well bulbs are used in p 220,both in high beam and low beam are h7 bulbs, these are single filament construction, here is a picture
      .
the bulbs are from halonix which cost from 110 onwards.the newer models are coming with a white bulb which having a blue coating on the bulb which helps to read roadsigns and road markings better but a bit worse in rain.all the bulbs are rated 55 watts.the same bulb is widely used in newer tata indica vista.

upgread options are from phillips xtram power/osram night breaker which helps a 10-20 percent increase in light,.

the best upgread option is to opt for hids,35 watt 4300k,the light output is 3-4 times then the stranded bulb.

      hope this helps

Today i went hunting for auxiliary lamps and all of them have only H3 bulbs. Is this my only option??

Recommend me a good bulb for my TVS Victor Edge

Hi friends... i am a great xbhp lover... But i didnt have chances to give my views to solve queries of others, as the xbhp'ians are much talented...

Coming to the point... My query is, i want to fit a Head lamp bulb, which offers me a better visibility in Highways as well as City conditions...

                Conditions:
                1. It should not affect the battery much. (consume less/moderate power from battery).
                2. Should be Legally Valid. (Should not get caught by cops).
                3. Must be easily fitted by the local mechanics.
                4.Better bulb life.

I am confused with HID, Halogen...

Can you please recommend me the best fit for my bike... I would be happy if you post me some pics and the price...

Thanks in advance... Waiting for someone to help!!!

                    Hi,
I am new to xBhp and need some help on headlamps for my Yamaha Fazer 153. I have got the battery, used in Yamaha R15, fixed on my Fazer and use both the lamps in low beam. The current configuration is the standard 35W/35W however I am keen to go for a more powerful combination. With very little knowledge on the electricals, I am not sure about the best combination. It would be great if I could get some help here. Also, would be great if you could suggest a place in Pune where I can get this modification done. Thanks.

Assume that Victor Edge is an AC+DC setup. If your HL bulb flickers in idling, then its AC, if its steady at any rpm, its on DC. THis is the easiest way to find out the AC/DC lighting.

If you need a legal upgrade then go for a 55/60W halogen from a reputed brand like Philips or Osram. Halonix is a waste of money. But before that you may need to rewind the coils to support 55W. Older versions of TVS bikes were capable of handling a 55W without any issues in stock condition but not sure about the new gen electricals. So all I can say is borrow a 55W halogen from ur mechanic and test with that, if ur bike can glow to its full brightness then go for a good bulb fit and forget. It wont even touch ur warranty incase if ur bike is under warranty.

Using a HID on the stock reflectors are not legal and it will eat up a good chunk of battery once u switch it. And you may need to change to full DC if the electricals are AC.

                      Hope this clarifies.

sorry to differ but the battery is in r 15 is 3.5 amps and in fazer its 9 amps i suppose.both bike s are capable to handle one hid with ease,no problem but 2 hid in a fazer is a bit of overlaod specially if the rpm is less then 4.5k rpm.
in case of yamaha r 15 its 5k and above it can pull 2 hids.

remember its not the battery its the charging that matters.......

                          • Fazer headlamps

Then, I need to check the battery details again. I had got the R15 battery fixed on the Fazer from the Yamaha Factory Shop at Wakdewadi in Pune. Actually I had bought FZ16 and got it converted to Fazer later. So, the mechanic at the factory shop advised me that I should go for R15 battery if I need both the lights on at low beam, which I did. Now, since there is confusion on R15 Amp being lower than Fazer, I need to check on how to go for HID. But, at least, thanks for the good news that I can fit the HID on Fazer to begin with. I do visit Probiker and he did mention that he could fix it however I want to be absolutely sure to avoid any issues in future.

                            Thanks anyways
