    2. R15 is a rev happy bike which comes alive only after 7k RPM. So once the break-in is done enjoy the throttle. Before 7k RPM also R15 is better than any other city bikes but doesn’t live up to its name.
    3. R15 V2 has got a remapped ECU which helps it in producing low-end torque and hence better rideability in city traffic than V1.
    4. This bike can easily cruise at 125 kmph, so people who’re looking for a good bike with good speed can seriously think of this bike.
    5. Always do the service, especially the oil change, at specified intervals to keep the bike in the best condition.
    6. Follow the break-in procedure as mentioned in the manual like bible and the effect you’ll get after 2 years.

Nice points which should be kept in mind by not only new owners, but everyone

and 148km/h.. i have never gone above 115km/h haha.. Apni bike hoti to try krte.

    Ride safe and have fun.

Ha ha...surely...come down to Pune and try it out on my bike... BTW, 148 kmph came after full crouching with little support from wind direction and an almost three kms of arrow straight and totally empty stretch.

Bangalore-Pune highway is an extended Run way. Now wonder you hit 148 on it. What was the RPM at which you achieved those speeds. 125 is pretty quick for a 150cc, but anything above that is quite slow.

only about 270 kms or so since i filled it up with the motul 300v 15w50 last week...already significant difference in smoothness of the revs can be felt...high RPMs are and feel much smoother..even the sound at very high RPMs seem to have gone better...the mid and high revs at low gears (1st and 2nd) have probably shown the most improved smoothness..

          ----consecutive posts auto-merged-----

my top speed so far has been 142kmph, done several months ago (i dont go for top speeding except once in a few months at the nearby expressway which btw is so boring being devoid of corners (200+ kmph sweepers are the only corners one can corner a bike through and of course that needs a big superbike) and just an empty stretch at which anything below 120 kmph kinda feels slow)..at the point the RPM was if i remember right somewhere between 9800-10000...apart from that i touched 140 kmph twice.

have done 120/125+ millions of times and reaches there very easily pretty much always except if the head winds are unusually strong or something very unusual like that...have also done 130+ many times and while it reaches 130 on the speedo pretty quickly (for a 150cc), speeding beyond that is slow and depends much more on the external conditions...all this i am talking about without tucking in and crouching...if that's done things obviously become a bit more quick.

my weight is also only about 54-57 kgs or so..so i suppose that helps my bike more :P

Completely agree with you. It will be an understatement if we call it a highway instead of runway. I don't remember the RPM as I have not seen it cause shifting my eyes from the road at 148 kmph seemed a bit reclkess to me so didn't. But the the engine was not redlined. It still had some more RPM left and as far as I can remember, the RPM was between 9.75 to 10k RPM.

So we got another fan of Motul 300V. Using FS oils does feel smoother. Some people think that due to FS there is a slippage of clutch but there's no proof of that till date so we can ignore that.

On the speed front, I completely agree with you. rider weight does matter a lot. And I being on the 60-64 kgs range, I am a pretty lucky one. For R15, 125 -130 kmph can be achieved pretty quickly. I would say even till 135 kmph, cause this sunday while coming back to Pune from Mumbai, I didn't expect it would touch 136 kmph but after that it's very slow really. You have to stretch it. You can reach 140 kmph crouching in a R15 but reaching 144+ kmph takes time even while crouching full on.

I'm gonna try Motul 15w50 Semi-Synthetic on Monday/Tuesday. I hope the SVC folks change the oil without complaining. Will also change Oil filter too.

But for service, ill ride down to bangalore , Bangalore Wheels seems to be the place to get your bikes serviced properly. Chain/Sprocket set will also be changed
Surely they will do so. If they don't then ask them to tell you what is the grade of Yamalube. Then you can show them that the oil you're trying to apply is same as the grade of Yamalube. Yes, please change the oil filter.

in case you meant motul 300v 15w50, that's fully synthetic...the 5100 15w50 is semi synthetic.

Been using motul 7100 20w50 since 13000 kms now. Changed from 300v to 7100. Yes , this one does the job pretty well, super smooth and I get a constant mileage of a little above 45kmpl under city riding.

My bike has clocked 10.5 kms and around past 2.5k kms on motul 300v
I read in the service manual 'things needed to done at certain intervals'.
At 10k kms it say fork oil needs replacement and coolant oil too
Is it necessary? Okay coolant to some some extent I can agree (although I don't see when replacement) but why fork oil?
This time I shall try out motul 7100 20w50 on hearing Ivin's experience!! But Ivin tell me, isn't this oil too viscous? And when a radiator can do its task pretty well why is it there a need for such a thick oil (my mech says so) which is used on bikes which lack engine cooling system?
Also need clarifications about FFAF's. Which is good among Simota, BMC and K&N?
I read somewhere in earlier posts that color is all that differs from each of it. But what about the built quality? Performance?
And I'm getting FFEs so will be changing my spark plug too. Do I change spark plug cables and spark plug coils along or what?

I would recommend, completely my personal opinion, not to try out too much. You can go for 5100 if you want SS. Or you can go for 300V or 7100 incase of FS. Just maintain the grade in between 15W50, 20W40 and 20W50. Or you can go for any oil which you feel your bike is responding well to. Personally my opinion about oils is:

FS oil can/should be used when the bike is used mostly for racing only or ridden hard, close to redlining, almost 80-90% of the time.
SS oil can/should be used when the bike is used for regular use like a combination of commuting in city traffic, going to office, ripping on highways etc.

Guys please correct me if I am wrong to say this.
