Changed the both the tyres to Ceat. Happy with them so far.

Also, I was feeling that the bike's acceleration was not smooth. So went to change the cables. It turns out that one of the cables was attached by only 2 strings and could have snapped anytime. Changing it made a huge difference.

This happened some weeks back. Had some major surgery done to it post this.
New cone set
New T stem.
New speedo sensor.(old one was short circuiting and causing the bike to stop)
Rubber boots for front brakes(Bangalore SVC suck big time. Had to get them from chennai)
Piston oil and dust seals assembly for the front brakes.
Headlight wiring sub assembly.
Repair the main wiring as they were cut and touching the body in many places.

Didn't hammer the bottom races properly so it came off the chassis and the handle was loose. Probably both me and the bike are getting old.
May start my other builds next year so this will be eating dust for the next couple of years. Won't be ridden much.

OHLINS Fsk 106 springkit Yamaha R15 V2

Hi all just wanted to give you the heads up about anyone thinking of upgrading the front forks on the Yamaha R15 v2 to the Ohlins Spring kit.
Ok here goes?
The ohlins spring kit is intended really for track day use even though the ohlins website says
its great for road use?, hmmmmm
This maybe the case if you live in a country where there are pristine roads that are like a pool table
Not the case in South East Asia right?
So what do you do???, well some modifications of course
Ok so what happens when you install the spring kit the first thing you will notice is your bike will raise 15mm in the air (nose high)
The ride will be extremely harsh and your rebound will become very slow which will cause a Bouncy rebound effect as the fork springs will be loading up the rebound spring
The bike will want to drop into corners and also run a little wide at the mid apex also.
So this is what I did after 3 weeks of R@D
First run a lower oil height not 240ml suggested by ohlins but 190mm this will soften the feel of the springs it really gives the rebound a chance to catch up to the spring rate
Cut shorter fork spring spaces to 70mm not the 84mm that ohlins supply add a 2mm washer to the top of the fork spring run no preload if it's a little soft add no more then 3mm of preload
If the bike is running nose high a little bring the fork legs up 5mm in the fork clamps (remember dropping your forks changes rake and trail),
So by doing these mods you will have a bike that still handle great but has better braking as the forks won't dive as much which is a issue in the Ome front forks
If you do decide to go track day riding add 6 to 8mm preload and you will have a bike that will go well on the race track
Hope this helps if anyone is considering buying the ohlins upgrade

Day before yesterday I purchased Standard Spark Plug of my R15 V2.0 (2017 model) to keep as a spare for emergency situations only. Rajajinagar Bangalore Wheels SVC gave me NGK CR8E Plug though I told hime that my bike is new model 2017 version.



I did some research from the part list that, the R15 V2.0 1CK versions (2011-2014) are equipped with NGK CR8E Standard Spark plugs and the R15 V2.0 2FB versions (2014 onward) are equipped with NGK CR9E Standard Spark Plugs. Pictures are taken from the spare part list.





Now, what to do I don't know. Is it okay to use CR8E or should I olx it!

Suggestion needed.

CR8E is a slightly hotter plug compared to CR9E. IMHO it will not be an issue for stock engine.

I have been using CR9E since last 4 years even though the recommended plug is CR8E for my bike. Engine is a lot smoother and refined with it. Also I found engine heats up a bit less with it.
Both my pulsar 220 and R15 run CR9E plugs and it makes a lot of difference

I would say stick to CR9E you can get it in JC road There is a NGK stockist there. Let me find his number and I will update it here.

I know CR9E is a cooler plug & new versions are coming with CR9E, but SVC is not stocking it, I will go JC Road soon and buy 4 pc set.

There is one Yamaha stockist near jc road signal. You will find everything related to Yamaha bikes you need there.
Search for sandhya autospares in jc road and it's beside that shop. Forgot it's name.
They had plugs last time I checked

After Service -R15 V2

Dear riders ,

i have given my R15 V2 for servicing two days back. i had to change my rear tire, chain, chain sprocket and rear brake pad. and my bike used to get 80kmph at 5000 RPM in top gear (6th). But after servicing it is showing only 70kmph at 5000 RPM in same gear. what could be the problem?? help me out riders... need some help..

Check for tyre pressure and also number of teeths on sprocket match with stock. I remember R15 doing 75kmph @5k rpm not 80.

Open the front sprocket cover and see whether the teeth count is 15T or not (written there). If less then it will short gear the vehicle i.e. less kmph in certain rpm, and go to SVC & blame the mechanic. Stock setup is 15T/47T.

as far as remember it used to give 80.. may be less.. but definitely more than 75.. now its just 70.. sometimes 67.. anyways i have given for check up.. let hope for the best..
i think it has something to do with clutch plate.. or sprocket ..

FZ25 is the only 250cc motorcycle in the world to come with a main stand!(?). Anybody checked to see if it fits on the R15? I want it as a paddock stand replacement. I have the RX135 one, but its useless and weak. Plus it's a duplicate so it cant take the weight of the R15. I just need the stand, i'll insert the pin and use it whenever i want the rear wheel off the ground for service.
