Is anybody from Delhi who has booked his bike from the CP showroom interested in going to the showroom tomorrow and demanding some answers. Booked my bike on the 25th and now they've just stopped taking my calls. And to top it off they've not given booking numbers to the initial allottees unlike the system in Bombay / Bangalore.

I booked from KTM CP last Saturday. I have not been given any booking number, no idea about the people who booked initially. I visited the showroom today for a test ride, the showroom manager says that deliveries will start inthe last week of Sept.

As for the test ride. All has been said earlier, just my 2 cents.

              My fears:-

              1. The bike has a start up issue big time. It took around 4-5 secs of thumb press to come to life. I stalled it the first time.....my fault. Then it refused to start.....pressed the thumb starter around five times for 4-5 secs each......each ending with a phat sound and a slap on my bum....i don't know what that was but i guess someting related to the air intake. Turned off the key, turned back on again....It said "Ready to Race ?".....I thought "I am, are you ?"......The bike started this time and I made sure not to stall it again and I dint.

              2. Vibrations!!! It vibrates much more than I thought it would. Enough to give a nice foot massage with a complimentary hand job(massage). Dont know if it was this particular demo bike or?? The vibrations disappear at mid and higher RPMs though.....maybe the speed and acc. overwhelm you enough to forget about it, I'm not sure.....din't get that long a test ride.

              3. As somebody had mentioned earlier, the rear seat is for Supermodels. Pipe bend = Eye sore!

              4. No big bike feel. Don't know if thats good or bad......but I guess it'll be safer in those hostile parking spaces.

              5. Same styling as the 200??.....I personally find it pretty good to look at.

              6. I'm 5'7, the bike seemed to be a perfect fit. For someone 6 or plus it might be cramped. (My personal opinion)

              Smiles:-

              1. This thing accelarates like a mad horse on adrenaline shots.....pulled like a maniac from 25+ in 2nd gear with only 30% twist of wrist!! I love the linear accelaration curve. (PS. I have never tested the 200 duke)

              2. For the short ride I got, I never felt the seat to be hard, not for one moment. Maybe because the ride was short and I was too occupied with other things.

              3. Din't find the suspension to be hard......I literally took off and landed, off a speedbreaker in a short empty stretch where I was alowed to go full throttle.....didn't feel any bump...

              4. You can ride the bike slow....I could.....it was easy enough to maintain plus minus 30kmph in second gear (thats the only time I looked at the speedo..). The bike has very nice in city maneuverability.....always felt at home....it went where I wanted it to go with ease....

              5. The instruments display I guess, is too small....as I couldn't look towards it in the whole ride.....and I mean that in a good way...

              6. The exhaust note is awsome while moving....could have been a bit deeper though.

The bike is so fun to ride, but I guess it has been made to ride in some good country roads with twists but no traffic..... So my booking doesn't need any reconsideration....

I booked it in July first week. No number was was given to me either. Also they are asking price is 2.05 lakh however everywhere it's written 2.01 lakh. The deficit amount is said as file charges.

That's not an issue for me…for me it's the riding ergonomics- especially the knee and the foot/ankle that are a concern as I'm approx 6'1" :/
Firstly, I dunno if I'm buying a new bike at all (more to do with career and life in general) but if I am, the 390 is at the top of the list and it will be from the 2nd production lot. The only other performance bike that offer similar VFM right now is the NS!

@nomad- Was gonna ask you about the ergos n comfort as you did look fairly tall in that pic, when you touched upon the point in one of your posts Good to see a 6 footer being the 1st buyer! Some queries I have-

                      1. Do the tank shrouds/ knee recesses hit your knees or cause any discomfort?
                      2. Is the rearset footpeg painful for the ankle in any way?
                      3. Assumin you test rode the bike earlier, any significant differences you found from the test bike- handling, front suspension, starter etc?

The bike doesnt seem too dirty after all that rain riding you've done and I'm sure you feel like a celeb here and on the road too!

Sorry for jumping into the conversation.
I am too 6ft and I hope my experience with 390 and 200 might help.

Knee Recess: It is not great. My knees rubbed onto the edge of the tank shrouds which is little uncomfortable. but if you sit little more behind the seat, you knee will come under that edge and its is OK then. I had this problem in all the pulsar lines, ninjas. The only bikes I found with proper knee recess were Karizma, CBR, Xtreme and R15 for a 6ft guy.

Rear set: Not much of an issue there, will take time to get used to it. KTM has placed them quite behind so that there is little bit of pressure on the ankle. Better than R15 though. I rode 200 for almost 80kms at once, at the end of the night I felt cramp on my thigh, I was not sure if it was because of the seating of Duke or some other.

I am still going with the bike, because both the above issues are which I can deal with some minor adjustment and they are not deal breakers for me at least for this VFM bike.[/

Hey @riazmomin thanks for your perspective.

Partly agree with what you had posted. Yes, the Zma twins are really comfy but I've actually had no issues with the Pulsar/ Ninja. I can vouch for the former as I ride a P200 DTSi and right from the word go, I had no comfort issue wrt. the ergos...there was no learning curve when I bought the bike! (The seat quality is a different story though ) In fact I learned to ride on the 1st gen P150 and though it was a compact bike, I was never uncomfy as its ergos suited almost everyone. The half fairing of the 220 might be tad obstructive but I suppose one can live with it unless you're 6'3" or so :P
Haven't really ridden the Ninja 250 much, but I have checked out the ergos a few times and I found it spacious enough. The knees do touch the side cowl where the fairing begins to widen but is barely an issue.
The R15 is one tiny bike and I rode one in Goa for 2 consecutive days over 100 kms- the saddle is very compact but there is that wee bit of room one needs to move around the saddle. Initially the forward position causes some wrist ache but then as I started enjoying the bike, I got accustomed to it rather quickly by sitting closer to the tank and more erect.
This is a trade-off where you sit "in the bike" than on it- almost all performance bikes on sale today have this same issue and hence it 's even more important that you choose wisely as once you're in the saddle, there's no moving around. Pun intended!

Now, I revived this discussion as I hopped astride a D200 last week. The last time I sat on one, I had felt very cramped but since I wasn't considering the Duke back then for a purchase, I thought to myself- No way am buying this in future under any circumstances. All I remember was that my knees had a big problem with the tank. That was atleast 8-10 months ago.

This time I was checking out the ergos seriously as the 390 is on my list. And as soon as i was astride I knew we had trouble. The riding position is downright weird coming form the old P200. My crotch was resting against the tank awkwardly, knees were jutting out of the tank shrouds and there was absolutely no room anywhere to move into a less painful position. The saddle turned out more compact than it looks and the seat narrower. It was a much bigger change than when I 1st sat on the R15...it felt as if my P200's seat had been moved 150 mm closer to the tank with barriers at both ends. I feel kinda vulnerable when the knees cover the widest part of the tank and the posterior is on the narrowest part of the bike, if you know what I mean :/
Surprisingly, the rear-sets didn't seem to be an issue- I had expected them to be far more behind than where they were...

Overall, with 6'1" and 82 kgs+ I value space a lot in a country that thinks that the tallest person around is 5'10" ! Now lemme see if it's a real deal-breaker when I actually test ride the 390 that has virtually same ergos

Nice to see feedback from a guy who has same height as me

Any way, if you see Duke 200/390. The rider sits very close to the handle. I mean the tank is short in length. This gives the much acclaimed flick-ability or the maneuverability of the duke twins. Which comes with sacrifice of the space for the heavy built riders. But I guess I can live with that as Me and the bike will adjust with each other accordingly. Comes with experience on the bikes in my signature.

And question on your wait for Second lot. Any specific reason for that? I guess bajaj has already exported thousands of bikes till now and most of the production issues might have been sorted out and it doesn't make sense to wait for second lot unless your booking will fall in it.

Update on Deleviers on Hyderabad perspective.

A lot of 20 bikes is expected to be dispatched today from the plant to Begumpet, KTM. Once these are arrived. All these 20 bikes will be delivered by 20th of this month. So Optimistically saying I will be having my bike by 20th and end of monsoons. Fingers crossed. The wait is excruciating.

btw, why don't you get Duke 390?! "the bigger the better" don't you think?!

This thread is got some 57 pages till now, various riders adding to the long-term ride review.
Should be an exciting read for any soon-to-be-Duke-kar!

I guess bajaj has already exported thousands of bikes till now and most of the production issues might have been sorted out and it doesn't make sense to wait for second lot unless your booking will fall in it.

                              .

Isnt that counter intuitive. The longer the tank the more u tuck in and the better your knee grip. I think that longer tank bikes are more flickable. Look at all race bikes
