That might be due to too manu advanced bookings of the bike.
Even one of my friends booked a TBTS 4 months back, the expected delivery was in feb 1'st week.
When we visited the showroom, they said, old model is out of production. Still to wait for 3-4 months :-(
In one showroom i asked for a Classic 350, They said to wait for 18 Months. Hehehe...

        • I am posting this on 15 MAR 2013, so your issue may have been solved.
Try cleaning the affected part with Carbon Tetrachloride. It will dissolve the Rubber/plastic deposit.

Now, it was 1 year waiting time from the date of booking for the Royal enfiled delivery. I'm not sure about the model's but the news I got to know from my colleague yesterday. Does any one know about the waiting time? Is there any chance to get it delivered soon?

Hey Tejas, There is one dedicated Owner Ship Thread for Enfield, please post it there, you will get better inputs from owners.

If you know the dealer well you can get it in less than a 3~4 months. If you dont know him, get acquainted

                    • Is a new Royal Enfield Bullet 500 good?

                      Dear Bikers

I need your valuable advice on buying a Royal Enfield Bullet 500 [2013 carb]. I am newbie and very much loved the Bullet legacy and booked the new 500 carb without even taking a test ride.
But now I have test ridden it twice, but I am not finding anything in it to die for. Looks are good.
                      The problems I face:

                      1. Lot of vibrations at handlebar. The main deal breaker.
                      2. Lot of mechanical noise from engine. Would a different silencer do the trick?
                      3. I don't get a feeling that I am riding a bullet [compared to old]. Feels like engine components are loosely put together.

Experienced bikers please advice me on why to go for a new bullet other than the looks and legacy. I need to shell out upwards of 1.5 Lakhs for it. But I am not finding it worth. Would the upcoming Hyosung GV250 a better bet? Is the bullet designed for off road riding? Is it durable?

Is the Desert Storm 500 any good? In my opinion, Its the best looking of all.

I would suggest that you test ride all the RE bikes available at the showroom. This way you will get to know the character of all the bikes and will be able form an opinion better. For instance if you are looking for less vibrations try the TB 500, it feels more smoother and refined than the rest.
I have been riding Classic 500 for last two years (over 30000kms)and have done all possible things imaginable with it, be it non stop high speed riding, offroading, trails etc. Not even once I have faced any issue with it. You just need to take a little bit care of it, it is not your regular fill it forget it types.

But now I have test ridden it twice, but I am not finding anything in it to die for. yes it does not ride like the old Bullet, however this engine is a lot more reliable and wont let you down that easily. Looks are good.
                              The problems I face:

                              1. Lot of vibrations at handlebar. The main deal breaker. Vibrations are a part of the RE package, a 350CC engine would start giving ugly vibrations after 80Kmph and a 500CC after 100Kmph. But you dont ride a RE at Vmax speeds.
                              2. Lot of mechanical noise from engine. Would a different silencer do the trick? mechanical noise?, i'm not sure what you are trying to refer to, is it that you want to say that the engine is a 'puttering' engine as a honda or other modern engines, again a RE package.
                              3. I don't get a feeling that I am riding a bullet [compared to old]. Feels like engine components are loosely put together. I dont know a lot of technicalities about this, but it just wont ride like the old bullet, so if you want the old bullet, get it. But be ready to look after her even more..

But I am not finding it worth. Its all about your heart, what your heart says, bullet can never be a choice if the decision is taken by what ur brain thinks. 1.5L is a big amount, yes. Don't expect a great deal of acceleration or the smoothness, but the joy of riding one overcomes it (again your heart overtakes here).

Would the upcoming Hyosung GV250 a better bet? Is the bullet designed for off road riding? Is it durable? Don't know much about Hyosung GV250, but spares wont be cheap for sure, it will be difficult to get it repaired at any mechainc about a corner.

Is the Desert Storm 500 any good? In my opinion, Its the best looking of all. Looks are subjective, recently a service center mechanic (whom i have known for about a year) told me that the thunderbirds and classics have got some or the other issues, best bet is to go with the Standard model. CHOICE IS YOURS
