@ All: i hope you guys realise that there is a serious amount of OT on KTM on an FZ/Fazer thread. Would request to kindly discuss it on KTM thread.Originally posted by muztariq View Postthe on road price of ktm 200 here in hyd is around 133000 INR. That of Fz would be around 76000 INR. Where is the comparison.. Its like comparing a Honda Cbr 250 with my fazer 150... Just comparing the naked looks is not sufficient to let down the fz.. It still is the most macho bike under 85k segment!
Never tried 0-60 in 5.5 sec. Never tried speed more than 105 km/hr. Never installed any performance upgrades. Never tried increasing rpms to improve my Fazer's performance. Just enjoy cruising at 80-90 km/hr with no gear changes even when slowing down to 30 km/h and again picking up. The feeling is like driving a car without the body.
It still solves my purpose!
Please note: Fazer 2011 for sale, delivery as per ktm 200's waiting period (just kidding, it wont happen)

By pre-2011, I meant the original and upgraded versions. Many parts have been changed in FZ's in India with the launch of the kick-start version. Complete FZ series same the underpinnings as far I know. May I kindly request that you explain how this (anyway: short!) discussion on the comparative merits of a FZ and a KTM would be more OT on the FZ thread than on a KTM one if it was moved over there???Originally posted by shv18 View Post@ All: i hope you guys realise that there is a serious amount of OT on KTM on an FZ/Fazer thread. Cheers,
I would sincerely like to have the moderators opinion on this....but maybe just mentioning this is OT???When I do something stupid, my consolation is to know that I'll do the worse one only once!

Thank for this schematic Christo....but I do not understand it very well!Originally posted by christo View PostFazer Dual light setup.
Would you please mind clarifying this sort of "double setup": two light all the time OR one for each use...???
Actually, since the HID projectors are quite small while the space for lights on the Fazer are large, it seems to me that interesting setup may be to have two medium power projectors each side, both able to give high and low beam simultaneously, plus two smaller, long range ones, on high beam only of course, of lower power (otherwise I am afraid the alternator would not be able to cope with that four lights demand and the battery run flat pretty fast). This would be somewhat similar to some rally car setups....(minus the fog light of course!).
I found the lights on the Fazer a bit disappointing when I compare to the setup I have on my other bike (a Chinese, but very well built tourer): One big central light with a H4, and two long range additional lights. Very good light all over the road with the big one, excellent when needing to "have a look farther" with the long range ones...and occasionally very efficient to attract other divers attention (or to ask them to get in low beams!)
Has anyone tried/ heard of/ studied such a four projector (four eyes!) setup on a Fazer? When I do something stupid, my consolation is to know that I'll do the worse one only once!

Hi mateOriginally posted by Mad Mik View Post2010 fazer (Lucky Luc) has the same wiring as my 2011 FZS.... We both bought our CDI's from the same guy.
My Fazer is a 2011 model
. That may be why I cannot plug-in our CDI either!
Your and my stock CDI have a built in eight pin plug plus a two pin one at the end of a wire, while what we received has an eight pin plug (out of which seven actually exist) plus another four pin (into which only two wires are connected), plus another two pin plug that is short circuited. Does that look like what has got older (2010 or earlier) models ???
I would add that the seller did inform me that, when fitted, the red "engine malfunction" light will not come up anymore. Not really "plug-and-play"!!!!
Anyway: would any here know of any dual band CDI, preferably programmable, and that would really fit our 2011 models? Joel sells such a CDI but does not respond to my mails (too busy...or sectarian?) and I do not know if it can be fitted on my bike. Can someone inquire?
Edited to add: the moderators/ forum "police" recommend that "multi quote" gets used instead of multiple messages. Does that apply to a post with various responses to various subjects or only to posts with multiple responses to basically the same subject?
Anyway: could one kindly tell me how to do it a simple and convenient way, without resourcing to multiple come-backs and copy-paste of the quoted message, and use of multiple "[" and other "(backslash)]" etc...???
ThanksLast edited by Lucky Luke; 03-04-2012, 02:34 PM.When I do something stupid, my consolation is to know that I'll do the worse one only once!

There is a little plus button next to the quote option on the right hand bottom corner luke ... click on that button for every post you want to quote and then hit reply and you're good to goOriginally posted by Lucky Luke View PostHi mate

synthetic engine oil..
Hey guys,
my dad owns a 2009 fazer, which i ride.
it has completed 6600kms till date,
but the engine has become a tad rough and the acceleration has also become hard, i am not feeling the same smoothness as before.
Around 5000 kms my dad changed the engine oil with synthetic engine oil(total quartz fully synthetic) which was left after he used it for his swift.
The oil can be used for 10000 kms for the car, can i use the oil for 10000 kms or need to change it and is it the problem of the engine oil or something else???Built like a bike, goes like a rocket--KTM DUKE 390
