You're right bro, its true taxes are high here. But its even more with Yamaha products. Other brands are not this much costly here. For example Suzuki Slingshot is only 1-2 thousands more than in other places. Anyways tomorrow I'll get the bike. So it'll be clear to me if the extra money is worth it or not... Hoping for the best...

      • How SZ-R shifts gears compared to Splendor?

Hi guys, please tell me how smooth or rough is gear shifting in SZ-R compared to splendor... Since tomorrow I am getting my SZ-R and as I said earlier, I am not used to manual gear bikes, I tried practicing my friend's splendor. I struggled to put it in 1st gear, but after that I was ok in shifting up and down. I feel quite confident now. Also please tell me how gear shifting varies from a new bike to a bike used for say an year. His bike is in a very good condition.

        Thanks

@ashwin, so is it ok to ride at 60-70kmph after 500kms? I'll try and keep it at a medium range of recommended speed and rpms.

Yeah bro, but its always better to do what you feel is right, rather than listen to me or the SVC'c cause you'r the one riding it.

And if you keep running the bike constantly at a speed/rpm there'll be piston glazing, even though some say the chances of it happening are low, I believe its there cause my ZMA-R has completed 2200kms so far, and about 1/4th of it I've maintained 4k rpm, so what I've noticed now is that the bike vibes around 4k but nothing above or below it, and by vibes I meant the visor shaking as we accelerate hard.

Lol dont worry, you wont be having that sort of prob's in SZ-R or any other bike that has 1down rest up pattern, cause 1st IS ALWAYS DOWN , And Yamaha bike have also another interesting thing about them, the 1st gear always sits above the rest, so overall less confusion.

NOTE- Guys looking for toe only shifter, swap with the ones found in Unicorn.

              • ashwin and atul, thanks bros... I was concerned mainly because I've seen many guys unable to shift gears properly and stopped in the middle of the road... I just really don't want to be stuck like that in traffic.

                  Hey BRo

Dont worry I was also like you in the begining.

even if it stops just press the self start button

                  And just drive

                    • Krishna,

Few pennies from my end. I owned SZ-R for past 6 months. To summarize its a problem free bike.

At the time of delivery the dealer would be giving you a book which we call 'User Manual' in that user manual there are all the things explained thoroughly from what RPM you need to maintain for how many kms to which oil grade to use. Do read manual carefully and not once but twice, thrice.

I strictly followed manual, did not even go one step out of it. Result: Bike ultra butter smooth, no vibrations at all, 30-80 kmph in no time I even do it on small patches less than 500 mts, gear shift ultra smooth. More importantly if I ride my bike in green zone I get more than 50 kmpl mileage, and on ripping I get mileage between 40-45 kmpl.

Let me know if you want any more information.

                      Cheers!

Yeah it is on slightly lower side, but I take it happily, because I dont ride my bike much, mainly for the weekend rides, for most of the time it is parked in open space, so I am considering the loss of petrol due to evaporation.

This bike is irresistible every time i ride it, unknowingly the speedo touches 70 kmph, the acceleration is very good. So may be the second reason why the mileage on slightly lower side.

LOl... Stoping in the middle of the road's for enfields and zma's and all... Cause SZ-R's like automatic. Even in 5th gear if you stop, just accelerate and release the clutch slowly. Ive tested the above on Athul's bike, the engine's super smooth.. The bike takes off effortlessly in 5th gear.
The only negative part is that from 80kmph there'll be a small tingle in your hand, as you go above 110 you'r palms will start to ache , after all its a 153cc mill.... Anyways, Its the best in its class.

Wow you have touched 110 Kmph on SZ-R? Thats great! I manage to touch 103 Kmph on small empty patch of the road, and no vibs at all. I loved it.
