Your best bet to get your bike ASAP is if you book @ Brand Store Jayanagar 9th BLock. But if you have any contacts(relatives/friends etc) in some of the northern districts try it there you might get it within 6~8 months instead of 1+ year wait here in Blore. Some of my friends booked it in Shimoga and got it within 6months. of course you will have to deal with registration and all with RTOs over there. Hey just an FYI

RE Std 350 vs RE Classic 500

Guys, please help me buy a RE.

I am planning to buy the bike through CSD.

I initially had decided on the getting the Electra as it had the original bullet looks and the modern features of the Classic but now i called the RE showroom to get to know about the cost and all and they said that only the Std 350 and the Classis 500 are available through CSD. I then had a look on the Std 350 and found it to be a similar model like the electra but anyhow the looks didnt strike and also the bike doesnt have disk brakes, gas charged shockers and gives a little less fuel economy than the Electra. I have driven the CL 500 and the bike is a beast. Its got a mind blowing engine. Loved the test drive on the bike but the fuel economy is very less and the cost difference is high.

I have to drive around 40 km a day and I am only a college going student so fuel economy does matter to me. Also the Cl 500 is prized 55k more than the Std 350. Is it worth the 55k more. I would go on very few road trips till i am in college.

I know that the Std 350 would be a better option but i dont know why but i dont find it right. ( I have not had a very close look on the Std and also never driven it), and the advantage of Cl 500 is that it gives a Urban look.

Guys what would you do? Help me decide.

P.S. I have another bike which would help me on the fuel economy part to not burn my pockets on petrol.

Hey dude!! You have written so confusing post !!

Once you say that CL is costlier, FE is less and is it worth??
Second you say CL is a beast, urban looks, etc ..


IF FE would be taken care by your other spare bike then Are you still in state of spending 1.7L for a RE CL500 ??
Are you ready if you get 25-35kmpl FE range ??

For STD, average is same as Electra, because they share same engine UCE. STD or Electra or CL won't give you FE more than 35-40kmpl. Better you assume it as 35-38kmpl, if you get 40kmpl then you are lucky!!


Get one thing straight RE is not for speed, cornering or FE...So if you talk any terms from these over RE then it's better you look for other bike!!

As you are a college Student, Frankly speaking RE would drill your pocket in all sides, Maintenance as well as Fuel!!

RE needs special care, though some of it's older issues have been sorted out!!

CL500 is out of your question straight, Think over STD/Electra/CL.

My bet for a college student would be Electra.

I know my post is as confusing as i am right now. I would have gone in for the electra but CSD doesnt have the electra. My options are only the Std and CL.

I would go for std.Who needs electric start in a bullet?Save some money for fuel,some cosmetic mods etc!

If you can bare the cost and maintenance then any day CL500 or DS is much better option in RE today, coz it has FI and mamooth torque!!

My Classic may be delivered soon...Please tell me what to keep in mind before taking the delivery ..
