Which FZ's should I buy? And any one know of a good quality double bubble windshield? Stock one isn't doing it for me unless I tuck completely.

When it comes to heart over mind, here in your case, quiddity, I would suggest you stick to the Gixxer SF 250, eyes closed. Being almost similar to what the CBR 250R has to offer on paper, the oil cooled mill of Suzuki has a great spread of torque and decent riding characteristics. Spares availability are a concern when it comes to the CBR 250R and not to mention the hiked prices for CBR 250R parts. If my memory serves me right, the sprocket kit was close to 2.5k, now costs close to 3.6k, again quote from memory.Originally posted by siva23Dear xbhpians.......I have an offer of 1.4 lakh 2019 cbr250 & Gixxer SF 250 lesser than 8k odo.....plz help me decide which one to go for.i will be keeping this for 10-15 years. Will there be any issues for spares with cbr in future ? My heart says cbr but practicality says Gixxer as it's new model and spares will be easily available for 10yrs or more......also it's lower power across rpm helps city commuting a lot. Also gixxer sf has 3.5 years of extended warranty,Will Gixxer sf give me the same glide of cbr on highways without vibration n stress free engine nature ? Will the maintenance cost of honda would be of higher side than sf250.I really want to taste the Japanese frugal engine with brutal aggressive on top end for next 10yrs 😂
So plz if you advise on cbr s future spares and maintenance and long term reliability and less prone issues btw these 2 awesome bikes......thank you
When you add in the age of the CBR, it's a motorcycle that's already been close to 10 years old, coupled with shady parts availability, and with your plan intending to stick to the given motorcycle upwards of 10+ years, the Gixxer makes more practical, sensible and future proof choice.
Good luck.
Cheers!

Hello,
in continuation to my previous post... while looking around for alternatives and trying to organise a CBR250R in Mumbai for HDT customs, I managed to find an alternative for Saddle Stay + Top box rack mount from a company called Hyper Rider (Web Link: https://hyperrider.co.in/). I also had a chat with few members from XBHP Hyderabad and XBHP Chennai group and found good reviews about the set up from those who have used it for their respective motorcycles. After I was convinced that this would be a relatively easier route to opt for, I decided to go ahead with the purchase and placed an order for the same via 6K Isle of Man online store (Shop based in Bengaluru, Product Web Link: https://6kiom.com/product/hyperrider...k-saddle-stay/).
Pic 1 - 5: Hyper Rider Saddle stay with Top Box Rack mount purely for touring purpose.
The combined weight of Saddle stay and top rack mount is around 4 kgs. As per the site, the seller claims that the overall system can take luggage loads of upto 88 Kgs and is sturdy for the kind of application one has in mind. The Saddle stay has also been designed to snap lock the RE Himalayan Panniers without any modifications. Although, i would personally avoid putting so much load on the rear section as being a diamond type design such loading would lead to an unbalanced motorcycle plus built up of unwanted stress which can potentially crack the motorcycle chassis.
Hence, well designed saddle bags and perhaps a 29 ltrs detachable top box from SHAD (as shown in the reference pic above) will complement this set up and provide quick access to items kept inside instead of fiddling around with straps kept deep inside a saddle bag. It will also act as a good back rest for a pillion rider and hopefully should be more than enough for all those who are serious about exploring the country on two wheels (of course whenever the situation improves). Whenever the product arrives and I can do the necessary tests shall share my personal observations and review on the Story So far... thread (Link: https://www.xbhp.com/talkies/general...honda-cbr-250r).
Sharing the product details here for information purpose only
Cheers,

Hey shv18 18 it's been while since your last post on Ninja650, In first lockdown i read complete yours detailed CBR250R thread. It took few days but given complete idea about beautiful bird (I like how it glides on highway). Today I switched the engine oil to Rimula CI4+ as per your recommendation. Anyway it's nice to have man like you on forum. Best of luck for next Trip.

Dear all,
it has been a while since, I have posted on xbhp. Well the thing is... even though i was planning to sell off my "Little Bird" Honda CBR250R, i simply couldn't as she is just too reliable and too resilient to let go off... A Honda is Honda after all
And yes my "Green Elephant" Kawasaki Ninja 650 is also present... and yes the trip log on my Solo 'Tour De South' is long overdue.. I hope whenever it is possible i shall finish off the write up and will post it as soon as i can..
Anyways, I am posting this specifically asking for help from any of Honda CBR250R owners/riders who are based in Mumbai, Maharashtra. I am planning to get hold of a properly fabricated Saddle Stay + Rear Top box mount for all my crazy off-roading adventures exploring our beautiful country (whenever this pandemic lets go and allows us to do so in the near future).
I have got in touch with Mr. Hemant, owner of HDT Customs, Mumbai who is well known for fabrication of custom saddle stays and other products for various motorcycles.
The video shared above will show how he has fabricated one for a customer of his. As I am no longer based in Mumbai, Mr. Hemant needs a physical motorcycle to be present in front of him to take the necessary measurements and then do the needful. If any of Mumbai based riders are willing spare a day for this and let Mr. Hemant do his stuff on their CBR250R, i shall remain eternally grateful.
B7ACKTHORN if you can help in spreading the word it would be amazing.
Thanks again and please stay safe guys...

Thanks for the detailed reply, this will really help and surely I will get this done within a week or so. The only concern now is where to get the work done as the honda service centers around me are notorious for both, overcharging and negligence.Originally posted by B7ACKTHORN View Post
First and foremost, make sure the oil leak is arrested, that'ts extremely important. Secondly, get the bike thoroughly diagnosed starting with a clean the fuel tank, cleaning the injector and throttle body (very much important), REPLACE the fork oil, T steam bearing (replace it for peace of mind) since the bike has been parked for so long, chances are it might be accummulating rust. Make sure your spark plug is either cleaned or replaced. Mandatory shim clearance to be inspected irrespective of the what the previous owners said. Check the condition of the timing chain tensioner.
Lastly and rudimentally, chain sprocket life, brake pad condition, headlamp, flashers, horn, all electrical circuitry check coupled with tire condition.
Good luck.
Cheers!

Took the bike to a service center to get it checked, the tech rode it and said the engine is in good condition, and apart from the broken panels needing to be changed, it should not be a bad purchase mechanically. The bike is slightly louder than it should be and the service guy said it needs a good service and might also be a shim issue.
I have noticed that the exhaust also has a slight fuel/othestr smell but no smoke issue.
What things should I get done with the service?

CBR250R's indeed is a 12 mm bolt with a steel washer that goes along with the bolt. If you have leak, changes are it can be due to prior owner torquing the bolt too much, stripping the threads, and the rethread has been done to 14 mm. Use a bigger washer that fits the circumference of the 14 mm bolt and see if it arrests the leak. Also, do look for any cracks or M-Sealing around the drain bolt casing periphery. Usually a stripped thread is pre-cursor to a cracked crank case periphery. Observe closely and see if the above trick arrests the leak. You can also use Teflon tape around the threads for extra safety if it still leaks.
Good luck. Hope it helps.
Cheers!

Sure I will confirm in few days as my oil service due (month wise), i will try and hope Shell Rimula CI4 and liqui moly injector cleaner will give me good results as bike has completed 9 years. Ordered Rolon chain & Sprocket kit too with that going to change inside rubber pads too.Originally posted by B7ACKTHORN View Post
Can you please post a picture of your 14 mm drain bolt. My drain bolt and all the CBRs I have seen do come with 12 mm drain bolt. I am surprised to see yours come with 14 mm drain bolt, can you please share the image of the drain bolt along with a 14 mm wrench on it, please.

For leak just need new washer and right torque to bolt. I have used same old washer for one service after few km started to shown sign of leak but was few drops when I park the vehicle overnight, every time I see oil level low i top up it. That's when I learn why I is called crushed washer and why it is required to change it at every oil change.
