Bitter experience at yamaha service centre , Mangalore
hey guys i had a very bad experience when i took my 30 day old SZR for 1st service the day before.. i am posting a copy of the email i sent to yamaha regarding this.

Hi,
I am writing this mail to convey my bitter experience i had with a yahama service center here in Mangalore. I bought a Yamaha SZ-R last 15th july from Mangalore BIkers, Falnir, Mangalore. Yesterday i had taken the bike for the first service at the service centre ( in Balmatta, mangalore) as i was done almost 980kms and nearing the 1month mark. The following were my points communicated to the service advisor there:
1.head light needs to aligned, as the beam is focusing way above the road.
2.1 rubber plug for the grab rails were missing hence to be installed.
3.The metal cover for the choke cable from the left handle bar has rusted heavily and need replacement, as the bike is hardly a month old. (see attached Photo)
4.To check a 'tak tak' sound from the front side, which arises while riding on rough roads.
The service advisor promised a delivery on 1pm the same day. When i went to pick up my bike at 2 pm. Points 2,3,4 were not done as promised. I had to wait another 45 mins to get them to put the rubber plug in. I was given a reply from the service advisor that the rusting of the metal part of the choke cable could not be done anything by them and that the warranty does not cover this. I am totally dissatisfied with this as my bike is hardly 1month and very well used and maintained so far. I bought a yamaha bike only for their reliability and quality and not to expect this from yamaha.
After discussing with the rust issue which they said they cannot help, the bike was brought out in the sunlight from the service center & following were my findings:
1. Bike is not washed properly, i had to point out all the places where the dirt/grime/dust were present for them to wipe it again with a wet cloth.
2. My left mirror was broken to my surprise, when i asked them about it, he argued with me saying that it was broken when i got it here, but i know that it was not broken when i brought it as i take good care of my bike. I had to have a heated argument and i demanded a replacement. I called up the manager at the sales center and she too with out even seeing the bike at first tried to convince me that it was already broken when i got it for service. After much heated arguments they finally replaced it to me with out a charge.
I am totally disappointed at the kind of experience i had to go through with yamaha . I am attaching a photo showing the rust of the metal part of the choke cable. The bike is hardly a month old and such a rust is unacceptable . I request you to direct the service centre to replace the item free of cost as only cheap parts get rusted in a month and is not expected from a quality maintainer like Yamaha.
A disappointed Customer

We used 3M Liquid Premium Wax for polishing,First wash your bike and allow it to dry or wipe it neatly,Then start applying the wax and wipe it off with a clean cloth,It will start shining like new.All you need is some free time.Originally posted by psycho_omkar View PostHey, your bike looks indeed very new.. Calm it down buddy. It happens, it happened with me too. Make sure you provide them Chassis number, engine number, date of purchase, registration number, your mobile number registered with them.Originally posted by Dj SZR View Posthey guys i had a very bad experience when i took my 30 day old SZR for 1st service the day before.. i am posting a copy of the email i sent to yamaha regarding this.

After sending them these details, give them a call, and please dont shout on call center guys, those guys are very helpful. Tell them your all problems, ask them to provide with the case number. Trust me on this Yamaha is very responsive on it. Call them up and get everything fixed. Talk to area service manager as well get the name and number from call center. Show them your disappointment but in calm words. There is no point in talking to sales guys, those guys are nuts and bolts, knows nothing about bikes and only knows to sell them.
Call them up and get everything rectified and fixed.
Cheers!

new baby sz-r arrived today
I bought yamaha sz-r today in hyderabad and paid 64490 at ganesh motors. The Bike was delivered on the spot after completing all the formalities.
My first observations with bike
======================
No vibrations
smooth and comfortable in all gears
lacks enough acceleration to overtake
sitting position felt high and comfortable
Braking from 50 to 10 to slowdown tried few times and felt very happy. It gave me confidence as there is no sliding or lack of control in braking. Front disc break excellent and rear break alone not that good. But when both applied together it is more than enough and superb.
After riding 25 kms heat can be felt on legs. Gave rest to my baby for today.
Planning to change to mineral oil 10w30/40 at around 80 kms as suggested by many during run-in.

Congrats for your new bike.Originally posted by u25k View PostI bought yamaha sz-r today in hyderabad and paid 64490 at ganesh motors. The Bike was delivered on the spot after completing all the formalities.
Engine is new,so will took time to settle down, avoid ripping and be gentle with the throttle now.lacks enough acceleration to overtake
Engine heating for a new engine is normal,It will vanish after each service,So nothing to worry on it.After riding 25 kms heat can be felt on legs. Gave rest to my baby for today.
Yeah, good move. But the best time will be around 150kms at that time the engine will be ran for some kms and there will be many iron particles.Stick to stock oil till run in period,Yamalube is a good oil.Planning to change to mineral oil 10w30/40 at around 80 kms as suggested by many during run-in.

I have selected SZ-R finally and this is my experience in choosing a bike
================================================== ===
I am reading all the reviews and forums regularly since one month. I have finalised few bikes as my priority -fzs, karizma and apache 180.
I went to yamaha showroom and seen the fz series bikes and got shocked. The tank looked disproportionate and too big. The pillion seat too small and like high heel sandal. This bike aimed only for single riders and not for family purpose and pillion comfort is totally ignored.
Then went to hero motocorp showroom and seen hunk and cbz extreme. No karizma stock available. The bikes look like assembled and made by roadside mechanics. The build quality and materials used for seats and bolts were very poor. The plastic parts look like faded already and used since few years. Just ran away as quickly as possible and promised never think about hero again.
Then went to HONDA showroom and seen unicorn. The bike looked awesome. It is beautiful and high quality finishing. Good rider and pillion comfort seating. But waiting period was told 40 days to 60 days. I can't wait so missed it.
Next day I went to TVS and seen apache. I loved black apache hyperedge. White apache looked awful. I hate it and with abs you don't have colour choice. One bike few months old white one was outside. The colour had already faded badly. It looked few years old which was handled badly. Possibly tvs bikes are not of good quality finishing.
Then went to Yamah showroom again. Seen szr bike. I felt so happy to see it matching all criteria. Front disc break, seating comfort for rider and pallion. Good quality finishing and make. Good sporty looks. Readily available to take home immediately. Gave the money and took it to home happily.
I am very happy for not choosing hunk (junk), apache (a patchy bike), fz-s (funky not practical family bike), unicorn ( standing in Q).

Congrats on your new bike bro. Which color? Even I dropped Unicorn because of long waiting period. I wonder how many customers Honda is missing due to this. Anyways its good to see the number of SZ owners growing...Originally posted by u25k View PostI bought yamaha sz-r today in hyderabad and paid 64490 at ganesh motors. Friends,
Today, first service of SZR was done. Everything went well.
Bike's front wheel produce sound (seems friction between disc and brake pad) when it's rotated with heard closely. I brought this into notice of mechanic at SVC, he showed other bikes, sound was prominent in most. He said sound with go away eventually after some time.
Also, before taking bike to SVC for service I drove it beyond 65 for the first time and experienced heavy vibrations. Speedometer shows 960 kms. Is it still early for me to touch that zone yet ?
Surely after 5-6k I'll switch to SS or FS. But I need you guys to share your thoughts.

Have a nice day folks :-)

You touched 65 after 800km, that should be fine.
I touched 80 today after doing 40km on a new bike. I could not resist to test its speed. I did it only for few seconds so should not be a problem. I didn't feel vibrations but because of upright seating position I felt wind hitting hard at that speed. But enjoyed the ride on whole. I travelled around 35km today and out of which 25km just for fun.
