Well putting ZMA RR Unit might help increasing the charge rate but there is no coil (AC) output provided from ZMA's RR Unit as ZMA by stock is complete DC.

BTW which bike are u riding and how can u mount 2 bulbs ??
Dude, he is only putting a higher capacity charger. He will use it with his custom 100/90 stator coil. This stator coil has one coil only, which can be used for DC with any capable RR unit, incl Zma.

His bike is P150 DTSi UGI.

I have done the coil rewinding and the output was amazing, was running on a 90/100 halogen which gives me enough brightnes and respect from the oncoming traffics too. Last week I have got a HID kit, installed, working fine. Perfomance is another story that I will take you to later on.

Now switching to HID, my stock bulb circuit is idle and the power is from the battery but its not holding more than an hour. So I need to change the RR unit to improve the battery charging. I tried to connect a bridge rectifier to the stock bulb supply it seems getting shorted as if the current too high to handle by the rectifier. SO i am looking for a good high watt RR unit. Somebody can help?

I invite everyone who are already switched to HID and how is managing the battery charging issues? Any idea of swappin the stock RR unit with Shoguns or Fiero/ Bullets?
The Zma RR unit can be used.

Yeah, what do you want to use it for?

    (2) In this case would I still be able to stick to a 35W HID?

    (3) I would not want this as an option, because on small rides the 55/60 wuld more than suffice. Hence it would be better if I could stick to the present coil.

    (4) How reliable is this? This looks like the best of both worlds.

    Thanks for the help Rahul.
    (2) Yes, 35W HID will not be a problem.

    (3) Either it's HID or 60/55W Halogen.. you want to use both?

    (4) Never tested it. But reliability should not be an issue, as it's not much complex, but botheration of switiching back and forth would be irritating.

Now, if you go by the setup we have made, you will Overcharging your battery quiet by a huge margin!

    What are your options then?

    (1) Install this custom rectifier, which will provide 65W to your battery, and disconnect the Original charging circuit for battery!

    (2) Install a rectifier on the headlight itself, so that HID is fed with 65W.

    (3) Revert back to stock Coil, and install this circuit.

    (4) Option one when HID is on, and back to stock charging when HID is off, make use of DPDT switch!

    (5) Device a way out, from all of the options.

PS: Making the rectifier is not a problem, I can help you out, as i'm in B'lore.

And even if the circuit burns, it won't affect the HID, your battery will be back to stock charging. and HID will continue to glow. It has been reliable for me.

I am presently running a 60W coil on my P200 with a 35W rectifier. I can change to the RR unit of the Avenger, not a problem.

I dont know how to go about making this circuit, can someone get this made for me? Or can you suggest someone I can go to?

How reliable is this setup for continuous riding with the HID on? Is there an easy switch mechanism to switch to regular AC on the fly, just in case the circuit burns off on a long ride?

    Any help is appreciated.
