Re: Yamaha R15 v 2.0.
Yes, I agree with you. The red, black and white combo is the best color on this bike.Originally posted by Andy_kristine View PostThe new 2014 red, black and white combo Is the best color combo on this bike ever. And this is just my opinion. You should go for the variant which you think is the best for you.

Re: Yamaha YZF-R15 version 2.0
I lubed my chain yesterday morning.. Today, I found that the bite of back brake is almost 0.
My bike has run 10k. I still have good amount of brake pads left..
How can I get it rectified?

You sprayed the lube in discs.... Nothing to worry, just clean the discs with a cloth and brake hard until you get the bite back.Originally posted by dhruvausster View PostI lubed my chain yesterday morning.. Today, I found that the bite of back brake is almost 0.

Re: Yamaha YZF-R15 version 2.0
finally filled up motul 300v 15w50 :-)
how long before that celebrated significant smoothness in the revs that 300v causes is noticeable ?
right after filling it up, better smoothness and feel of the mid and high RPMs in low gears was felt and i suppose it will get even better once the effect of the tiny amounts of remnant yamalube in the engine parts gets mixed and washed out by the motul completely (or does that happen right at the moment motul is filled?).. was just in the city area so didnt get to check out high RPMs in higher gears..
also, at what intervals of distance do you guys who use the 300v change and refill the oil ? 4000 kms? i rip and ride hard almost all the time with RPMs mostly in the high and often with hard throttling..4000 kms be fine for such riding practices ?

About 100kms in and the oil will really work its magic.
And being a FS it ideally lasts longer, but since you have a lot of high revving action. I'd say 4.5-5k will be a ideal drain interval.
Cheers

I have motul 300v currently. Have done 2.5k approx and planning to replace it at 3kOriginally posted by aditya_YZF-R15 View Postfinally filled up motul 300v 15w50 :-)

I too rip too hard like redlining quite often and feel 4k is too much personally so get it done around 3k

Re: Yamaha YZF-R15 version 2.0
dude motul FS refilling at 3000kms will be premature despite the ripping riding habit...use it till at least 4000kms...it supposedly is good all the way till 5500-6000kms based on what most people in this forum have written..add the effects of frequent high revving riding, it should i believe still be fine till at least 4000-4500 kms..Originally posted by Yashas Rl View PostI have motul 300v currently. I know bro but I feel the oil is old by the time it does 4k on odo. Averagely I do ~500kms a month.Originally posted by aditya_YZF-R15 View Postdude motul FS refilling at 3000kms will be premature despite the ripping riding habit...use it till at least 4000kms...it supposedly is good all the way till 5500-6000kms based on what most people in this forum have written..add the effects of frequent high revving riding, it should i believe still be fine till at least 4000-4500 kms..

Re: Yamaha YZF-R15 version 2.0
damn, does the age of the oil in time really matter all that much ? :-( i also do 600 kms or so per month on an average..i thought the age of the FS oil inside the engine doesnt really matter unless it's like years old or something..Originally posted by Yashas Rl View PostI know bro but I feel the oil is old by the time it does 4k on odo. would request some of the more knowledgeable guys here to clear this doubt.

Re: Yamaha YZF-R15 version 2.0
For mineral oils, it is said that they should be changed after ~6 months if you don't ride much. That's mainly because mineral oils start to oxidize on its own in the engine. But with synthetic oils, that's not the case. These tend to stay non reactive for long and hence the longer life.Originally posted by aditya_YZF-R15 View Postdamn, does the age of the oil in time really matter all that much ? :-( i also do 600 kms or so per month on an average..i thought the age of the FS oil inside the engine doesnt really matter unless it's like years old or something..

So in my opinion, you should not be worried about time. Change the oil at 4k kms and rev hard
I had used 300v in my FZ-16 ones and changed after 3.5k kms, the oil was still green in color at that time
and could have been used for way more.
Ride safe and have fun.

also, for the first time today i tried to open the front sprocket cover to clean and lube it (all this time whenever i cleaned and lubed my chain, i just did it on the visible parts of the chain and rear sprocket and hoped that the cleaner and lube will get spread decent enough on the front sprocket due to the rotating rear wheel) and damn the screw screwing it in place is so so tight that it's impossible to open it with one of those spanners given to us in the toolkit because it can't even be held properly with full grip of the hand due to the way the screw-going hole of the sprocket cover is designed and placed...really wanted to clean and lube the front sprocket, the last time during service i saw how dirty it gets when they opened the cover to clean and lube it.

I had done this once. I borrowed a 8 size T spanner from one of my close mechanic.Originally posted by aditya_YZF-R15 View Postyeah, thought so myself too..

Although it was a painful task I was very much happy after I was done with it as the amount of 'thick black hardened dusty oil' kind of residue I had to clean off was nearly had full. I consumed nearly 3/4th of a litre of diesel.
Once it was done I had to do circus to put the front sprocket back.
I have lost the pics and if I find them I will post the same.
