Just want to know based on the previous experience of fellow bulleteers will 500cc classic will be a overkill for me? as said i m 65kg and 5 feet 7 inch..

    Thanks in advance..
It's on you whether you want a short TR or Big one. After all you are buying a bike which is >Rs 1L+
And I am 5.5' ft and no issues with any RE bike while riding. Have seen skiny people riding RE !!

If you are not satisfied from TR then take multiple TR and then decide. All people have their own taste and dislikes. But the real realtionship would be from your choice and comfort.

RE is not at all for city ride..But still people ride it. So TR and satisfy your self and buy what ever you want.

For long tours TBTS models are best. IF you want RE in city then Electra/CL/STD are better then TBTS.

If pillion and self ride comfort is important then Electra/STD is more better then CL.

    • Guys, got my new TB 350 on Saturday 15, drove it for 24 Kms only, I like the performance of the bike a lot, the feeling was WOW!!! But the sad story of the day is went I reached home parked the bike, the RVM (right side) glass cracked! right in the middle. This really dent my spirit. Since it was late, could not talk to the dealer, spoke to him the next day, and brief him of this uncommon phenomenon which have never heard or happened before. Well, could not diagnosed the cause of the cracked RVM, but when examined closely, it looks like the whole assembly(plastic part) of the RVM is slightly bend, maybe production defective. Well, the dealer, said he will look into it to replace it with a new one. Since, I was too occupied with other works could not visit the dealer. If you guys do have some kind of explanation to this event please do.

Thanks all.. I guess ill mostly go for classic chrome ( black) as dealer said one booking got cancelled and I can get it delivered in a week or two. Hopefully things will move forward without any hiccups...

Always loved the DS color, saw one in the morning, looked impressive ( saw one last week at night, kinda looked dull).. hope my choice of chrome can match or surpass that

I'm from Mumbai and my ride will be mostly office commuting, 50 to 60 km per day. Initially decided 350cc for FE, but why not a higher cc if I'm gonna spend > 1l and looking at a long term investment

        Will post my experience soon..

          • Finally got my "Black Chrome" home... Awesome feeling and proud to own this one..

Now, can someone guide me how to keep this one tidy and clean

            1) Already arranged a cleaner who wash one day and just clean it the other day
            2) How to make the chrome stay intact and not forming rust? Should i go for teflon coating?
            3) Also is it advisable to buy a wax polish (Turtle Wax T478 Ice Chrome Wheel Cleaner - 22 Ounc-ATU | eBay) like this and wax it once a week

I know we can only do a little to safeguard the bike

            Any suggestion always welcome

            • Would it take a longer time to get a RE 350cc delivered if its booked from a Canteen Stores Department?!?

              Comment

              • Generally it takes 1.5-2 months of time for CL350 and less then that for any other model.. There was a post by a member who got it CL350 in 20 days!

I had enquired about this an year back when I had got a CL500. When asked the Pune dealer Dhone auto told me that the waiting would be the same as normal route. Only the process of payment and delivery through CSD would be different and that it would take additional waiting of 1 month for the bike to be delivered after completing all formalities. Also the CSD route has some binding clauses when you buy a bike through them. Might be a good idea to check those in detail. This was what was told in my case. Don't know if it actually happens as I didn't go the CSD route. The main plus point of the CSD I think is the price difference.

Very True- "Motorcycling is not, of itself, inherently dangerous. It is, however, extremely unforgiving of inattention, ignorance, incompetence, or stupidity."

I like- "Bikes are not supposed to be a rational decision. If you can park it and walk away without looking back to admire it, you got the wrong one."

Then how will you buy the bike ? Because only working army person can buy it from canteen I guess, never mind.

Spoke to the army friend who got his CL350 in 2 months. Some of his friends got it in 4,5 and 7 months also. But no one in his colony got it more than 7 months.

He order it through canteen. Canteen person had told him army canteen gets first priority than any customer in any segment. So once your formalities are done. Formalities don't take much time.. recently Same friend got his Honda City in 1 month with all formalities and car. Infact he had got his Cl350 less by 5-7k from market price.

                            1) Yes, the officer who is currently serving.
                            2) No, CSD does not have any priority, yes they have different setup for buying vehicles but not priority.
                            3) Formalities takes a week's time, bro got his bike with all formalities in three days time.
                            4) Yes, quite possible.
                            5) Less than market price? what do you think Defense Officers have special discounts, i mean yes they do but not for vehicles? Lol Somen. Listen carefully on the last point of yours, very helpful knowledge.

CSD offers vehicles at Ex Showroom price - The officer in whose name the vehicle is named has to go to RTO and Insurance Company to do the needful. CSD does not cater to RTO neither Insurance, Officers have an advantage of getting it registered in any RTO (The place they are serving), their vehicles do not require special passing when transferred to other place. They can drive or ride their vehicles without worrying about different city registration unless they plan to retire and use the vehicle for long term requirements.

EDIT- the choice of buying a car is also less from CSD, it does not allow purchasing high-end vehicles like CIVIC or 3 Series or a C Class. Also, the current state of affairs have stopped the purchasing of vehicles, they are only given once you submit the need which should be considered by Deputy Directorate General Canteen Services (DDGCS)

                              • Diamond Crash Bar In Black For New Thunderbird

Royal Enfield Zone [aka Chawla Auto Spares, Karol Bagh, Delhi] have this diamond crash bar in black, which suits the black theme of the new Thunderbirds. I heard that the diamond crash bar obstructs the new Thunderbird front foot-peg. But, Chawla Auto Spares have confirmed that it would fit perfectly and quoted a price of Rs 1850 including shipping to Bangalore. Anybody, who owns the new Thunderbird fitted the diamond crash bar, may please share their experience.
