OT: How much does Blueprinting cost? And can the process be done to a sad a$$ pulsar engine?
    Was the complete engine blueprinted?

What cost. Nobody would do this for u. I worked on my engine myself.
I only worked on the upper half of the engine. Bottom engine is untouched.
It has never seen a Yamaha service centre. And already clocked 3500kms in just over a month.

^^Yeah, and uses a paper with pencil marks on it tucked inside the front visor as its number plate...

@Joel : Hope u have got that ready by now atleast. If not please get it ready atleast before u come back to Chennai. U know how afraid I was that some cops were gonna catch us, that too in the middle of the night and keep us waiting on the roads!!!

BTW I feel it would be very helpful if you cud just explain what blue - printing is too all the not-so-geeky souls here. More than the improvement in the city, I guess even highway riding and overtaking should be a lot better, right?

Yeah man, I'll surely put the reg number. I'll find some time this week. I've stuck a new paper with the reg number now.
Highway riding is a breeze man. I could casually float at 100+ speeds. Infact on my way back to bangalore, did 140kmph with ease right off 6th gear..just rolling on. In the middle of the night and with my 2 huge bags. Fuel efficiency was another smasher. That part later.
All in all, its a super fun set-up.
Blueprinting - Its a process of matching the internal components to the right levels. Casting flaws, improper weights, varying lengths, shrouded valve seats, machining errors, etc etc are all dealt with.
I'm running a set-up with a sligthly different valve timing and hence the difference in the overall performance to a great extent. Dont ask me how. . It took me over a week to get things right. Did all this experiment on a brand new 950kms run engine, stripping it all alone, first time. Everything was quite a task man. The whole damn engine is so cramped to work on too, took me 3 days to correct many things.

So does that mean an engine always has a room for an error to work upon with??

^^Obviously when something is built mechanically in an assembly line, there will be errors. Nothing equals hand-made machinery!

I really wanted to do this p180 vs RTR thing, but never got a bike for this. We have an RTR, but no good P180. And also an RTR FI v/s p200 dash.

                    • This sunday planning to have a speed check session.
I'll be getting my RTR in a fully modified trim. With the stock bits, but a completely retuned engine. Big valve/altered ports - head, Higher compression, tuned exhaust, bigger carb, etc etc. Should be fun.
Also a brand new RTR FI to thrash. need some P200 for comparision. And a few other bikes. Will bring my R15 too.
                      Those interested can join.

Arrey, if your wounds are healed, I thought you would be coming for the G2G. But this will be interesting. @Joel: What will be the agenda? Drags? Top speed runs? Do take videos this time, really want to see the modified bikes performances...Also, the weather will most likely be really cool, and tarmac not biker-friendly due to overnight rain. If you postpone to another weekend, then I would come, to test the top speed of my bike, and check the state of tune.

Wounds are healing, but can't risk riding out in the rains! This is closeby so rains don't matter as much!

                              But then who knows
