Will carb tuning still be required if we go for free flow air filter/K&N ?

Though a bit costly go for mushroom type puncture repair for longer life of the tire.

Even if you remove the filter the motorcycle loses power. Read here. Also there is too much confusion over which size jets to be used in case of K&N. So best bet would be to use stock filter. Do some mode in the jet & during return do not forget to set it back to stock.

About the carb tuning issue faced by Vishwas & others, here's a small simple DIY

I can do it myself if the need be (will learn to open the carb & access main jets from my mech) but i'll rather let the experienced mechanics in such regions to take care of this issue right from as soon as manali. I'm also considering using a custom free flow air filter rather than removing air filter altogether as most people do there. Lets see how that goes.
Please do share the name and rates offered with whichever tire you go ahead with. If possible do share the name, address and no. of the tire seller.. so that i can follow your footsteps a few thousand kms later

they will do the PDI to check for problems but check for any scratches on the body, check if the indicators and headlight work, check for all the nuts and bolts(one side stand bolt was missing in my case) before leaving the showroom
Also look for rust and small scratches on headlamp and side exhaust, which are the most usual suspects. I checked everything, but forgot to check the tail lamp and there were few minor scratches there. But used polish and fixed them soon. Which colour ur opting for?

1> U said the Front Disc Brake makes a lot of noise when u Push it with hands without the engine on. Does it imply that wen u press the brakes when the bike is stationary (without engine being on) it makes noise. Honestly m just not getting what you are trying to say here.

Thanks brother for the reply. What i mean to say is that, if the front wheel is rotated when the bike is stationary or moving, it makes a noise which is unpleasant. Kind off, heavy friction. Will wait once my second service is done, that is what the Service Guy has said the noise should be gone / reduced.

2> If u are riding Above the speed of 60 and u hit a medium size pot hole then any bike will send the shock up ur back. If you are riding below 30 n still getting uncomfortable feedback or jerks from the shock absorber then they need to be checked.

Well, the speed is not above 60 normally. I drive between 45-50 KPH. Still i fell the jerks hit the back. Will wait and watch till my next service is due. Hopefully things can be in other direction by that time. The from tyre pressure is 28PSI & Rear is 33PSI. This is the company recommended tyre pressures, anything to do with this? Can jerks be associated with this?

3> MRF Zapper Revz that come with this bike are the best Indian tires i have seen till date put on an made in India Bike. They stick like a leach and give one full confidence to lean into a corner. Plz tell me at wat speed n circumstanced do u feel the rear tire loosing grip. What really happens which makes u feel the tire is loosing grip.

Well, off lately i am not feeling and slippage in the rear tyre. I think the tyres were new, maybe that might be the reason.

The tires also need a bit of run in till the grooves set in and then they will provide you the grip on road that FZs are known for. The company recommended tire pressure is absolutely fine. If you want higher speed and better drag times (avoid doing it on streets please!!) then the ideal tire pressure is 29 front and rear 35 psi. But the ride definitely becomes bumpy.

I feel it is just an initial notion about getting too much jerks... run it for a few more 100 kms if you still feel that the problem is there then get it checked from a service center.

Make sure that you do lot of gear braking and deceleration roll down to ensure the engine breaks in properly.

                        All the best,

                        Cheers

                          Hey Mitz,

If i am not wrong.. Michelin Sirac is not a Tubeless tire and the same may be the case with the TVS. However, on other forums, people have installed it without the tube and the tire doesn't leak any air till it hits 17k+ kms. i think bcm touring has a thread dedicated for michelin a simple google search should help.

MRF Zapper Q has 140-70/17... though not off-roading tire, looks like made of tougher rubber compound.

Hi I presume, that you have still not finished your bike's initial 1000 kms run-in yet i.e. keeping the engine rev below 4500 rpm. To ensure that the break-in happens properly, when you are decelerating towards say a signal or want to do a stop, shift from say 5th gear to 4th and so on, your engine will act as a brake, slowing down the bike and also in the process will help breaking in the engine better.

When you are riding also shift gears constantly putting various load on the bike's engine. You may not get good mileage during this first run-in period and also the gear box may feel a bit clunky/ neutral would be hard to come by. But post 1st service your bike will become smoother and by that time brakes, engine & tires would have had done a decent amount of kms to provide you optimum performance.

If you learn the art of gear braking to decelerate, your bike's stock brakes will last you quite a lot of kms. I am closing 18k and both the front and rear are still in good shape and will easily cross 20k+ till they need any replacement.

                              Cheers,

Already called up quite a few dealers & have been quoted well for several tyres. I'll have to find some time to visit some of the most prominent tyre shops that I've contacted & see personally what they have to offer.
will update here once i visit the tyre shops

                                Best Regards,
Didn't knew M-Siracs are tube tyres.. Confirmed it from a dealer who has Sirac & he assured 120-17 shall fit well with FZ, they've done it.

Superking looks good, will have to dig in the details & reviews if any. Co-incidentally just met a FZ owner yesterday who had a different looking tyre then stock. I inquired & got to know it is King's tyre. I presume this must be the same brand. Though the thread pattern was no way Off-road pattern, the owner assured me the rear tyre had excellent grip in Rajmachi last season. He had used that tyre for over a year now & still the tyre looked sturdy enough with deep threads. (It definitely was a hard compound tyre)
The owner was in rush so didn't enquire where in mumbai to buy/ what it costs, but i have his contact no. so will get back to him.

Meanwhile i found three other tyres too.
                                1) Duro BMX tyres. True offroading. Excellent performance as per the review of owner 'Aryan' who too it to Leh last year on his Fazer. Check the tyre pics in SachinNair's leh thread.
                                2) Ceat (forgot the name)
                                3) Continental Go (hard compound, cheaper, though no good reviews for the same.)

So now a potentially wider manufacturer base to choose from for any Yamaha FZ16/FZ-s/Fazer owners out there i.e

                                1) MRF stocks
                                2) Michelin sirac
                                3) Pirelli SD
                                4) Dunlop TG
                                5) TVS EG Pancer
                                6) CEAT
                                7) Superking
                                8) Duro bmx tyres
                                9) Contigo

(No assumptions/guesses - All the above can be used/are being used with FZ, although current availability may be an issue)

PS: I wish i knew one more to make a list of 10 options
