Thanks a lot to all of you guys for helping me out..
After reading all your comments I do have my friend ride my bike. He is having a version 1. And according to you and him and what I understood is I overdo the brakes many times
since was used to of Apache's worn out brakes that I had to brake much harder to stop.
I practiced and I found I'm pressing front brakes more than required and that is the reason of wheels locking up and bike slipping.
I guess my problem is solved.

I doubt here for your bikes's brake setting than your braking style!!Originally posted by masterman View PostThanks a lot to all of you guys for helping me out..

R15 brakes are excellent and very responsive to lever and tyres are absolutely perfect. What tinker me here is, how come you are applying more brake ??? and additionally the result is skidding of tyres ??
I guess there i some problem with braking. Why will one brake harder if his purpose is well served in mild braking only!!
I am using R15 for more than 2.5 yrs and i have very rarely encountered skidding of rear tyres with that skinny tyres which is sufficient!!

he is talking about panic braking bro. those accidents were result of panic braking as we suspected earlier.Originally posted by somen1984 View PostI doubt here for your bikes's brake setting than your braking style!!

Glad you came to know this. hope you will be extra careful next time. knowing proper braking is as important as accelerating. one more important thing is 'always be attentive on the road whenever it may be'.Originally posted by masterman View PostThanks a lot to all of you guys for helping me out..

1) Putting the weight behind means shedding weight in front, shedding weight in front means good lock up, good lock up means tasting tarmac. But in that case if front locks up then you would have no control because front will be severely overloaded and also there will be a good chance of a stopie. While sitting back would eliminate both of these problems and there would be better chance of recovering from front lock up.
2) Our bikes have heavy front,I think weight dist. is 50-50 on r15 and most SBKs. Correct me if there is some error here....
3) Practice pumping of brakes, this is the best methods for bikes not having ABS. The hand and fingers work like a motor ensuring the pressure to be applied seconds after seconds just like the ABS motor installed.Would it not cause the front to load and unload alternately and cause instability which might result in accident. What I know is first apply rear brake a bit then smoothly apply front to the maximum braking possible with it (this is very important for forks to work in correctly and if front might lock if forks bottom out) and as you lose speed release the brake a bit....
10% knowledge -You should know how to brake on various surfaces, you cant go hard on wet or muddy surface.
...Completely agree here, you have be very care over lose surfaces. These are some of the points I can think of having 8yrs of experience in biking, every bike behaves differently, you need to accept this fact. This is one of the main reasons for me not hitting Lavasa (A very good place for corners in Pune), I'm still about to understand its working and I'm taking time in doing that.
Can't ride R15 like a pulser and vice versa...

Storage for a period of 1 or 2 months
hi all,
as i am leaving to chennai for exams i will be keeping my bike at home and no one else will be using it parents going abroad;
so what are the steps i should take to keep it in good condition if kept idle for 1 or 2 months ??
(storing inside my house as no1 will be around here )
i have heard that i should fill the tank full some say its better to leave it empty, am confused - and what else should i take care of to leave it idle for 2 months. . ..
P.S. : it was very informative to read all the posts above regarding braking -as its my first bike now just run 7k in the Odo
and regarding the front discs they are very accurate in critical conditions in traffic too ; and very good control to slow down also .

Go through it, it includes detailed steps on what to do when you are gone and your ride is alone.
Disconnecting the battery, filling up the tank etc are few of the basics.Ride On,

The most important is battery, plz get it out from bike when u leave it for long time, check the air presure, fuel up the tank and add atleast 100g 4T oil so that the tank should not catch rust. and finaly cover the bike properly. i usualy go out for 1 month after every 6 months and does the same. nothing else is required i hope.Last edited by [email protected]; 10-17-2012, 06:21 PM.
