Since its you're first time you're going to need all the things mentioned here.
      ZMA Tappet Setting for Beginners.

And the feeler guage costs something between 150~200Rs.

      • Braking Efficiency

I Bought a CBZ Xteme - 2011 a month back. it was equipped with double disc brakes. ran only 700km till now.

but my braking efficiency is very low and it's not providing an efficiency of double drum brakes.
even after paying 300rs extra for double disc brakes, if this happens, the product might be faulty.

canu help me and guide me how to increase the braking efficiency for my both disc brakes?

        Thank You

Initialyy there might besum punch lacking in breaking but you will surely notice it ateron. DDouble disc is alywas better than Single/No disc .be patient and avoid sudden braking, u'll get used to it!!

Working of disc brakes is very different than drum.

Well regarding performance there are two things which can be one of the reasons.

            1) Change of pads after being worn out - It reduces performance. ( in your case i dont think so since the bike is new and hardly done any kms)
            2) Pressure being build up, air bubbles in the container. Open the fluid box which is present and ensure there are no bubbles formed and close it tightly with the use of vaccuming (do it at service center only). Something known as brake bleeding, Yes Bleeding. Brake hose also comes in this chapter. You can get it rectified at the SC during your next service.

Also since your brakes are new i suggest give it sometime to work out. Break in for brakes, engines are tires are also present. So just hold on a bit and see how it performs.

            • Today i just escaped from a heavy accident because of this lack of braking efficiency. my CBZ is 700 km old and i feel the same braking efficiency from the start.

can u suggest me any way to increase the braking efficiency? really it doesn't deliver a double disc feel. i have rode many double disc bikes. but this is really a genuine problem. please help

              • 1) the problem wont be of worn out brake pads bcoz its done only 700kms. but when should i change the brake pads?

                2) how long it will take the disc brake to work properly and give good efficiency?

                3) if im changing brake pads in future, will it take more time to deliver good efficiency? like now?

                  1) Depends on your riding 8- 10,000 kms should be enough on the first unit.

                  2) Another 300 to 500kms. Till they are in use with your riding style.

                  3) Yes. Atleast they are set in and are out from the box.

Hold on buddy, its a new bike. Let some time go, let all the components settle down to your type of riding style. Also keep riding in the Break in period. Dont over rev the limit as advised. Go slow, the engine and parts are new.

Welcome to X-Bhp First. Secondly, You need to be clear in your query for good responses, not knowing head & tail will not solve your issue. It took me 10 mins to realize that ur CBZ has rear disc brakes & not dual disc in the front-end seeing that Rs.300 extra that you paid extra to get that confused me even. Call me a noob, but you need to be clear.

                    1) All Disc Brakes require Run-in for the brake pads to break-in before proper usage. So, getting the disc set-up on day 01 & testing panic braking will not help.
                    2) To my knowledge 700 kms is enough for the break-in. As such the rear bite of the disc will be lesser than the front by default to prevent wheel lock-up's.
                    3) By knowing all these & tested the above conditions, if you still feel that the braking is pathetic in the rear, take it to the ASC & ask them to do a bleed on the rear. This will hopefully sortout the issue. Hope it helped.

when i gave my bike for 1st service, i mentioned this problem. but they said it can b used by the company set efficiency and they cant do anything. can you please tell me how i can convince them for increasing the efficiency in braking?

please tell me what is rear bleeding and how it can be done. and other methodes for getting a good response from my disc brakes.

They can't do anything? Mere crap! Ask them to inspect for glazing on the Rotor. Also forgot to ask you, did they or you by any chance use any kind of lube, sprays or addictive on the rotor or the pads? If yes, then you just need to dry the entire area as glazing will not enable the disc pad to hold onto the rotor effectively.

There's nothing about efficiency in braking. It either works or doesn't. Bleeding is a simple process by removing the left-over air bubbles in the hose by a simple way of hydraulic movement created in the master cylinder. Pls. don't do it if you don't know what the DOT-4 liquid is capable of. It can get real messy there!

P.S. On a simple note, Rear disc brakes will be poorer than drum brakes, it is just a thin line to master it. But, once done, You shall never revert back ever again.

                        • Thanks brothers.

i didnt use any kind of lubes on discs tll now.

so i just want to tell them to bleed the brakes for air bubbles and check the glazing.
                          is that fine?

That should bring your problems to a grinding halt provided if you've mastered your braking style. Also while you brake do you have the habit of pulling the clutch in?

                            • i dont usually use the clutch while braking normally. but when i have to stop the bike completely, i use the clutch because , the engine will turn off, otherwise, na?

however i use the brake, the braking efficiency is less and braking distance is very high.

actually, this causes many problems while i ride the bike.

Use 70% front disc and 30% rear ones to avoid rear lock on and for stopping properly...
Does the Front brake lever feel spongy when you apply front brakes ? If it is so then there is :
                                1. Air Bubble in the system or...
                                2. The dual Brake Pistons in the Caliper are stuck,or at least one of them is.
Both are possibilities ,so insist on the SVC doing checking/correction of the 2nd point mentioned, first ,...and then do the brake fluid bleeding and fill up.
