    @aargee
    psr sir
Please mention the odo reading, oil used and general riding style. For the stated 2300 Kms at an average of 30Kms per liter you might have used 76.7 Liters of petrol. For a four stroke normal engine 1 to 1.5 percent oil consumption is normal that said if there is any oil deposit at the end of the silencer or smoke when reved should be investigated. Stop and go traffic consumes slightly more engine oil than steady highway cruising.
    Good luck.

Psr sir, using shell advance ultra 10w40 fully synthetic. Odo is at 68k kms.

No deposit of oil near silencer. No smoke of any kind. No visible leaks spotted near gaskets. No noise from engine, it is still running butter smooth.

That being said, i did carry 1 liter of oil with me but never topped up during entire trip.

I was riding between 96-120 kmph all the time, with occasional bursts to check the top speed on empty stretches.

Couple of times, I rode for 350kms non stop. Only stopped for fuel break for 10 mins.

      Thanks.

The oil consumption you had indicated is normal . I had indicated checking other parameters just to be sure there is no oil consumption due to other reasons.
        Good Luck.

This seems to be common with CBR250R.
Even before my bike's weep hole oil leak issue, the engine oil levels would drop and I would top up every 1000 kms (Another good reason why I always store the remaining half litre of engine oil can after using 1.5 litres). But the top ups would always be approximately 100ml at the maximum. Never got to know how the oil level drops even though there were no leaks and smoke earlier.

With my recent weep hole leak issue, I'm noticing a slight drop in the oil level at just 400 KMs since my last service.

(PS - Check the oil level from the inspection window after 5 mins of engine being off and keep the bike straight yourself or tell someone else hold it straight. Don't use paddock as it won't show a 100% accurate oil level because the rear end will be slightly lifted)

          • Also, I do believe as long as the engine oil level is comfortably between the upper and lower level markings at the inspection window and there aren't leakages, there is nothing to worry. Just the OCD to have everything in the bike in perfect order used to make me want to top up the oil level to nearby the upper level mark even though it wasn't that necessary.

            • Update on cheap alternative for CBR250R C-ABS front brake pads.

Thanks to shv18 for his posts 2 pages back where he provided us with some information about NIKAVI brake pads.

I have always run OEM brake pads for my bike. But off lately, my usage is extremely low (maximum of 3000 KMs in a year). And hence, I did not want to spend Rs. 2200 on the front brake pads which had worn out.

After checking the posts here, thought of trying the NIKAVI brake pads which cost just Rs. 499

They fit perfectly as they are of exact same size. I rode the bike for just 5 kms and felt the bite is just about average. But as the pads are brand new, I believe it would take some time to settle in and once the initial layer is worn, it would get better (maybe after say 200 kms).

It is good for my type of usage as I use it for city commutes and occasional short highway rides. Will update after around 500 KMs usage.

                • Quick update on the Nikavi front brakes for CBR250R C-ABS

After 500 kms of usage, the bite has improved but can't be compared to OEM brakes. The brake lever feels little spongy and needs to be pressed hard to feel good bite. (My brake fluid levels are ok)

Conclusion : these pads are fine if you ride it in city or for short regular errands (fine for me)
Won't recommend for riders who have good usage on the highways as I won't be very comfortable with these coming from 100+ KMPH speeds to standstill within short distance.

shv18, Do share your experience whenever your current pads wear out and you put in the Nikavi ones.

Have always used OEM in all 3 previous replacements. I've heard the brass ones will last longer and the chain noise would be lesser. No idea of any other benefit.

                    • Hi all, since a week I have been noticing a small puddle (maybe 10 drops) just behind the side stand. From touch and feel, it is the coolant (I'm using motocool which is not as green as the stock Honda coolant. So identifying requires touch and feel as my engine oil also looks similar yellowish when on the floor).

It only leaks after the bike is parked for few hours after a ride. Basically when I park the bike after riding, there is no puddle for the next 1 hour. But when I come to the bike the next morning, there is this puddle. See pic below. Should I worry ?

There is no heating issue, radiator fan works fine as usual whenever I'm in traffic or if I ride 7k + RPM for quite long. And the coolant temp bar never crossed 3 bars.

I tried my best to look for the source of the leak but I am clueless as none of the area above the puddle is wet.

Coolant replacement last done on 20th October 2021. Didn't have this issue for almost 3 months but only since a week.

                      Any help appreciated.

Two possible causes. The side stand is the area where all the drain tube outlets are congregated. It should be pretty easy to identify. If the leaking residue has properties of water and smells sweet that's perhaps 100% coolant. Coolant overflow tank will spew out excess coolant if the coolant reservoir tank is filled to the brim, overflow can happen. The three pipes out below, all three aren't any oil overflow passage. Check your coolant level in the overflow tank, when the bike is cold, if it is above maximum, drain excess coolant, this should help. Also make sure there aren't any leaks from the thermostat housing. Good luck.

                        Cheers!

Once upon a time, a guy asked a girl 'Will you marry me?'
                        The girl said, 'NO!'

And the guy lived happily ever after and rode motorcycles and watched sport on a big screen TV, went fishing and surfing, and played golf a lot, and drank beer and scotch and had tons of money in the bank and left the toilet seat up and farted whenever he wanted.

Yes it is coolant only. Not oil.
I will check for the coolant level in the reservoir tank tomorrow morning. But if it was overfilled, wouldn't it leak immediately or within a few days of filling ? It was filled on 20th October 2021. So for almost 3 months there wasn't any puddle. Anyway, il check for the level tomorrow and update.

Il have to check the service manual on how to locate the thermostat housing area as I am clueless about it. But I hope it is nothing more than excess coolant being thrown out.

PS - so, from those 3 drain tubes near side stand, one of them for excess coolant drain ?
What are the other 2 for ?

The reservoir coolant level just isn't visible sadly. Even with Mobile flash on it. The color of the reservoir tank and the coolant is same yellowish. Maybe that's why.

                            • Motul Motocool is yellow ish in color. So, it's hard to distinguish even with a flashlight, but with a little getting low and dirty, you can check the level in the coolant reservoir.

                              • Hello everyone. Since last service I've been hearing a whirring noise, like a drill, which I think is the ABS, probably recalibrating? The sound comes on for a couple of seconds and then stops. I haven't been able to pin down what exactly triggers this, but it happens at slow speed braking, and also when hitting bumps on the road. As far as I've been able to tell, it's coming from the rear. My ABS light, however, is not signalling any error, and the braking feels as it has already been. When I spoke to the mechanic at the service centre he told me he's been seeing it in other bikes as well, and that it's probably bearings rusting in the ABS system. I'm confused why it turned up suddenly and that too after a service. Has anyone here faced something similar? What can be done about it?
