Hi all, since a week I have been noticing a small puddle (maybe 10 drops) just behind the side stand. From touch and feel, it is the coolant (I'm using motocool which is not as green as the stock Honda coolant. So identifying requires touch and feel as my engine oil also looks similar yellowish when on the floor).

It only leaks after the bike is parked for few hours after a ride. Basically when I park the bike after riding, there is no puddle for the next 1 hour. But when I come to the bike the next morning, there is this puddle. See pic below. Should I worry ?

There is no heating issue, radiator fan works fine as usual whenever I'm in traffic or if I ride 7k + RPM for quite long. And the coolant temp bar never crossed 3 bars.

I tried my best to look for the source of the leak but I am clueless as none of the area above the puddle is wet.

Coolant replacement last done on 20th October 2021. Didn't have this issue for almost 3 months but only since a week.

    Any help appreciated.

Have always used OEM in all 3 previous replacements. I've heard the brass ones will last longer and the chain noise would be lesser. No idea of any other benefit.

Quick update on the Nikavi front brakes for CBR250R C-ABS

After 500 kms of usage, the bite has improved but can't be compared to OEM brakes. The brake lever feels little spongy and needs to be pressed hard to feel good bite. (My brake fluid levels are ok)

Conclusion : these pads are fine if you ride it in city or for short regular errands (fine for me)
Won't recommend for riders who have good usage on the highways as I won't be very comfortable with these coming from 100+ KMPH speeds to standstill within short distance.

shv18, Do share your experience whenever your current pads wear out and you put in the Nikavi ones.

Update on cheap alternative for CBR250R C-ABS front brake pads.

Thanks to shv18 for his posts 2 pages back where he provided us with some information about NIKAVI brake pads.

I have always run OEM brake pads for my bike. But off lately, my usage is extremely low (maximum of 3000 KMs in a year). And hence, I did not want to spend Rs. 2200 on the front brake pads which had worn out.

After checking the posts here, thought of trying the NIKAVI brake pads which cost just Rs. 499

They fit perfectly as they are of exact same size. I rode the bike for just 5 kms and felt the bite is just about average. But as the pads are brand new, I believe it would take some time to settle in and once the initial layer is worn, it would get better (maybe after say 200 kms).

It is good for my type of usage as I use it for city commutes and occasional short highway rides. Will update after around 500 KMs usage.

Also, I do believe as long as the engine oil level is comfortably between the upper and lower level markings at the inspection window and there aren't leakages, there is nothing to worry. Just the OCD to have everything in the bike in perfect order used to make me want to top up the oil level to nearby the upper level mark even though it wasn't that necessary.

That being said, i did carry 1 liter of oil with me but never topped up during entire trip.

I was riding between 96-120 kmph all the time, with occasional bursts to check the top speed on empty stretches.

Couple of times, I rode for 350kms non stop. Only stopped for fuel break for 10 mins.

    Thanks.
This seems to be common with CBR250R.
Even before my bike's weep hole oil leak issue, the engine oil levels would drop and I would top up every 1000 kms (Another good reason why I always store the remaining half litre of engine oil can after using 1.5 litres). But the top ups would always be approximately 100ml at the maximum. Never got to know how the oil level drops even though there were no leaks and smoke earlier.

With my recent weep hole leak issue, I'm noticing a slight drop in the oil level at just 400 KMs since my last service.

(PS - Check the oil level from the inspection window after 5 mins of engine being off and keep the bike straight yourself or tell someone else hold it straight. Don't use paddock as it won't show a 100% accurate oil level because the rear end will be slightly lifted)

The oil consumption you had indicated is normal . I had indicated checking other parameters just to be sure there is no oil consumption due to other reasons.
    Good Luck.

Yes, this is a common occurence with CBR 250R at least. Happened with me irrespective of the engine oil I used (Honda OEM or Shell Ultra Advanced). Like aargee has mentioned before, you need to keep topping up every 800-1000 kms. In my case, I usually top up with around 50-60 mL every 1000 kms and couple this with the chain lubing task. If you follow this method, you should be able to get 6000 km mileage from your engine oil, as mentioned in the manual.

I tried purposely to shift to 6th gear at 55-60 speeds yesterday on an empty stretch of road. I had to keep good control over the clutch and give mild acceleration to ensure the revs built up. (Also, my sprockets are fine, chain is cleaned and lubed every 1.5k kms)

Conclusion - it is a hassle to keep good control over clutch to ensure less lugging. So I'd rather switch to 6th gear only after 75/80 kmph as that is the only speed where it feels natural. Anything below that feels weird.

But surely I would try the earth wire mod from Shiv's post. Spent good few days going through the entire discussion from start to end. Amazing information there.

Hey siddhant and Ratan Prabhu ever since I brought mine in 2018 which was 2012 model, I was able to engage 6th gear in 57-58kmph speed but to keep the bike away from the from lugging I need to maintain the speed above 60kmph.
But when I replaced the Chain kit(Rolon) And adjusted the chain slag to factory spec now I am able to engage 6th in around 52-53kmph speed and to avoid lugging I just need to maintain the speed above 55-56kmph which is really helpful in city riding.
And All the CBR250R from 2011 onwards are has MC41 machines means no change in the engine.

Yes, I have the 2018 version. As far as I know, there were no changes to the engine. The main changes were LED headlights, ABS instead of C-ABS and paint scheme.

The "earth wire mod" described in shv18 's thread https://www.xbhp.com/talkies/general...honda-cbr-250r helps improving the low end torque of the bike. Lot of people got it done and could feel the difference. Maybe you could give that a try if not done already.
