  • Re: Hero Impulse ownership experience

So, here are the pics of Rynox bags on and off Impulse.

My short review of the smaller bag is as follows:

Pros- small yet handy bag with few compartments for documents, clothes and electronics. Water resistant zippers and also comes with dust/rain cover. Front pocket with clear plastic for phone/GPS/etc, works well with touchscreens. Converts to a shoulder bag by attaching a strap. Very well made and very good value for money. Perfect bag for overnight trips or as secondary bag for documents and electronics.

Cons- the front clear pocket is located at such a place, that when mounted on Impulse tank, one really needs to take eyes off the road to look at the phone/GPS/etc that's in that pocket. Also whatever you place in that pocket becomes extremely hot on sunny rides as it acts as a greenhouse My iPod actually shut down coz of overheating on my last trip! The bag attaches to the tank via 3 magnets, two on flaps and one in the lower center of the bag, however due to Impulse's tank design, the middle magnet falls on the seat, thus not attaching to anything (I've tried turning the bag around so that magnet is on the tank, but it did not help much). When the bag is converted to shoulder bag, its a little weird looking, but I personally can deal with that.

Now as for the larger one, I can't say much as it is my friends bag, but it is much larger, many more compartments and mounts on Impulse with four magnets on the flaps. It converts into a backpack by unzipping the flaps with magnets (I think its too much hassle) and it also expands by abt 2-3 inches if needed.
It also has a front pocket with clear touchscreen friendly plastic that also unfortunately acts as a green house thus overheating anything you put in there.
This tank bag is big enough to hold all you need for a medium length trip, my friend took it on one week holiday to Puri (700km one way). It comes with some extra straps to secure it on the tank or on the backseat (as you like).

I personally would not have this big one on my tank, but its doable and it does not affect the steering.
Oh, my friend just told me that it's big enough to fit a helmet!

If you have anymore questions don't be shy to ask.

And a suggestion please. What saddlebags would be good for Impulse or one of those rear mounted small cabins would be good!?
I used via terra claw for my delhi to spiti 7 day trip... its perfect to mount and unmount as one unit and sits perfectly on the impulse rear end.... check it out

Anyone has any thoughts on replacing the stock front brake hose with steel braided one to get that "bite" when braking?

I am sure there are plenty aftermarket hoses or hoses for foreign dirt bikes. After all if it fits, why not use it. As far as I know Avenger has regular brake hose, but I might be wrong.

Yes brother avenger has steel raided ones
After market hoses are not always easily available hence I said so, and we all know bajaj spares are easiest to source,
                      A question,
Is it possible to fit impulse shocks on an rx100? If so how and what parts are needed and whats the price?

Got the first service done at 600kms. Total bill was 250Rs. And that only included the engine oil costing 250Rs. No labour cost nothing.
The vehicle was only pressure washed..no wax polish nothing. Sluggish work and chain wasnt lubed too. As i switched lately from KTM to Hero i really dig the customer satisfaction/services that KTM provided post purchasing. Anyways no pain no gain as they say...Bike is superb. But servicing wont be too prefferable at the Hero SVCs now. And ill keep in habit of doing a personal checkup after servicing. Cant rely on those numbheads.
Also ill be switching to a better engine oil now.

They should have charged you 70 odd bucs more and opend the clutch cover and cleaned the centrifugal pump/filter mechanism since you dont have a replacement filter system on your bike, its probably chock a block with iron fillings and lill shavings from the new engine breaking in:banghead:, get it done from local mech? Also you will have to dump the oil if you get this done,

I would suggest you to read the owners manual properly and see what they have mentioned in it regarding free(and afterward payed services)most of the time these guys never clean centrifugal pump or screen filters either you get it done by them forceably or get it cleaned from outside mechanic.
