Thats Joke of the day... I think your neighbour loads Rs.100/- fuel everytime and the bike would be giving a mileage close to 60km/Rs.100 .. check out reviews from people to know more about fuel efficiency, its typical Yamaha!

The above would've been right in the case of my ZMA, but since its the R15 we're talking about. Im not mistaken.

I have run in my R17 with motoman's method, i'm still running in, my first 42km's were run very hard, hit the rev limiter twice, though not my intention, changed the oil, full of metal particles, ran up to 165km's then next oil and filter change (this was yesterday) now i'm at 330 km's, next oil/filter change will be at 500km's.

Now with motoman's methods, the idea is to load pressure on the piston rings to get a perfect seal, now to achieve this on the road, you need to accelerate with full throttle (rpm's are not imortant, 7.5k rpm is about as high as you will need to go) you do this through the gears as much as you can, you also need to decelerate through the rev range, also hard (engine braking) the idea is to use mineral oil for this process, why? because you want friction, otherwise slippery synthetic oil will make the process go on for ever and you'll end up using oil.

Ultimately it's up to you as to what you believe, after all why would a manufacturer want your engine etc to last forever without problem?
Remember the sale of spare parts is bigger business (profit margin wise) than the sale of a new vehicle.

Im also a hard believer of hard break in and thats exactly what I did, and guess what. Im running on my 2nd set of bore and pistons. BTW my bikes just 3months old. Now having to do the run-in process all over again, and you can bet on it that this time, I'm getting it right.

      • I remember spotting the V2.0 in White-Red combo and I must say pics don't do justice. This machine is one hell of looker, full marks to Yamaha on design front.

Someone's spent a lot of hard earned money buying the original for you (hoping that's you ). I personally don't find ANY reason to upgrade from V1 to V2 other than your impulse ! Its just because of the fact that the V2 exists, that you've lost interest in your V1 Its all psychological ...

If you upgrade to the V2, then you'll get a better looking bike, a changed seating (more space to rest your thighs) and a slightly changed engine note. Performance-wise i can bet there will be zero noticeable difference for city riders.

If you are a performance freak, then better buy the CBR 250r on finance with that extra cash you were gonna spend on a V2
You may even get a pre owned 250r in good condition for the same price as the new V2 ...

Go through the original R15's thread ... there'll be ample information about oil + filter change intervals and other more useful info. Also, you should have a manual for your V1. Go through that. Everything written in there is exhaustive and correct.

I suggest you take a ride on a quiet night with your V1 for some time. You might just forget about the V2 during that time ...

Hello I agree with your point !! I had payed 50 % of the money and my Dad had payed rest 50 % of money to buy this Baby for me !! By doing part time jobs besides my studies i had earned and my contribution was only 50 %
                      Leave it ..

Nah .. i don't want CBR 250 R !! Reason - If it gives only 25 km/liter mileage means no use !! My expectations is that Red bull monster should delivery me Minimum 30 km/liter or More .....

My Riding inside the chennai city traffic is : I used to do Minimum 60 km/hr - 100 km/hr Only !! I used to touch 5k - 7k Rpm only in tachometer ! I don't Do rash drivings as well as give sudden throttle !! This is my driving style on my Baby !! But My Question is If i maintain 6k RPM on CBR 250 R is there any Assurance that it delivers me a minimum mileage of 30 km/liter ? If it 100 % Delivers means i May think whether i go for that Red Bull Monster

I'm very much happy that your Point of view made me clear !! Now I'm steady Ha ha .. Thank you very much for Guiding me !! Love My V1 Baby xD

Ahem .. i saw some one wrote Chaning engine oil for first 50 km and then on 150 km etc etc ... < I can't understand this !! That's why i asked you for each & every __ km should we change [ I'm not asking the service book Recommendation ] Engine oil Name / Type / Price !! I hope you understood what i try to convey to you !!

Hey arrive alone, why don't you go through the CBR thread and see it for your self that 30-35KMPl is not a miracle for the CBR to deliver. If you ride the way you mention, i.e., below 6k rpm and avoid sudden accelerations, you will easily get 35-40KMPL.
FYI, there are a few owners who report getting 40+KMPL also, same guys who do 150+ KMPH top speed.
I got 40+ during run in period, now getting 32-35KMPL steadily and I rip my bike on quite a few instances.
But end of the day, if you are looking for a mileage bike and mileage bike alone, don't buy the CBR, its far more than that!!

                        • Got my Baby R

                          Hello guys

I got my Blue Baby R today in the evening. Even though the showroom guys told me that the delivery would happen only after 60 days, I got it today reason I paid the cash in full. I booked on the 5th of this month.

Once I received the bike I went and performed pooja at Sampath Vinayagar temple. I took her for a ride and man she was awesome. So many people were asking what is the price etc.

I was telling myself to control the speed and not to rev her beyond 4k rpm. Once the run in is completed I will go a bit higher up the rev range.

Anyways I will keep you guys posted and sure will upload the pics.

                          Until then happy riding guys

                          • @ArriveAlone: One word of advice-V1 to V2 is an upgrade in terms of looks alone. The performance difference is hardly noticeable&I don't think you will even realize you are riding a different bike when seated on it-you can't see the rear!
If you wanna show off with the split seat etc., get it-I consider it a waste of money. If you upgrade to a bigger bike, yes, I encourage you.
                            Quench my thirst with gasoline!

I'm glad what i wrote made sense to you.

I mentioned the CBR assuming you want a better bike in terms of performance. Since you're more inclined towards mileage, then CBR will give you 28-33 kpl in city and 35-39 on highways.

It would be best if you stop worrying about RPMs and just feel and listen to your bike while driving. A lot of people keep looking at the tacho and forget their eyes should be on the road (me - 1 year ago).
Though its nice to read you don't manhandle her much

About the oil change. There are no genius approaches for a proper run-in since you don't track race. I'd suggest you keep things simple for yourself. I have used Yamalube SS from the start with no complaints.

There are 2 factors at play for oil change. Your daily run and the grade of current oil. Assuming she's doing 25 km daily on mineral, change oil every 1000 km. If she's on SS, then every 2500 km. Change oil filter on every alternate oil change. If your daily run is more, then adjust with a good guess. I changed oil @ 300, 900, 2300,4000,6000. My daily run was 56 kms on SS.

There's a cap on the right side of your engine to pur in engine oil. Unscrew it out. The oil dripping from it, put in on some tissue paper. If you see black dark oil, its definitely time to change it. If the color is still slightly greenish and has only some black particles in there, you can wait.

                              Drive safe!
