  • Re: Yamaha YZF-R15 version 2.0

    Dear Members,

I recently bought Yamaha R15 V2.0 BS-IV & AHO model on 27th May, 2017 from Torcente Motors, Bengaluru (East) (Yamaha Authorized Dealer). Bike was in a very good condition. I mean everything is working perfectly. But, there is tappet noise from the engine head if the bike is warmed up say after 10-15km of city ride or 25-30km of highway ride.

On 3rd June, 2017, I went for Yamaha Service Center nearby owned by that Yamaha Authorized Dealer, I requested the mechanic to adjust
the tappet noise, lubricate other parts & replace the engine oil. He did the same.

But, after the service on that day when I was cold starting in the evening/night the bike idle rpm is not constant (fluctuating). It started from 1450rpm and after 1 minute of idle it reduces to 1150-1100rpm. Then, when I was roaming at very gentle speed like 50-60kmph in the city, the bike is stalling while I was pressing the clutch in Traffic or in bumps or in potholes. I cannot recognize what is going on the new bike. Why the idle rpm is fluctuating? Why the bike is stalling in traffic while pressing clutch?

    Suggestion needed.

P.S. The tappet noise is gone now.
    Regards
    Saikat

New engine need lot of wear and tear of tight components to bed in. Do not make any changes atleast for 6000kms. I have never adjusted tappets in my 30k run bike.

Also re adjust the tappet using feeler gauge. 0.12-0.14 mm for inlet and 0.20 for exhaust. Too close valve clearance in early stage fry the valves.

Added Hydraulic clutch for my bike yesterday. some pics

Its a fully hydraulic set up using stainless steel braided lines. Only near actuator linkage is rod actuated. Rear brake is also converted to SS braided lines. The set up now look like OEM . Clutch pull is not soft as I expected but pretty crisp.

Nice setup there, Vijay. My thoughts regarding the plunger length was asked by Raza. So, can you post the picture of the slave actuator at the clutch case side? And also a small video as to how long the clutch lever play is, would be very helpful.

                          Cheers!

Once upon a time, a guy asked a girl 'Will you marry me?'
                          The girl said, 'NO!'

And the guy lived happily ever after and rode motorcycles and watched sport on a big screen TV, went fishing and surfing, and played golf a lot, and drank beer and scotch and had tons of money in the bank and left the toilet seat up and farted whenever he wanted.

Hope this helps. Dont expect feathery light setup. It is actually harder than the stock wire. I guess I am messed up with master to slave ratio here. The only advantage is crispy shifts. This would be my ideal setup if it could been 50% lighter than stock. Slave cylinder actuation length is around 1 cm.

Appreciate the heads up. What I'd like to know is, though you've mentioned it, only can it be easy for one to judge the amount of clutch engagement if the clutch lever is freely moving in and out. Are these harder as normal front brakes are when you engage and disengage the clutch or you have lever movement like a normal clutch lever.

                              Cheers!
