The value before W shows the oil velocity when engines cold, and the value after W shows the oil velocity when its hot.Originally posted by pvsabnis View PostI'm looking for a good mineral oil for my CBZ-X which has completed 2500km mark. Could you please recommend me which is the oil should I go for.
1. Shell Advance AX5 10w30
2. Shell Advance AX5 20w40
3. Motul 3000 4t plus 10w30
What is the diff between 10w30 and 20w40 oils?? HH recommends 10w30, but Honda recommends 20w40. Is there any harm using 20w40 in my CBZ-X?
If you're a fan of acceleration and short city runs then 10W30's the best,
OR,
If you're a fan of long non stop highway riding then 20W40's the best bet you've got.
From personal experience,
10W30 - HH Oil (Made by Tide Water Co.)
20W40 - Gulf Pride 4T Plus
Refurbish you're engine head and check whether the cylinder wall's are scratched, if yes, then the gudgeon pin is to be blamed. And if under warranty the'll be replaced for free.Originally posted by adnansanni View PostGuys tried AFR setting all possible way... loose tappet and readjust. Changed fuel from the tank. Change the engine oil to 10w30 cause here weather temperature is 13/14C. But no luck...
Cold engine less problem, hot engine more problem.
Another problem is rise. The handle wobble higher that 50Km speed. it increased with the speed. it is fully visible when I hand off from the handle.
Anybody faced this problem? I've checked Tyres pressures, rear wheel alignment already.
I had this problem with my new pulsar once, changed all the things but couldn't find out the problem, later had to sell the bike.
The problem with handle is cause of worn out cone set, Replace it.Motorcycling Experience:

Wont advise you of shell Ax5, why dnt u try Ax3 which is mineral oil. Basically u need:
10W30 : cold weather,quick acceleration,short rides (~50-100 km)
20W40 : for hotter weather, no overheating in long rides (>100 km)
So choose wisely deending on ur current location, as its freezing cold in dehradun (~3deg) i m using 10W30 otherwise i always have used 20W40 (Gulf pride 4T/Castrol active/Motul 20W40 are good brands ).

Hi guys!!
as its very cold here in dehradun (~3'c recorded yesterday).I m having dificulty in morning with self start. My cbz-x doesnt start at all. it used to start after giving choke for few seconds but today morning it refused to start any cost.tried push start as well but no luck,. i was like wtf, then i decided to drag it a bit for around 100mt and then i again pust the self start and it started in one go
.
so my MIGHT LOOK FOOLISH question is k would it be better to rotate the rear wheel a bit in the morning so that engine gets some movement and thus the oil gets circulated well inside it thus facilitating cold starts.
i was very disappointed/emberassed today morning left with no other option but to drag my bike, that was like why i bought this bike widout kick, but i feel k little homework can avoid such situation, plz help guys...sigpic

Everything worked well, but a few minutes ago when I went out the wires got loose from the relay and started acting kaput. The main wire from the batter contacted the windtone ones and sounded like a car alarm, so had to disconnect the horns as well.Originally posted by itssaurabh.negi View Post

The current problem am facing is that the wire clips, even though I bought the best quality wont remain fixed, they get loose eventually, so what options do I have???? Am thinking of applying fevi quick.. What say???

If the bike fails to start with choke, then close the fuel and pin the accelerator before starting, bike will cough and die, now turn on fuel and start once again.Originally posted by itssaurabh.negi View PostHi guys!!

Its a bike bro, will evidently show problems. Me too now facing acceleration and lack of pickup issue's. Anyways I somehow suspect the Gulf Pride, will switch to HH 10W30 on next service and see.Motorcycling Experience:

This is why I said earlier that the bike designing engineers have a lot to learn from our discussions. They are not mentioning or considering this possibility or need of changing the viscosity of oil while going for short rides with acceleration in city and long nonstop non-accelerating trips outside city.Originally posted by ashwinprakas View PostIf you're a fan of acceleration and short city runs then 10W30's the best,

They are not considering even the engine or atmospheric temperature while deciding the viscosity of the engine oil to be used. Let those fools learn from us!

Yes, and liquid velocity is the rate of flow.Originally posted by anush View PostAFAIK viscosity is the resistance to flow...
In short, more liquid velocity less viscosity and vice versa.
@punarvasu,
Thanks for pointing out my error. I should'nt have used that term, cause it gives a contradicting meaning to the reader.

Got Motul Mineral for CBZ-X
ok guys.....i got Motul 3000 4T 20w40 in my CBZ-X. Will let you know hows the performance after running few kms. Anyways, also I got NGK Iridium spark plug for the bike. The mechanic has replaced the old one with this. But the box is saying that it's CPR7EAIX-9 (Made in Japan). Also the box is smaller than what I saw on the net. Which is:
NGK Iridium Spark Plug : Hero Honda CBZ Xtreme - 550.00Rs
web site is showing me this one: NGKIHHX
Is this any possibality that he replaced with the wrong model.
What I got is this:

Engineers know about all these things. But they are not recommending it because it may confuse the general users of the bikes. If information like this is given put how many of them will understand?.
Besides that how many people in general use change oil periodically?. Atleast how many take it to SVC for servicing the rides after free services are over? Only a very few do that. General users don't even know what are the engine oil grades used.
I will give an example : Karizma used to be recommended to fill 20w 40 oil earlier. Now 2011 model karizma is recommended with 10w 30 oil. The reason is nobody bothers to idle the bike with 20w 40 they just start and rev the bike and just go. General users doesn't give too much consideration to all these things. And majority users are regular commuters and only a few do long trips. Engineers try to provide the best option that fits the general users
