Can I bring my bone stock and ancient first gen Uni to the speed check..?Originally posted by Joel View PostThis sunday planning to have a speed check session.
I'll be getting my RTR in a fully modified trim. With the stock bits, but a completely retuned engine. Big valve/altered ports - head, Higher compression, tuned exhaust, bigger carb, etc etc. Should be fun.
Also a brand new RTR FI to thrash. need some P200 for comparision. And a few other bikes. Will bring my R15 too.
Those interested can join.
I wanna know how much she can really do. Will tell me if she's in good nick engine wise..
Plus.. It would help me meet you in person Joel. Maybe you can find out what's wrong with her wrt the issue i'd PMed you about...I'm normally not a praying man, but if you're up there, please save me Superman.

So I have finished the work on my RTR. However it needs high octane gas to get rid of the knocking at higher revs.
Will be trying a few set-ups by tomorrow to get good top-end. Expecting something close to my Fiero with a 165cc set-up. lets see.
Location - its on the NICE road stretch towards tumkur road. Come from RV engineering college, take the right patch of the NICE road and ride down for the next 10 kms. better still call me @ 9886058653

Gentle Reminder: Do try to arrange a digi cam to take speedo vids, or vids of the speed gun, with bikes, only if possible.Originally posted by Joel View PostSo I have finished the work on my RTR. However it needs high octane gas to get rid of the knocking at higher revs.

That goes without saying. We'll have a cam. Been doing this for a very long now.Originally posted by pranay View PostGentle Reminder: Do try to arrange a digi cam to take speedo vids, or vids of the speed gun, with bikes, only if possible.

Joel, is ur RTR using the new cam setup
? And just out of curiosity how much psi of compression are u running?
And planning to surpass the old speed record of ur 200? Too bad, I will miss out the celebrations if u do.
Take care, see u and do post the videos.
P.S : Doing the 160 vs 180, 200, 220 drags too?Democracy is when 2 wolves and a sheep meet to decide who is for dinner. Liberty is when the sheep has a gun.

We barely had 3 bikes for the speed check.
My RTR, my pals modified unicorn and Mithuns R15.
A few others present were praful, chicane and his friend who landed there in a car.
It was a very windy day with drizzle during the first few hours. Lots of cross winds at the spot where we test. For a change we used a GPS to measure the speeds, as the speedgun was not made available.
The bikes were easily 3-4kmph slower than their previous attempts on a better/normal day. For ex mithuns R15 used to clock 126, but only did 123 best. So the results we got were pretty interesting.
My RTR is a 160cc set-up with a fully tuned freeflow exhaust, big valve head, modified intakes, bigger carb, K&N, stock camshaft, higher compression, sproketting, etc. The bike was barely 5-8kgs lighter than a stock bike.
Mithuns R15 was bone stock. Unicorn had a tuned freeflow, high comp, bigger carb, K&N, sproketting, etc.
So the speeds attained were,
R15 - 123, could have done its usual 126/127, but was very windy
Unicorn - 126. Had no fairing, could have done another 2-3kmph more else.
My RTR - 135. Had lot more to go. Winds, engine knocking from 9000rpm (due to high compression and lack of race fuel) and I had to roll off the throttle a bit.
It was fun to see a unicorn smoke the hell out of a R15
. Mithun need your comments here
@Apar - I could have run higher compression on my RTR but lack of race fuel (I ran 97 oct, but still) forced me to run a compromised set-up. Currently running 210psi. i could have easily got to 220+psi but I had to back off. It could have hit 140kmph with ease if the conditions were optimum.
Speedo was reading 146kmph @ true 135kmph
Another thing, my Fiero 200 was more torquey and hence it could hit speeds in a more relaxed manner. But with 35cc lesser, my RTR is already very very close to my Fiero. But if I were to build my Fiero 200 again, it will surely get to be much faster than before. Quite frankly when it clocked 144.4kmph, it was not in its best of shape.Last edited by Joel; 12-01-2008, 04:23 PM.sigpic

^^ Sure the Uni was damn fast no doubt about that.. good job on the that lazy bike
When my R15 and Uni launched simulatenously .. as usually my launch was not that good but even if it was good couldn't have matched the Unicorn acceleration .. so the gap between my R15 and Uni was more than 6 bikes i hope but once we hit 115 kmphr i gained and over took it with ease all because of the Yam aerodynamics.. Uni lost here because it didnt have a fairing and the 5th gear was bit taller for it i guess..
Next R15, RTR and UNI did a check(400 mtr) where i was riding joel RTR.. man this bike was flying love to ride this anytime.. compared to last time when i rode it, it had lot less vibes and more power..
It was fun riding the modified bikes
