Even i am seriously considering this phone along with the HTC Wildfire S but in a kind of confusion whether to go for a powerful+less eye candy phone or slow+android v2.3+cool looks phone. Last time i checked i was quoted 10.5 k for the Samsung which i think is quite a good bargain for the form factor and the features it comes with.
from what I have read from most of the reviews is that the battery life is not so good,it cannot play HD vids and is potrayed as a entry level android phone.Screen resolution isnt good is what i saw on the net

    Really confused

The only thing I found it lacking in were in terms of user experience and the limited apps on the Samsung Apps market, surely no match for the sheer number and variety of the Androids App market. And of course, Samsung hardly gives out updates for it's Bada software. Plus, the metal back of the Wave II is great to look at, but slippery as hell.
      Thanks for the reply!
I am not a heavy duty apps user. I just need a phone with a decent 5mp+autofocus rear cam&front cam compulsory. GPS would be good on touring.
I intend to sync office&personal mails&also chat on it, since I do not have access to personal mails at office&no computer at home too.
A good screen will be helpful in watching videos while travelling.
I found this phone to be really VFM, with its 400x800 res. 3.7" screen, front cam, rear cam of 5mp af+LED flash etc.
I didn't expect 720p HD recording&very good support for vid playback, but apparently user reviews say it handles almost all video playback upto 720p very well!
I also liked the Swype type of input which joins the dots-it makes typing messages very easy.
Do you think it is worth? I can get a Nokia C7 for approximately this price, but the lack of auto focus really brings down the picture clarity according to reviews. Otherwise not much difference in 3.5&3.7", though the resolution will be 640x360 in case of C7.
Android phones with front cam&3.7" screens will cross 25K I think, why pay that much when I am not going to use the apps?

@GP_freak: Waiting for your inputs too!
Am I right in thinking that this phone can satisfy my not so stringent requirements, or is Bada OS a big compromise?

Yes, it is certainly VFM considering the hardware it has. As for watching videos, it is as the screen says, Super Clear. And I think 720p is where the buck stops for these phones, even my Galaxy S supports only that resolution. Only the current crop of Galaxy S2, Optimus 2X, etc. supports 1080p resolutions.
And these Samsung phones are in a different class altogether from the Nokias hardware-wise.
This phone also has better battery life than my Galaxy S, because it does not support true multitasking which Android does and is detrimental to battery life.
Bada is still a very good OS and continues to be supported by Samsung (though not updated as frequently as Android) unlike Nokia's Symbian, which is now dying a slow death.
And big screen Android phones are not that expensive anymore, the Samsung Galaxy SL i9003 is available for 18K-odd with its 4.0 inch screen.

if apps not ur thing, then u can go with wave2 eyes closed. i got one for 14.7k from letsbuy.com. and it plays all my video files perfectly, even .mkv too. and sound quality is fantastic plus5mp cam is the best in its class.
between c7 n wave2 the only thing wave 2 lacks is app support and multitasking(but its supported in bada2.0 which will be available for dwnld in september this year).
-ve : phone takes almost 3 hrs to get fully charged(may be its just mine)
gps nav app is trial only(but u can get gmaps java or sygic 'mobie maps' with map my india maps for bada)
available apps are lil expensive(dont worry with wavespoofer u can install pirated apps if u want)
phone itself is lil heavy. thats it

edit: dude u might want to take a look at the new spice mi 410 its a rebranded huawei x6. and its specs are even better than galaxy s. the best part is it costs half the price of SGs.

Oh come on, i suck at reviews. ok i will surely do it. But give me some time. The phone doesnt feel cheap with the plastic body. Its actually that my mind is not registering the equation between such a cosly phone and weight. the phone gives the feel of a toy in hand rather than as a phone in hand. But the plastic back panel is lovely. Avoids slips.

The phone is big. No doubt in it. Never wear it in jeans with out a proper leather case.

@Sarvajit - I am not a big fan of Bada OS. I prefer to stay with the main stream( android ) so there are more apps, games, and more software updates and DEVs support for it. This is the only reason i choose android over windows phone 7 omnia 7( Obviously the SGS2 was the other main reason)

But i really love the construction of the Wave 2 thought it gets slippery when your hands are sweaty.

It's just that I fall into the category of people who are quite satisfied with sticking to the official releases. But yeah, I might do it later if Samsung doesn't do a HoneyComb update for this model.

between c7 n wave2 the only thing wave 2 lacks is app support and multitasking(but its supported in bada2.0 which will be available for dwnld in september this year).

Thanks for the honest inputs! I am not considering the old Galaxy S due to lack of LED flash&also it is too common now. Moreover my budget is around 15-16K, since I had a lot of unavoidable expenses.
I was thinking about the maps feature, but looks like there are some options for it. Hopefully, that should be solvable with some software downloads.
As of now, I am locking in on this, hopefully by month end I should clear off my card bills&begin a new EMI!
                                Quench my thirst with gasoline!
