the 18-200 is an all round lens more line a "Jack of all , king of none lens"

some reasons for me picking the canon

    1. the canon 55-250 costs 10.7k
    2. the canon 18-200 is costs 30k and the sigma costs 17k
    3. the sigma which is closest to my budget has issues with low light performance and quality of a sigma lens is not great.

P.S - I wanted to get the 70-200 but it was not i stock and hence picked the 55-250.

Next year I will get the L lens for sure

        • Hi guys,
Wishing all are fine (posting after a long time). I see the G2Gs are happening fine, keep it up.
Last night had the best night ride (solo) on ECR pondy-chennai. This was one of the 4 ocassions i rode in night on ECR with my P200, i avoid night ride on that road mostly (No dividers, dangerous curves). I have done ECR pondy-chennai like 60 times and knew lines where a bike should or should not go.
Thanks to an Innova and Qualis in between where i was sandwiched and we did constant 100kmph most of the time (maintained 20mtrs distance b/w each other i guess). I do not encourage this type of drive but had no option since i had to reach destination, my bad because of bad planning and it will be real scary to ride alone in that dark hollow kind of road with oncomming mostly 100watts lights on my puny headlights (my concern:HEADLIGHT issue and reason to post this log ). It was dry throughtout the route which i prayed to be.
The Innova and Qualis guys (privately owned) were quiet good drivers with good road sense, stuck to their lanes, used indicators if required, headlights in dipper and upper if only required.
Mile markers: Pondy to Chennai: 0 to 40kms did 70kph, 40 to 120kms was with Innova and Qualis doing 100kph, after mahabs i was on my own - took break- coffee, stretching, pee etc.
Started at 7:15 pm> MG strt pondy, reached at 9:45pm> Royapettah Chenn.
I was determined to be as safe as possible, very vigilant about happenings around. I do predective riding and reached home fit and fine. What i think is that even if we take measures to be safe, we bikers are still not safe from others.
          Now for my concern:
Given that we have to do night stints, early morning, sunset rides, what about our headlights
I know we will not choose night ride, and keeping in mind about Headlight and touring threads, am looking for various opinions with you guys.
As for my bike, i have already tried these:
          1. Installed 35W Halonix HS1- not satisfied.
          2. 60W Philips crystal Vision bulb with Avenger Stator coil- Flickering issues no tech-support for resolving the issue, fear for electricals
          3. HID - Battery issues, also not practical for city rides.
          Yet to try:
          1. HID with projectors, relay system for charging even at low RPMs.
          2. Extra headlight like Fog lamps on left crash gaurd- atleast i can see the left lines on Highways.
Please put in your suggestions, solutions regarding Headlights so that others can also get benefitted in situations.
Ride Safe, somebody is waiting for us at home.
          Thanks,
          Suresh

Wonderful to know that you had a good and safe return Pondy trip.

With regards to the headlights - Avenger coil should do wonders. However, if you feel that your bulb is not adequate, would suggest to give a try for Osram Nightbreaker which comes only with 60/55w. So far, people who have tried did not get disappointed. There is one other option which would involve some juggad work unless you wanted to try. Getting the existing coil winding work for better power, so that you can have 100w bulb on your bike.

                              • @Suresh: I wud suggest u get the Avenger's RR Unit and couple it with the Avenger's coil as well. That shud solve the flickering issues. I had the same setup with a 55/60 H/L on my Pulsar Classic. But, be warned - it will burn up ur reflectors faster.
