The petrol tank cap has breather holes without which the petrol in tank cannot flow in to the fuel system..so slow evaporation is a possibility..Also remember every Internal combustion engine is a thermal machine whose efficiency increases with heat.So if you have start and stop drives of less Kilometers the bike will give lower mileage due to the engine ,requiring time to achieve operating temperature,at every such event.Originally posted by abhisheklalnediya View PostLast edited by psr; 01-14-2012, 11:01 PM.When Was The Last Time,You Did Something For The First Time.

ohh god is oil plays this much milage issue. last time also i used 20w40.Originally posted by Arjun_shetty View PostUpdate the mileage after using 20w40 please. My xtreme mileage was as low as 38 when i was using castrol 20w40.now back to normal of 50kmpl after switching back to oem 10w30.
my milage is 40-42kmpl max .
My doubt i read that some of friends here getting 50kmpl+ are they using 10w30 oil?
at 60kmph now not feeling so hard. before oil change after crossing 55kmph feel a little more vibration. now cool after running 1kmsOriginally posted by itssaurabh.negi View Postany change in Sound/vibrations ?? would suggest u to use rubber handle grip (in case u not using them
). Such a difference it makes on ur mind.Lesser vibrations are felt on ur wrist as compared to stock handle grip

what will be the avg city milage for some one getting 55 on high way?
should i turn off the petrol on-off-reserv valve while parking for a long time?

If you get 55 highway you can expect 45 in city..It is a good practice to turn off petrol tap when stopping and parking bike for some time.Originally posted by abhisheklalnediya View Posti checked every there, under the seat n tank, every tube ends, no petrol or even other oils deteced.

20W40 is always preferred for long/high speed trips.only thing against it is Cold start issues which are present even with 10W30.so if u live in a place where temp hardly goes below 10-15 deg,use 20W40.Originally posted by ATHUL4R View Postohh god is oil plays this much milage issue. last time also i used 20w40.

I used to get get 50-55 on long trips (<40kms) with 20W40 only with little lean mixture, now since i have tuned it to little rich i'm getting somewhere around 40
.

aside please confirm whether ur engine stalls suddenly if u r riding in neutral gear and suddenly apply brakes and come to stop ? me having this issue and cant figure it out why its happening ?

but some times if i pour 1l and ride some, keep it a day or two doing short rides of abt 8~10 kms max, i am getting only 40~43 or some times under 35 if the number of days increase(abt 4days).
The thing is while in a long trip trip u hardly stop and continue ur ride in one go with most of the times being in higher gears, thus giving you the higher mileage.though for multiple short trips inside city requires frequent start-stops which'll consume much of oil only in start-stop process
. moreover i cant expect 4/5th gear most of the times in city,so that is the reason behind this.apart from the technical point explained by PSR sir (reminded me of my collg mechanical faculty, everytime u have a problem,he APPEARS out of no'where and had a reason/solution for u. there should be a HATS OFF smiley in message option
.
as i dont have a car shed , i park my cbc under the shade of a tree and cover it with a cover which i got on purchase time, and i don't think sun is eating up my petrol.
No way unless ur ride is leaking which ain't.
no petrol leaks, any chance for large opening and excess petrol vaporization through key hole?I guess we all have to live with it.look for some loose metal parts which may be contributing to this noise(such as number plate,or horn plate or even crash guards bolts),2 of'em where loose in my rideOriginally posted by sooraj_vs View PostGot the 4th service done. Feels refreshed.
odo reading ??
Only thing bugging is the irritating tappet noise. The engine sounds perfectly fine when cold. But after riding some 10-15kms, its like coins put in a paint can.
SVC guys never get it right. Can't let local ones fiddle with it; they may not even know the correct clearance.
Whats the way outta here.. ?

and believe me one doesnt feel much of this tappet noise while he's driving, isn't it ??? so just enjoy the smooth ride and ignore this tappet noise.u r nt the only one to have this

And yea, it only audible when I stop at signals or go down an incline. Otherwise only wind
But a loose tappet aint good, is it..? It lowers both performance and economy..MOTORCYCLING IS AS MUCH ART AS IT IS SCIENCE

I believe, If you rip hard all the time the tappets get loose withing 1K Kms. If you dont rip at all then they're good for 6k max.
Am looking for a detailed service manual, will post the exact interval after finding it.Motorcycling Experience:
2000 ~ 2017 Y2K Kinetic Zoom (Disposed at 15k)
2011 ~ 2015 Hero Honda Karizma R (Sold at 56.5k)
2013 ~ 2014 Bajaj Discover 100 4G (Sold at 16.5k)
2015 ~ 2017 TVS Wego (Totaled at 18k)
2015 - Bajaj Pulsar 220F (Currently 31k) < Garage Queen!
