But the impact of the crash was never on the handlebars..(when I was taking a U turn, a car rammed into my front wheel from the left) so how will replacing the handle bar get it fixed?

Re: Yamaha YZF-R15 version 2.0
From my experience,You have have to check your handle bars for any offset every time you have an accident or even so much as a fall.Since you had already mentioned this as a side collision on the fork, damage or distortion to the handle bars is most often the end result. As already quoted by other members, check the clearance of the handle grips from the tank at full tilt to both sides. If they don't match up,you sir have a crooked handle bar

Hey Adilkadri123 thank you for the solution. Though the noise has gone by now, but now I know what to do if i face the same problem again. [emoji3]Originally posted by Adilkadri123 View PostHi Raakesh
You might need to bed the brakes. Essentially a few low speed and high speed runs with hard braking without completely stopping. On the last run brake hard and press on the brake pedal really as hard as u can for a minute. Thus should align all the brake components callipers, disc, pads etc and may get rid of the noise.
Best regards

Re: Yamaha YZF-R15 version 2.0
Hi guys,
This thing happened a couple of weeks back.
Bike will turn 6 this October 4th. A couple of bogus issues cropped up.
The connector to the ignition lock wire was loose. So whenever I used to take a left turn the bike died and everything from meter to engine went dead.
The connector is loose from the harness side so there was no option other than changing the wire loom. So tied both ends with a zip tie and job done. The meter sensor got a life of its own and malfunctions regularly.
The T stem is screwed up completely and worn to the point of no adjustment.
A complete overhaul of front end with new T stem and cone set are awaiting.
Engine still the same that came from factory apart from rings.
Tank lost its color. Need a repaint done.
Getting 37-40 in town and 44-48(sedate riding at 80-90 kmph) in highway. Occasional nut job kind of riding on the highway gives any where between 32-37 kmpl.

Kudos to you for covering enough distance on a R15 to go around the Earth 3 times!
Do you plan on getting the affected parts replaced and put on more miles on your humble R15?

Already have the parts with me. Need some time to get things done. Unfortunately time constraints and crackpot SVCs don't allow me to overhaul the affected parts.Originally posted by yamahamann View PostWow! Will hopefully do it myself after I return from the ISG2G ride.
Will move back to steel brake lines. The rubber lines are terrible.
Yeah would definitely continue using this bike. No intention of selling it off or upgrading in the near future. Have got enough headache with all the bikes I have. Not in a mood to add another one

Wish I could join in, or at the least we had some active G2Gs happening around Ahmedabad. Sadly, riding is not a preferred hobby around these parts.
I am going on a Ahmedabad-Udaipur-Pushkar-Mt Abu 3 day ride with a group of my rider friends next week. Enough OT!
I want to upgrade the rubber brake lines of my R15s to steel braided ones like yours. Can you suggest where you procured these and approximate cost involved?
Since you have used them in the past, is it possible to use OEM steel lines of any other bike like the RS 200 which can be bought off the counter?
I agree with your sentiment on headache caused by owning too many bikes and maintaining all of them. I suppose its not very pocket-friendly either.

Quick questions if your time allows-
- How many times tyres have been changed?
- Any loose marbles like metallic sound from the engine at high revs at this stage(not the tappet sound at standstill)?
- That Rajdoot 350 is RD 350 or the original "doodh walo wali bike Rajdoot"?
Regards.

Re: Yamaha YZF-R15 version 2.0
@black asp
That's fair enough with this mileage.Front tyre has been changed 5 times and rear has been changed 4 times.
I've ridden two other 2016's V2.0 including my S, and all had loose marble sound at past 8-9K, I thought that was a norm with this engine after they cross certain thousand KMs. :/No no marble sound at high rpms
Ah! So that's the mighty "Yamdoot".Yes that is a Yamaha RD 350 1989 model which iam yet to restore. It was not called RD350 in India afaik. It was called Rajdoot 350.
I was thinking of the Deluxe and Excel-T model which was created in partnership with Escorts. That was the original milkmen's bike.
Godspeed with further adventures with this little machine brother.

Re: Yamaha YZF-R15 version 2.0
Mine is a 2011 model V2 and afaik the rings are different and are of better quality than the current r15 we get. Probably something to do with that or could be some changes to the resonator box. The new R15 have a closed loop Fi so it could be that their noise suppression system would be different or resonator box could be different.Originally posted by PrinceCruise View Post@black asp

Just 1.84 lakh kilometers more and you can do what no human being has ever done on R15, certain qualifier to reach the lunar surface. That being said, Raza that's a quite an achievement on the motorcycle. I wish you more miles on the bike.Originally posted by black asp View PostHi guys,

Once upon a time, a guy asked a girl 'Will you marry me?'
The girl said, 'NO!'
And the guy lived happily ever after and rode motorcycles and watched sport on a big screen TV, went fishing and surfing, and played golf a lot, and drank beer and scotch and had tons of money in the bank and left the toilet seat up and farted whenever he wanted.

Man it was damn hard initially as much as 150% more than the wired setup. After painful close to 1000kms of running, the clutch as noticeably more smoother and much much much lighter than the wired set up. 1000km was the mark my new clutch wire gets to harden up. Only time will tell whether this set up is really good or bad.Originally posted by vijaycool View PostAlso re adjust the tappet using feeler gauge. 0.12-0.14 mm for inlet and 0.20 for exhaust. Too close valve clearance in early stage fry the valves.
Added Hydraulic clutch for my bike yesterday. some pics

Re: Yamaha YZF-R15 version 2.0
Changed the oil today. The oil had run around 1800 kms with bumper to bumper traffic and occasional madness thrown into the mix.
This is the result.
Was expecting more oil loss but this sort of low oil consumption amazed me too.
One headache struck off the list.
Switched back to 5100 5000 kms back as shell felt like garbage. The new variety of shell doesn't work for me.
