My dear friend, early mornings are not the best suited for speed checks. Its good for a nice hot coffee and chit chat.Originally posted by prafultripathy View PostI'm in if it starts early in the morning!
. Engines will need optimum conditions. They are better found during afternoons.

But I thought cold air was good, anyways what do I know....Originally posted by Joel View PostMy dear friend, early mornings are not the best suited for speed checks. Its good for a nice hot coffee and chit chat.

If its in the afternoon, I'm out again!

Isn't cold air supposedly dense and richer in Oxygen and better for speedchecks than hot air in the afternoons which is relatively less dense? Cos I have heard during F1-commentaries, that during the rains, the engines make a few bhp more.... Can u explain this?Originally posted by Joel View PostMy dear friend, early mornings are not the best suited for speed checks. Its good for a nice hot coffee and chit chat.

Maybe Joel's bike performs better then compared to the other bikes...Originally posted by Aparajith View PostIsn't cold air supposedly dense and richer in Oxygen and better for speedchecks than hot air in the afternoons which is relatively less dense? Mine flies in the early mornings....

My engine is kept a little richer. Have seen it run better during hot days.
Also during cold mornings, I have noticed that cross winds are higher.
The sole purpose of testing during afternoons is coz, during an actual race u ride mostly only during hot afternoons. So that matters most.
The reason why the F1 engines perform better during cold conditions is coz the engine gets colder air intake.
To me the best combo would be running an engine on a hot day with a cold air intake

U guys better be happy that ur at Bangalore. Else that combo u just specified above is downright IMPOSSIBLE at Chennai!Originally posted by Joel View PostTo me the best combo would be running an engine on a hot day with a cold air intake

I once got my group D spec stcok RTR over to MMSC. Temp was 42deg. The bike was a bit rich at bangalore. But at chennai it was flying.
To give u an idea, it was clocking 97.4kmph true speed in less than 250mtrs. But under prolonged riding, i.e after anything more than 5-6 laps the engine would develop a slight knock. But the set-up was way faster than any R15 or anything around that day.
Only if we can get some real cold-air intake, with literally some cold air entering the engine, it will be a dream. the hot atmospheric air kills the party.sigpic

^^U wud have lots of options to make a cold air intake if it were a car, but I guess only u have to think of some ingenious ways of urself to have some cold air intake on a bike!Democracy is when 2 wolves and a sheep meet to decide who is for dinner. Liberty is when the sheep has a gun.

Yes even i have experienced that in hot afternoons bike clocks better top speeds.. Though the cool air results in a marginal bhp increase, the dense air creates drag much more..The air when cold will be dense and it creates very high air drag thereby reducing the topspeed of a vehicle. In case of the bikes the cross sectional area facing the drag will be much more than the F1 cars so the extra marginal horses generated are wasted just to over come the head wind.
The F1 cars aren't much affected by air drag as they are designed very aerodynamically and much wind force than normal will only help F1 cars to stick better to the tarmac as the wings are designed to create downforce from the head winds and the Air filter position in a F1 car is in the configuration of Ram-air intake(Just above the drivers helmet u can see it). which means more wind will help it generate those exta horses which is not the same case on indian bikes..
@ Joel
can i know the time of speed check bro.. is it planned at 12pm or above??Fun Starts at Redline!!!
