ContiGo is available at 140/80 17 not 140/70 17Originally posted by Duoscribe View Postnow that we are at it has anyone thought of using the Continental tyre used on CBR250? its shares the same profile of PSD (140/70 17). so i'm guessing its gonna be a direct fit. the ODMAG review mentions it to be good.

140/70 should be available with honda and other tyre dealers within a month or so because it is being used in the cbr250. so hopefully we will get another option apart from revz and pirelli sd.
but regarding other things stated by digitalD. i dont have a problem.
i am yet to change the front and rear brakes, have changed the air filter once that too at 12000km. just one puncture in the rear tyre in the past 1.5 years.
and dude fazer is not a bike which performs well in the higher revz. fz and fazer are made for city riding which means instantaneous acceleration from o-60 and not for sustained speeds of 90+ on a regular basis. i have been using fz from the past 1.5 years and till now havent faced anything major apart from a relay which needed replacement. i am a regular user of the highway too on which i maintain speeds of 90-100kmph. but that too once or twice in a month or so. regarding brakes replacement it depends on the usage and varies person to person it is not the fault of the bike.
if you wanted continuos speeds of 90+ in city for daily purposes i am sorry to say that "yes you have chosen a wrong bike you should have gone for something else."
P.S: why dont you buy a puncture repair kit? it costs somewhere around 150rs for 4 rubber strips and the kit. it is quite handy and easy to use.Last edited by kinshuk.arya; 08-01-2011, 11:58 AM.Timon: Orange Yamaha FZ16 2009

I would not say you've chosen the wrong bike , For that matter any other 150cc would behave very much the same way if you pushed it at 90+ all the time ...Originally posted by kinshuk.arya View Post

The point here is , With aggressive riding comes more wear and tear , that is but natural ... You need to be able to accept the fact that your bike's maintenance will be higher and the parts replacement interval shorter ...People ask me , why are you cribbing about the BHP ? to them I say "MORE is never ENOUGH" xbhp.com

First of all no one here is ignoring your posts. Its just that guys here must not be having answers to your questions and thats the reason no one is replying. As simple as that. We all are here to help each other and get our issues resolved.Originally posted by digitalD View Postgot the tyre repaired, there were 4 different spots with something or the other lodged into the tyre, the repair guy took 150/- for each one.. total cost 600/-
I tried to inquire about the replacement tyres too, but MRF Revz has been reported to be out of stock for almost 2 months now and Pirelli SD were not available in Navi Mumbai.. The dealer however suggested that I can use another one which is 120/80 - 17 and would be a direct fit.. the price for this one was 2350/-
I didnt want to go for a thinner one so I refused.. but honestly, what options have I got now.. if Revz continue to be out of stock and Pirelli are >3500 ..
and so much trouble only within less than a year of owning the bike..
I never thought I would ever say this, but really, this is now getting to be an expensive and painful affair.. In less than a year, I have got both front and rear brakes replaced, so is the case with air-filter and I would need to replace the clutch plate and SPRocket too in a few days (just waiting for monsoons to get over). During the past few months, I had to take the bike for servicing every few days for something or the other.. All this, when I have been regular with the scheduled servicing.
Yes, I ride ~60 kms daily to work and yes, I ride at 90+ speeds most times.. but my logic is, if I had to go any slower, I would have settled for a splendor in the first place. Why go for a higher capacity bike when you dont want to use its power? .. And if a Fazer cant handle 90+ speeds without so many issues, its a big fail IMHO..
P.S.: I've noticed that off late, not many people have been responding to my posts here... are my questions too stupid to be bothered about or am I really being ignored?
REVZ and PSD both are prone to punctures. Its bound to happen. I faced a lot of problems with punctures with my old REVZ but got it replaced dirt cheap from MRF for a new one. My friend who has a PSD is also facing puncture issues. So basically we cant help. Mumbai roads are bad and we cant avoid punctures. Navi-Mumbai is the worst place for punctures. If you cross the Vashi toll naka you can easily see lots of nails and screws lying on the roads. And on both sides of the roads you will find as many as 7-8 puncture repair shops. I am sure that these people are the ones who are responsible for most of the punctures there.
As far as regular service goes I have replaced my Air Filter, Spark Plugs, Disk Pad, Brake Liner as part of regular service at 12K Kms (They didn't go bad.....but I replaced it as per the manual). Also my starter motor went bad and it was replaced by Yamaha after a lot of fight. Maintenance is a part and parcel of any machine. If you own a machine you need to maintain it and its bound to create issues. The issues faced in your bike will not be same as mine and thats why we are here to help each other and gain knowledge.
Yesterday I went for the 15T Unicorn front sprocket. I drove around 100 Kms on the Eastern & Western Express highway and the effect was amazing. Stress on the engine was very less as compared to stock. So if you drive regularly on highways then try 15T setup. I am sure you will like it.
PS: Above mentioned things are just my opinion and came from my experience. I am sorry if you feel offended by any of my above comments.

I dropped the plan of going for the 15T as i didn't want to lose the fun and my riding is not always in highways its 50% highways and 50% local runsOriginally posted by RAK View PostYesterday I went for the 15T Unicorn front sprocket. Hey man, maybe you could go for the Joel mods, after which the engine won't be stressed at even 100+ ..Originally posted by digitalD View Postgot the tyre repaired, there were 4 different spots with something or the other lodged into the tyre, the repair guy took 150/- for each one.. total cost 600/-

SMILE??? even after 1.5 years of usage i still grin like an idiot for a couple of minutes whenever i redline the engine... its fun until and unless you are below 100....Originally posted by RAK View Post

for highways... 15T mod strongly recommended....

if its just 1000kms and the oil is at its minimum than you need to check if your bike is leaking oil from somewhere....Originally posted by Sunjay Kumar View PostI am sorry i forgot to mention the main thing i have done only 1000kms

Its not leaking but my doubt is that during my second service a month backOriginally posted by kinshuk.arya View Postif its just 1000kms and the oil is at its minimum than you need to check if your bike is leaking oil from somewhere....
they had changed the Oil Filter so i didn't see that guy pouring oil from 2 cans since in the manual it says if the Oil filter element is replaced then 1.20ltr of oil should be put
Is this the reason why mine is showing the low level reading
And
Will they sell Yamalube mineral oil from the SVC counter how much does it cost
