- 35Watt ---------------------HID
- 10/21 Watt ---------------Tail/ Break light
- 10 Watt X 4 ---------------Indicators 4 Nos
- Horn
So if we do the above calculation it clearly indicates that Power in to the Battery <Power out of the battery. If the power in is <power out battery drain will be inevitable.
Thanks buddy... that's the most plausible explanation I could get, atleast for now... The worry is the difficulty in finding a good mechanic in Mumbai who understands the blue print of the electricals...

Unicorn tail lamp cluster query
Yesterday,I had to replace tail lamp bulb and when the cluster was removed..i noticed that it had a red plastic clear lens beneath the clear outer lens. Both are separate pieces.so, my question is if i can get my hands on a red stop bulb..then i can have a clear lens tail lamp unit after removing the red lens inside.

4300k should work fine.If you can afford the hi-low type then you can go ahead with it.
The best branded H.I.D would be Philips
I guess You can upgrade to a 9 ah battery, dont know if there would be any complicationsSocha Toh Locha.

Honda Unicorn headlight help!
I see you discussing about HID lamps for bikes. However, I wanted a better light than the stock without any modification. Keeping the RR stock and the holder, can somebody suggest a better bulb for my Uni?
I know my question might sound dumb, however, do not want to mod any since I always wanted to have my bike in stock with better quality parts.
Any suggestions??
I live in Chennai.

I have a GS150R in Pune. GS has a 9AH battery, so I think supporting HID shouldn't be an issue.
1. Where can I find a good mech in Pune to fit HID on the bike?
2. Bike has H4 bulb. But I have got a projector lamp from Skoda (low beam), which takes H3 bulbs. Can the bulb holders be changed on the kit, or is the kit fixed to a particular bulb type.
3. I read some guy near market yard fits HID with 1yr warranty, it costs 3500rs. Is it advisable to go to him or to get a buddy, get a pair of HIDs and pay only for fitment?
Please advise.
Just found on alibaba.com about this MAHARASHTRA LIGHT industry, located in Hadapsar. Any experience?Last edited by animeher; 09-08-2009, 05:11 PM.

You can get all the info from Manjeet bhaiaOriginally posted by darkknight View Postso aman...what's the cost involved in this..what all testing have you done post fitment with regards to battery usage..
also the site mentions that performance upgrades are done ....
can you specify those escpecially for the R15.
I am involved in different kind of projects like converting my thunderbird 350cc push rod drive engine into 476cc chain derive engine. this was few of the projects i have done with him.
And we did this mod on many bikes and no one complained yet
.
BTW Bhai we are not doing in house R&D this is just a cosmetic mod nothing else
