All: Regarding the Trichy/Dindigul accomodation, first we got to come up where we are stayin whether trichy or Dindigul; once we decide that we can book rooms. Also based on this we can come up with the cost involved for Thursday and Friday as we the following things to be taken care:
Thursday dinner + Thursday stay + Friday Breakfast and Lunch

So if the place is finalized then we can come up with the cost for the same.

You are right, whether or not you are in Group 1 or 2, a over night break is confirmed in Trichy or Dindigul. Will be riding together onwards journey !!!

And for the coming weekend preride to Villupuram, I think its too way much as it would be a round trip of more than 300 kms.

        @ Sunny

What are the things needed to be carried along with regarding Ninja? Already done trips on my A150 & know what to carry, stuffs like extra tube, clutch cable etcetera... Since this would be my first ride on kwacker I would like to know about it.

Guys, I would think Trichy would be the halting destination midway to Munnar. As such starting at noon on 10th March, would manage to reach Trichy around the evening (hope so). Dindugal would be pushing bit too much.

EDIT: @Ram: Villupuram will be good pre-ride run so that we get familiar with. Doing a ride on any other route would not make sense.

@All: I would think everyone is OK with Villupuram if there are no responses.

          Guys,
I will not be able to leave on 10th, so I will join the Bangalore group like Sunny suggested.

          See you guys in Munnar.
          All peace Bro. xD

The route plan for the 'hyper' fast group is still being debated, will keep you posted Ram.

The way I see it, carry some extra cash so that if you have a break-down, we can truck the bike back home!! Seriously, if something goes kaput with the bike, I don't think we want to be tinkering with it - since we know jack about it!

Beyond a spare clutch cable and a puncture kit, I really don't know what else we could carry.

Absolutely agree. I think you will barely make Trichy by sundown, so Dindigul will be out of the question.

See you in Munnar! Baaaa! Ride safe! Baaaaa!

@ ALL - Considering a night halt in Trichy, I guess that you would have an additional expenditure of room for the night and dinner. I would say approximately Rs. 500 per head. Add the same amount if you decide to break journey again on the return leg.

Considering the whole trip, I would say that you need to carry about Rs.2450/- for gas (1400km/40kmpl x 70/per litre petrol ) -Rs.1000/- extra if you add two nights for break in journey, other than the Rs.1400/- odd for Munnar. ( I calculated Rs.70/litre assuming the impending price hike takes place by then )

250's please do your own calculation of fuel costs!!

So prepare to carry at least Rs.3450/- + a buffer of about Rs.1000/-. The Munnar costs will probably be collected this week separately.

@ Xinfii - do you have any contacts for a lodge type place in Trichy where the room is decent but cheap and the bikes would be safe - a la Dharmapuri?

            • I have been a silent spectator. Some of things I would like to share.

              1. I have always found difficulty getting accommodation in Trichy - book in advance or ride ahead
              2. avoid starting in the afternoon - try to start a little early - 10.30ish as you have the heat factor and you will be able to make it to dindukal.
              3. Trichy - Munnar should take you around 10 - 12 hrs(considering it is a group of 10+ riders), time taken might be more in the hills so an early start is absolutely necessary and can be a challenge with a big group(gives you another reason to ride till dindukal on the first day)
              4. Avoid riding in the hills after sun set because the roads are narrow and not a lot of riders have experience riding in the hills. Munnar is surrounded by forests having a healthy population of elephats as well , A wild elephant is the last thing you would want in a ride like this.

@ All - any inputs please feel free to ask.
it hurts me that I am not joining you guys on the trip. have fun guys and bring back a ton of pics

I some how got my accommodations pretty easily in Trichy. If not Srirangam would have a lot of decent options (with pure veg food )

And most of the people cannot leave by 10.30 - I guess a minimum of 1 PM should be the time they are looking at. So even a 2 PM start should make them settle in Trichy by 10 00 PM.

And why dont you shed off your xBox and join? I might join the ride if i get my Fuel pump sorted out

I guess you would reach Trichy only by night. Please see to that there is a watter bottle for every 2 members in the ride. Since you guys are riding in the middle of heat, we all would dehydrate pretty faaast!

If Srini doesn't join & your fuel pump prob doesn't get clear, why don't you take up his ZMA for Munnar. Just a suggestion though.

Add the Chain lube to the list as we would burst a trip of 1400 kms.

I would say early morning is better so that we can cross major part of the distance before it gets hot. However, lets plan during the weekend.
