HID lamps & for my unicorn in Chennai

Guys

1. Where can i buy & install HID headlamp kit for my unicorn in chennai,also wats the price range,the best possible rating and modifications to be done for my unicorn..all i know for now is that it has to be 35w assy.
2. My uni's headlight cowl is broke and so am thinking of fixing my headlights the FZ way(no fairings)..how can i get it done??
3. Can someone from chennai suggest me a good mechanic to do the same & for regular servicing as well....with reference if possible????

well just a small suggestion,i had seen a unicorn with a fz headlight and seriously it looked very bad.I'd suggest u go ahead with ambitions headlight(round),amazing spread.Using it now, sans the h.i.d though.

Performance will be good. But the light may dim slightly below 3k rpm. Other than that, its all good!

The ambitions unit on ur bike looks good man especially with thoe twin pod meters...i guess u had to get the clamps done for the unit and the blinkers! Is it still the same 35w bulb or a 55w one???and wat meters are those on urs??

Even after fixing cut out, the problem was not solved... Neither did it, after introducing another switch between the HID adapter and battery (previously switch was between adapter and bulb). I feel royally f****d up! Now I don't have all the time on the earth to research and convert the electricals to DC by myself. Have to wait till I find a reliable mechanic....

You may consider checking your battery voltage and also the charge voltage supplied by the Alternator...

I am also having a similar prob (I Do not have HID ) and post diagnosis problem turned out to be a battery in the verge of extinction...[].

Additionally it would be a good choice to get the wiring checked for any issues at a ASC or a knowledgeable mechanic.

This might be due to another fact that Apache 150 Alternator is consist of stator of 90 Watt two phase. One phase is for Headlight and one phase for Battery recharging.

If A stator power is claimed 100 Watt; in real time power production is arround 80 Watt. That is 80% efficiency. Which is a industry wide acceptable standard.

When you are not using the A/C powred Head Light the possilility is that the power developed by the Head Light phase in the stator is getting wasted. What might be gogin into the battery is 45Watts ( 90W/2).

Which further come down if we consider 80% efficiency .

Calculating the output from the battery (The DC componenst of the motorcycle) is

• 35Watt ---------------------HID
• 10/21 Watt ---------------Tail/ Break light
• 10 Watt X 4 ---------------Indicators 4 Nos
• Horn

So if we do the above calculation it clearly indicates that Power in to the Battery <Power out of the battery. If the power in is <power out battery drain will be inevitable.

The speedo comes with a bracket that just have to be bent .Its a perfect fit.

Coil Rewinding

I see that theres a lack of faith with rewinding a coil..Just to give an idea...used to own a 86'rx100 which has a 6V electrical unit..I had it converted to 12V and had the 100/90 philips halogen in a autopal doom/reflector.The casing used was the yezdi roadking's and it was utter bliss at night..So good that i did a night ride from b'lore-coimbatore in 6 hrs flat way back in 1997.
The modification was done in coimbatore and its a common overthere as in lots of mech's do this..

SO IT SHOULD BE RELATIVELY EASY TO DO IT ON THE CURRENT 12V BIKES...IF THE MECH HAS DECENT KNOWLEDGE.
