    • @kunnu_cbz & aditya: Many of us cant afford even low end riding gears including me but that shouldnt keep me from having fun on a bike. Im not bringing any 'motorcycling gear' except helmet and a good pair of jeans which I think is sufficiant as long as I ride carefully and be on my guard.

You can find cheaper alternatives to dsg at cramster. Bionic kneepads for some 1500, adequate jackets for around 4000. DSG sells the cheapest gloves at 850.

I completely understand! I guess Aditya has put the list of 'mandatory gears' coz, during their rides, they've come across several unfortunate accidents where the riders/pillions would have been saved from a lot of pain (mental/physical/financial) had they used proper gears- I'm sure you'd agree to this!

Personally, I've been riding without riding gears (helmet's always on) for almost 7-8 years now; however, I don't wanna join these rides ignoring the requirements put forward by the senior members- I'm a very obedient child, you see!

Kind of finalized the list of Jacket/gloves/knee guards, just that Knee guards don't fit the budget this month. Cramsters- have not heard many good reviews about it- so planning for A*!

        Cheers,

        • Riding gear listed by Aditya is a must for our G2G rides which involve going out of Bangalore. Not a luxury, but a necessity. We have learned this from our collective experience. And one can never be careful enough.

If one does not have riding gears, one must wait to join the group ride till all the gear is in place. This should be non-negotiable and riders who fail to comply should be turned back from the meeting point.

If a rider are new to mid distance riding, that is cool. We are there to help you feel comfortable and enjoy the ride!

PS: I will confirm by Tuesday whether I am coming or not. Depends on how the office scene and whether or not I have to work from home.

Sorry 2strokerama. The requirements have been mentioned clearly. If you want to ride with us, please gear up as suggested. The group I ride with is very strict on riding gears.... no gears means no riding with us. Please dont take offence... this is for everyone's safety including yours.

Take your time to buy decent riding gear and then you can join us for the rides.

P.S. Cheap gloves wont necessarily protect you. Best bet is to INVEST in leathers.

+1 Rahul. I completely agree with the bold part. The guy would get pissed but down the line, someday, he would appreciate the rules we've made.

The group takes collective responsibility of anyone's fall or crash. So its better to ask the gearless guy to head back, than feel guilty about his crash and injuries.

Personally, Id rather just be on my guard than depend on gear, though you never know when your luck can go wrong. But if I wait around to get riding gear to my satisfaction, I wont be able to do any rides anytime soon.

No offense taken. Even I wouldnt like to get myself into the mess of cleaning up after another. Maybe another time then. Have fun.
