    • @KAAS trip : I would recommend staying overnight at Sajjangad. Its a very beautiful fort with picturesque panoramic view on all sides. The accommodation atop is provided by Shri Samarth Seva Mandal at very low cost (free I think, works on donation). You can park the bikes at base and then climb few steps to reach there. Make sure you enter before evening. I had stayed there during my 3rd-4th Sept satara tour. Also do visit Thoseghar waterfall and the Windmill farm which is on the same road ahead of Sajjangad.

          Night stay at Sajjangad means following all the rules mentioned by them. You need to maintain the sanctity of that place. I know Sajjangad is a nice place but I would suggest to leave that place after sunset as there is nothing much to do there.

          Better stay in Satara, explore the market and have nice local food there.

            Thanks ... I have mentioned about the road conditions (which are 90% good) in my post few pages back. They offer a very beautiful view once you are out of the city, especially the road to Sajjangad and Thoseghar.

            PS :

            2. Ajinkyatara & Sajjangad Forts - India Travel Forum, BCMTouring

            I would suggest following itinerary for you guys
            Day 1 -> Reach Satara by noon. First visit Thoseghar Fall & Windmill farm. Take Lunch on the way. Then ride back to Sajjangad, park you bikes down and reach top before 5pm (after 6pm the gates close). Check into the room and then do some sightseeing atop. The dinner time is fixed at 7:30pm so be there to have tasty amti-bhaat. Remember no booze/smoking allowed in the premises.

            Day 2 ->
            Leave for Kaas early morning and spend around 1 or 2 hours on the plateau (best time to visit is 8am to 12noon). Ride straight on the same road and check out Kaas lake which is down the ghat. Have lunch on the way back to Satara. Start return journey at say 1pm and reach Mumbai by 8pm max.

            The rules are not at all difficult to follow and hardly anyone interferes with visitors. Also such experiences are rare in our daily city life routine. Its a small price to pay compared to views you get to see from up there. Also the place is very clean and pollution free, ideal for refreshing after a long ride. But if one is looking forward to booze/smoke/party then you are correct, its not the place to be !

                I agree. But I think its fine when you are travelling with family. With friends and a big group the scenario is completely different. We travel places to enjoy with friends and there will be noise. It is bound to happen let it be any place. Most of them will stay awake till late night. So disturbance is unavoidable when travelling with big group of friends and that is the reason I told to avoid staying at Sajjangad.

                I agree that the view from Sajjangad is amazing but that can be enjoyed without the need to stay there overnight. Ajinkyatara also has an amazing view, clean and pollution free. No one will be there to disturb you and you can ride till the entrance of that fort. Its a 10 mins drive from Satara city and climbing ~20 steps will take you to the main fort which has an amazing view of Satara city.

                  Got your point but I stayed there with 25 people as a part of trekking group (but there was hardly any trek involved) and not even once the authorities interfered. Anyways, we didnt visit Ajinkyatara which is close to the city, heard its a nice well maintained fort. I will surely visit it next time around.

                            I wonder whether this weekend is the right tiem to go to Kaas as it might rain and secondly the flowers might be at 60% level (Last Sunday they were at 40% level)
