  • 5 to 1 should be possible in one clutch engaging. But it is not advised.
It causes the gears to grind with each other unnecessarily.
Though when you are coming to a speed breaker, 5-1 is only possible way for me.
I never felt any stuck gear in yamaha or TVS whatsoever.

True, but not on all bikes.

      But it is not advised.

      True.

Try the method I've posted above. It'll be hard at first, but with practice it can be done with least effort possible.

I never felt any stuck gear in yamaha or TVS whatsoever.

The gears getting stuck only happens once in a while, when I was a novice, I used to shift from 5~1 with only one clutch press and these are the few scenario's I've noticed.

      1. Successful attempt.
      2. Grinding (Karr...Karr) at 3~2 or 1~2.
      3. Getting stuck i.e even when we downshift the there wont be a click and the gear wont engage.

        I try last I saw your [ I am not sure] in SZ X Thread I suppose - { 1 gear 1 clutch while downshifting ].
But when approaching a speedbreaker Keeping brake and engaging and disengaging clutch for each gear is still tough for me.
But as for my knowledge says, It will not harm gears for a long time. May be minimal damage on sprocket because of engaging lower gear suddenly. That's why it is not advisable.

If you practice you can do it bro, heck! even I can do it. And that too since am a rookie when it comes to bikes(started riding from last July.).

Am not an expert, but this is what I've gathered. The DOGS(or what they're called.) will get worn out faster and will eventually result in gear slippage. And hence would require an early transmission overhaul.

for me best practice on a sudden speed breaker or something is to downshift from 5th to 3rd,declutch,3rd to 1

Don't want it to be spoiled by a noisy unresponsive bike . But .. but .. I would say that you just need to be pateint & run it in a little more for the cbzx to wear in until around 10000 kms it would still be getting smoother and cooler everyday . This will be aided by 1500-2000 kms oil changes well until after 10k kms too . Use 20w40 motul . This has been my own experience . Have the cold rpm tuned a bit lower , around 1000 . Postpone the decision until 10k kms .

Thank u Saurabh and pinaki sir for ur kind thoughts. Actually m planning to get a liquid cooled engine.. Maybe a Yamaha.. I don't think I'll be much comfortable in the r15 compared to the xtreme in riding posture but it's just about the engine. My cold idling rpm is 1000 and 1600 when hot. Anyways will take some time and think over again.

Yess, they slip like anything when wet . Now while you are riding in rain mud and slush , you can imagine ... slippery roads, slippery brakes, slippery tyres + slippery handles . The bare oem handle grips may be hard and ugly , but they usually give you the surest grip on the handles in all conditions . I like the straight ribbed ones of the older yamaha bikes .

                      • i am getting a milage of 55~57 on NH when i pour 1l petrol and drive it off in a trip

but some times if i pour 1l and ride some, keep it a day or two doing short rides of abt 8~10 kms max, i am getting only 40~43 or some times under 35 if the number of days increase(abt 4days).

is this usual having such a big difference ?

as i dont have a car shed , i park my cbc under the shade of a tree and cover it with a cover which i got on purchase time, and i don't think sun is eating up my petrol.

no petrol leaks, any chance for large opening and excess petrol vaporization through key hole?

Suspect the carb bowl drain bolt. Inspect the drain tube for any fresh petrol stains.

Only thing bugging is the irritating tappet noise. The engine sounds perfectly fine when cold. But after riding some 10-15kms, its like coins put in a paint can.
