See, best thing you can do is, not to install a K&N. The marginal gain in performance often comes with heavy prices.
Now, if you have already got one installed, then upjetting is a necessity. Upjet your carb, get a better breathing engine and forget the mileage part. K&N without upjetting and a simple tune up will sure over heat the engine.
So either do upjet or go back to stock filter.

After the huge mileage drop, ive removed the K&N. Its stock now. It doesnt make a difference at all with respect to performance! Only the sound changes a bit.
Anyways ive removed it now n its stock. By the way how much mileage does yo hunk give?

      • Rainy season rides !!

        @ all -

kindly share your experience about rainy season.
we all know rainy season are most enjoybale to ride, but at the same time its the most risky one too.

A word of bad experience, advice about (preventive) maintenance of bike for this season would be really of great help for all of us and fellow riders on road to be safe.

Wish you all a fabolous and safe monsoon rides

My engine is yet to open up fully. For the first 300 kms, mileage was a poor 39 kmpl. Hope it will improve.

Hmm.. Rain is in full swing here. The best part is, my vacation started on the very same day the rain started.. Now 1 month leave, so plenty of chances to ride, and I love riding in rain. But the problem is, I don't have a rain jacket. So getting drenched every day.

Bad experiences - Yea, on a Platina 3 months back. Slipped and fell, minor bruises only.

i don't have any cold start problem with my hunk now. idle is set to 1250 rpm, and it always is when starting cold. but problem starts when the engine is hot. the idle becomes irregular. it never goes up above 1250, but comes down to 700, 600 or stalls most of the time, like 1100-900-1000-800-1200-1000-800-600-stalls. and engine dose not start without raising throttle. marginally noticeable white smoke when cold started and raising throttle a bit.

Are these problems related to bad carb tuning, or something else? Is there any possibility of bad oil? oil level is ok.

By all chances, its a bad tuning. Get it tuned by a skilled and trusted mech.

Just look at the knob itself buddy.. Its written there.

If your friends xtreme is of the first gen, it has a different knob. Similar to Splendors and all. For new ones (2nd gen and current) ON is up and RES is down.

                        Hero Honda--CBZ vs Hunk!

                        my take--CBZ 2011
REASONS-- when i test ride the hunk i found the initial pickup was good when compared to cbz but-
the mid range was slightly better in cbz.
                        cbz handle better than hunk.
digital console looks and suits much better to cbz than in hunk.

                        but...but ...but...

the over all feel of hunk was better and cbz looks punny when they both where standing side by side.

                        reply and support guyzzz!!!

Choice is completely yours.. Both bikes have same engine and same frame. Difference is in body panels only. So choose based on looks.
