Transporting your Bike.
hi Friends ,
i had enquired in this thread about Transporting my bike from Chennai to Thrissur,Kerala
and had indeed got replies to my query, but later could not reply few months back;
anyways wanted to share my experience with all here.
i finally deicieded to take my bike home thru Train ;
and it was not really a problem, the staff at the RAilways did the packing with waste plastic material and packing and sacks; the same night it was transported and next day morning i could receive it at Thrissur station. their packing was good enough and had no problems with the bike just had to remove the side-view mirrors and completely empty the tank. totally including all charges of ticket fee for the bike, packing, loading unloading came around to 1.2k only.there werent any damages or scratches or gettin it delievered
so just wanted to share my experience with other R15owners buddies here .

As i am always against the transport from railway service because they dnt keep it safe, makes many damages to the parcel.
The transport price is quite impressive low.
I am gonna buy R15 next month,
i am working in Nagpur. but my home town is Bhopal
currently using Hunk Registered bhopal in Nagpur
so shall i buy the bike from Nagpur or bhopal
According to my experience if their is any issue with parts and warrenty, the other dealers ask to get it replace in warrenty from the dealer i have purchased.
If in future any part needs warrenty replacement will their be any problem in Yamaha service with warrenty
If we get the warrenty then should be allowed to claim it any where with the authorised service centres.Last edited by [email protected]; 10-12-2012, 11:08 PM.

Got 2 more questions.
Sorry to ask this regular questions.
1.how to maintain a run in period
-whether I need to change the oil and filter at 150kms.
-what rev shall i maintain.
-whether break in can be done. i have already reverbed much
2.Gear changing a basic newbie question

-at what rpm shall i shift a gear (I am hearing a small tick sound during shift from 1to2 2to3 but not from 3to4 and above and the same in gearing down)
-I am shifting to 6th gear at 70kmph itself
I need more help on these.until now I havent maintained my bikes in good condition but now I want to .Help me on this

1. Read the Owners Manual. Keep her under 5k rpm for first 500kms and under 7.5krpm between 500-1k kms.Originally posted by VishnuManohar View PostGot 2 more questions.

- No need.
- said in the first line ^^
- No, keep her calm till first service.
2.
- Thats your choice. If you want goo mileage change at 4k rpm or 5krpm. For performance, change at 8+k rpm.
- No probem. Keep her under the prescribed rpms till run-in.Ride, ride and ride.. But always do it responsibly..

change oil and oil filter at 250 km then 1000 km and then again at 2000-2500 km.
always maintain rpm under 5000k,with occasional outbursts to higher-rev range, but don't redline yet.
the sweet-spot of gear changing is 3.5 k-4.5 k for mileage.
for performance shift at rpm higher than the rpm at which r15's torque peaks.
lastly if you have already messed up run-in,don't panic, modern day engines are reliable enough.and the question remains why do i race?
every finishing line is the begining of a new race.

Urgent..
Hello everyone..
Lot has changed here..
My R15 skits a lot and I took it to showroom several times and they say everything fine.
I have been in two accidents due to the bike slipping and loosing control one of them serious and was on bed for 2 months.
Can any experts tell about the problem they think and what should I do to correct it.
Thank You

, but still I will try to throw some light on it after reading your description.
The basics of braking is to use the front brakes more and less rear ones. If your bike is loosing its tail and is fishtailing, then you are braking it incorrectly. Its all in the game of Inertia. When you brake, the mass is transferred to the front of the bike. In this case when you hit the rear ones, the rear wheel may lock up because of the weight transfer which makes the rear of your bike lighter. This is the primary cause of skidding or lock ups. Try to maintain a 70% : 30% ratio of front:rear. This should help. Go to a deserted road and try and and improve your braking skills. Not much of a brainer thing once you get to know it better.
Also, make you you judge the distance and speed of your bike. Go off throttle from a considerable distance so that you don't always panic brake and lock wheels.
If your front brake always locks up and skids from the front, then I guess you may be over doing it. If nothing works out, go to the Service Center and tell this to the guys out there. They can make adjustments according to your requirements.
