Yeah!!! here we go!!!Originally posted by satyenpoojary View PostOh no ... not again

RTR beating a P180 is fine but P200???

I just couldnt digest that so posted it.. If it beats P200 then RTR fi performance is as good as P220 which is very hard to digest..
Last week i got a P220 to rip on nice road and i dunno why expert riders like joel and others are not able to extract more than 130 from it.
In the upright position the P220 wasnt crossing 126 -127 but as soon as i crouched the magic numbers went spewing on the dash.. i did a personal best of 136 on the p220 dash (I think the conditions were optimum that day) which must be easily 132+ true..
But yeah agree on the stupid handling of the pulsars part.. @ 130+ speed even slight uneven surface of the road makes the bike nervous blame it on the soft suspension part.Fun Starts at Redline!!!

if you do ever go for a top speed run, do PM me. Its time I needed to check my bike. I feel its slower than normal P220s. This is after I rode John's 220 2 months or so ago. I don't know which stretch of NICE road is optimum for this. I will be using the mobile GPS for this, and it should be next best accurate measurement after a speed gun.Originally posted by prafultripathy View PostWhy the ranting on forums?
Why not just have a showdown and everyone sees for himself how capable each bike is.
PS: I hope you guys dont have the showdown this weekend, coz I'm outta town.

I'm also outta town this sunday.
Well this p200/p220 thing is always there.
I said the RTR FI is faster than the p200 and the RTR is faster than the p180. Although the RTR carb'd itself can pretty much match the P200.
With a proper launch and in the hands of a good rider, the p220 will struggle with an RTR FI. The karizma will get smoked anyday by the RTR FI.
Take this with a pinch of salt and lime
Note - The pulsars are no race bikes. They never rev any higher and they are only low-end torque machines.
The only reason the p220 somehow runs decent is coz of its displacement and torque curve. Its not an outright performance bike. An RTR beating the pulsars with a lot lesser CC shows where the pulsars stand. period.Last edited by Joel; 12-09-2008, 03:41 PM.sigpic

Mine in all its life has never shown me more than 134 on the speedo on a flat road. But my bike was a wee bit faster than John's bike higher up in the rev range, as his bike got locked at 126 and mine went on till 131, but that was 4 months back.Originally posted by pranay View Postif you do ever go for a top speed run, do PM me. Add Gin to that too....Originally posted by Joel View PostTake this with a pinch of salt and lime

@Joel: Lets have a proper speedcheck with a gun and P220/200/180, RTR Carb/FI and the ZMA. I want to see some peoples faces once the results are out!

I'm game. The weekend after this is fine.Originally posted by prafultripathy View Post@Joel: Lets have a proper speedcheck with a gun and P220/200/180, RTR Carb/FI and the ZMA. I want to see some peoples faces once the results are out!

Bring the bikes, I'll get the gun. I can get an RTR and an RTR FI. I have no pulsars in my list
. You guys get a good p200 and p180. The p220 is in plenty here already
.
I'll get my R15 too to smoke all you fellows
.
FYI on sat, went to AutoService to meet venkat for some stuff. We put our Unicorn on that roller bench to check top-speed and acceleration. Clocked 138kmph and 0-60 in 4 secs with me riding it on the bench. But could have got better 0-60 if tried again. Thanks to that ultra loud megaphone exhaust which scared everyone around.
On the same bench a p220 did 136kmph at redline. 0-60 was some 4.5secs.
Could not test my RTR coz I had to drop it off for some stuff. As per the gearing and the rpm hitting 12000, it would have done 155kmph on the same bench

138 on the roller bench is pretty good! My bike when it was young used to do 139 on that and 0-60 was >4.5.
Lets fix it up for Sunday 14th and early morning please, there's too much traffic otherwise.

Jokes apart... its perhaps time that this thread be renamed...
The word Bangalore limits people viewing this thread to one geography... whereas this is the speedcheck g2g which is breaking a lot of myths in the Indian biking scenario... (may be that explains a non banglorian like me is on the thread like nobody's business)

Just kiddin. Yes, a mech there did a roller bench test there for my 220. Top speed was 137 and acceleration was 0-60 was 4.6. So I guess my bike is fine.
Did you mean less than 4.5? We both know a guy who has a beautifully maintained 200 but he won't go above 80Originally posted by prafultripathy View Post200 will have to hunt, lets see....there's never been a dearth of pulsars around

The topic name is bangalore specific, coz no one does this anywhere else. ya maybe it has to be renamed.
@pranay - Went to the Bajaj place for some stuff. Had to meet that owner. Meanwhile did this as well

Lets keep it for Saturday 20th if its okay with everyone.
Yes less than 4.5, I think it was around 4.4 or 4.3. That beautifully maintained below 80 kmph 200 guy will issue a death warrant in your name if intend on using his bike for a drag!Originally posted by pranay View PostDid you mean less than 4.5?
