I dont ride while the choke is on, and I am quite familiar with the warming up technique. Its just that this time on I have to deliberately use choke, else the bike wont start.

Bappaditya it would be better if you put your name in xBhp, good for me to notice you.
Actually I don’t check xBph.com usually, I’m active very much in orkut communities.
How many Km you have done yet in your last Gulf Pride? And this oil works perfect till to how many km? Yes I’ve noticed the CP1 10w30 just increase the acceleration.
Yes copied your number. Will get you back soon. And also me too very anxious for a short trip on bike, as I’ve never did this before. But as I told you abt my office. Just let me make some space. Surely we will make a good road trip. And also tell me your range of KM and Times duration for a trip on bike.

I have been using my RTR180 off late for everything. My xtreme was lying around and thought it deserved to be ridden. So,i went on a short ride today but I noticed "krr" sound from the engine when the tacho needle went past 4k rpm. There was no problem whatsoever throughout the rev range though other than afore mentioned. It happened only while rising from lower rpms.Any idea why this is happening?...my question is,why only at 4k.I'm facing no other problems with the bike.Btw,my bike has clocked over 42k,if the info helpsIt all begins with a thumb-start -- Oh, wait, I forgot the kill-switch

Had a similar issue with my Hunk recently. It also 'Feels' as if the gearbox is harsh. I did a basic oil change (3rd service) and it went away...Originally posted by srini View PostI have been using my RTR180 off late for everything. My xtreme was lying around and thought it deserved to be ridden. So,i went on a short ride today but I noticed "krr" sound from the engine when the tacho needle went past 4k rpm. There was no problem whatsoever throughout the rev range though other than afore mentioned. It happened only while rising from lower rpms.Any idea why this is happening?...my question is,why only at 4k.I'm facing no other problems with the bike.Btw,my bike has clocked over 42k,if the info helpsRiding the BULL....(with out the LET)...

By the way... Which engine oil are you using... My Hunk is due for 2nd service and I'm planning to go for Shell advance SX 4T Mineral Oil... Have heard lot good about this mineral oil and best of all is it is 10W30...Originally posted by Motorcyclist View PostHad a similar issue with my Hunk recently. Not only the engine oil makes the gears feels harsh, gear leaver also makes it feels harsh. Grease and lube all gear leaver play points also change the oil.Originally posted by Motorcyclist View PostHad a similar issue with my Hunk recently. It also 'Feels' as if the gearbox is harsh. I am still on the HH oil (my service center stocks idemitsu/valvoline.). It is good till about 1200 kms of ripping or 1800 or so of regular riding. After that just top up and continue using...it is good enough.
One very important point that I follow...when you start the bike, keep it on idle for atleast 2 minutes for starts after a long break (2 hours+). Dont do this when bike is on side stand. use main stand or sit on the bike and do this. Your gearbox and engine will run smoother.Last edited by Motorcyclist; 01-15-2010, 11:40 PM.Riding the BULL....(with out the LET)...

K sure... I understand that when engine temperature goes high valve clearance increases but when i ride for some ten kms or my idling shoots up to 2.5k and sometimes upto 3k on hot afternoon... is it ok...the idling is set correctly thoughOriginally posted by Motorcyclist View PostI am still on the HH oil (my service center stocks idemitsu/valvoline.). When the engine worm up 2.5 k or 3k RPM is not normal. 1k to 1.4k RPM is normal. When the engine completely wormed up ie after ridden 5-10 km, tune the idle screw and set the idle speed exactly 1.4-1.3k rpm. So if the engine is healthy when the engine start at cold then the rpm would be 1k rpm and as the engine will worm up the rpm will goes to 1.4k RPM.Speed is a joy but roads are not race track.
