It is not 12% but 13.32 % for state of Karnataka, depending on the Invoice amount (Asset Value, NCCD, Excise duty etc.) the computation will differ, since people residing in Karnataka have bought it from Pune while few have bought from Chennai with the variation in ex-showroom the Road tax will differ, for e.g. Rs. 4,75,000 would result in LTT amount of Rs. 63,270 + Registration charges + other charges.

It has been more then a month now since I had my DD ready dated 23-07-11, for the LTT filing, had to visit multiple RTO offices finally landing in Yelahanka RTO office, after subtle patience and brick-bracketing the RTO personnel clicked 4 sets of pics (Rear, Front, Left Side, Right side), and now it has come in papers and gone for Transport Commissioner approval. This would be a sigh of relief for any other person wanting to register in Karnataka State for GT650R, as it is a one-time process for any new kind of a bike, similar process for ST7 will be there, which I believe is already been spearheaded (not sure). The whole process was governed by an appointed RTO Agent for Bangalore

The actual Registration process will now happen for my GT650R, probably in the coming week, for other owners in Bangalore and wanting to register in Karnataka will be excluded from the aforementioned tedious activity.

Do i need to pay custom tax for buying the bike from Chennai and getting registered in Karnataka... those RTO ppl are not aware and asking for that.,, can someone confirm me

Many thanks man... I am the next one in pipeline... had been in touch with the broker provided to me by garware motors. lets see how it goes for me... whts the total amount I can expect for registeration... something arnd 70000+

Thanks guys... it has been precisely 66 hours, it has been raining here... don't think it ever happened in this monsoon so far.. or I have started counting hours just now...
Nopes, I have not taken the bike out so far.. Don't have the rain gear, and tyres are not run-in so the grip is already compromised for first few kms.. but i am loosing patience now..and will wait for another 2-3 hours, before It goes out...it rains or not..

Customs or custom tax are levied on imported goods, your GT650R is purchased from India with Indian Invoice, and you have full right to get it registered in any state, further depending on state rule that may imply some Excise duty if bought from other state (not applicable in State of Karnataka), so question of Custom Tax rules out. If RTO people are obligating, pertaining to shrewd ways of extracting a dough, you have right to speak and let them know the real facet.

Guys what are the sweet spots (RPM) as per your experience for upshift and downshift to avoid knocking ?

You're shifting at 4k rpm till 800kms right?

upshift was somewhere close to that only.. may be at 3500-3700 ..downshift was around 2500..for this short ride..

is 4K noted somewhere in manual or service guys mentioned that for run in period ?

Since it had taken quite nearly forever for my GT to arrive, i've had ample time to look at the manual As per that, use less than 1/2 throttle for the first 800kms (arnd 4000 rpm) and less than 3/4 throttle till 1600kms (arnd 6000rpm).

But that would not mean to shift the gear at 4K RPM ? That should be keep the engine revved to that limit ? did I misunderstood something ? BTW, for a small stretch, I pushed it to 6K...

12 KM journey to home begins in the peak traffic hours. could shift to 4th gear only 2-3 time, else 3rd gear. As other guys had reported earlier.. started feeling that thighs are getting fried after sometime only.. Hope this heat will reduce with the time and as I get used to of the bike...
