Re: Hero Impulse ownership experience
Perfect decision bro! If touring is important for u, considering the state of highways in our country u will be off roading involuntarily :-) for this mix of on and off roading there is no better bike today in india.... and on those days when u feel adventourous take it real off road and the bike will reveal its true character. .. believe me I regularly use it like motocross bike in a farm house.... its an awesome all rounder... I have even taken it to kari race track in coimbatore... yes it peaks out 105..... but when I took it from Delhi to spiti on the highway to chandigarh I was holding 100 through and through and it was very well mannered....Originally posted by Ankitvile View PostSold my Duke200 today.
Would be getting an Impulse tomorrow. People are calling my decision weird but i guess Impulse offers way more freedom than duke does. I wish to do big tours on it...untill a bigger cc Impulse is launched.
Any things i required to keep in mind after buying and how is Impulse on touring?? A a little detailed perspective would really help.
Cheers!

Re: Hero Impulse ownership experience
Hi guys ..........hope you are enjoying with your horse (IMPULSE), yesterday a faced a serious issue in my bike , it's SELECT switch on the digital meter is not working and my speedometer console is stuck up with trip A so i can not change it to its main distance .Anyone knows this is a meter problem or wiring issue or i have to change the whole speedometer.
----consecutive posts auto-merged-----
yes i have used this motul fully synthetic 10w40 and i have already crossed 4000 kms , its doing fine. It is more stable at higher speeds and gear shift is more smooth even after 4000 kms ,only problem is its drag and pick up ,its slow comparing to 10w30 engine oils but it's good not best and i think it can go another 4000 kms looking at the quality of mobil after 4000.it costed me 750 at a local shop. So you can give it a try.ENJOY[/QUOTE
if you have already crossed 4000 km and didnt top up engine oil, plz check the engine oil level keeping the vehicle in a centre stand position .impulse consume engine oil more than others .so top up engine oil at every 3000 km(it is written on the petrol tank). i recently did 2000 k trip after filling 10 40 w shell ultra fully synthetic oil. it was only 200 ml balance when i checked oil tank after the trip.i completely drained the tank and used used mobil exra 40 t semi synthetic. it runs smoothly and do not consume more and better than fully synthetic , every 3000 km top up with the same oil.

Re: Hero Impulse ownership experience
Went exploring local today. Got to know her better.
Though she had a nice 4inch nail pierced through the rear tyre. 180kms on the ODO and first puncture....possibly due yo offroads being pretty gruesome today.
And thus found out that fixing the puncture would be a pain in the ass while touring.
Anyways exploring went awesome today....attaching a few pics along.
Cheers !!Code:https://www.instagram.com/ankit_himalayas/

Re: Hero Impulse ownership experience
how did you fix the puncture in a remote place without a centre stand bro?? i want to know as i am going a trip to ladakh from kerala next month...i am much much worried about puncture...a two wheeler with alloy wheels without a tube is very easy to fix a puncture. but a tyre with tube is very difficult to fix as we have to remove the whole wheel from the swing arm and then tyre and then tube very very difficult........Last edited by husqvarna; 05-05-2014, 02:06 PM.

The trail I was riding on was 9-10kms inside from the village. And luckily the tyre punctured on my way back just 1km before from reaching the village. I pulled the nail out and that 1km to the village(and a puncture shop there) i rode @10kph very slowly standing on the pegs keeping the weight off the rear wheel. I didnt had any puncture kit.
As per touring etc. Even im worried about the puncture the most. The problem is the center stand and heres what ive thought :
Ill buy a small scissor jack to lift the rear. Ill carry spare tubes 2-3in quantity...just in case puncture occurs ill replace the whole tube. And will get the damaged tube repaired by a puncture guy. Thats because mending the puncture requires heating the tube and baking the rubber patch on the puncture area (permanant puncture repair) and we CANNOT do this on our own at a no mans land. What people usually do is only rub with the file the puncture area and paste the rubber patch with an adhesive(temporary solution). This type of repair comes off as mine came off yesterday....and then i saw the permanant way. Which can be done at the puncture shop only with proper equipments.
Hence the repaired up tubes will be further used by swapping them completely just in case puncture happens. So keeping this method in mind ill be learning to remove the rear wheel and replace the tubes etc only.Code:https://www.instagram.com/ankit_himalayas/

Re: Hero Impulse ownership experience
Also practice removing the tyre and tube on both wheels atleast 2 to 3 times before the trip... removing the front is a pain with the disc brakes and all... I invested in a pair of tongs and practiced before going to spiti.... but it is worth it ... u will feel immensely confident and self sufficient which will make u ride harder....Originally posted by Ankitvile View PostThe trail I was riding on was 9-10kms inside from the village. the other thing I did was I fixed a cigarette lighter on the bike and carried a small electric pump along.... it works well...
Good luck! Hv fun

Re: Hero Impulse ownership experience
Yepp. Thats pretty much likely to be done before any big bike trip. A pre-ride practice shall really come up handy on tours. Im also getting myself acquainted with the Carb and wiring too.Originally posted by trnaren View PostAlso practice removing the tyre and tube on both wheels atleast 2 to 3 times before the trip... removing the front is a pain with the disc brakes and all... Re: Hero Impulse ownership experience
I have a Rhynox tank bag it mounts with magnets on the tank. Its good, but if you do a lot of jumping around, then the magnets might not be strong enough. Its perfect for highway and a bit of bumpy road. However that same bag comes in larger size and additionally has straps for strapping it onto the back seat, that might be an option for you. My friend has the larger one and he loves it.Originally posted by Ankitvile View PostWent trailing yesterday.
And a suggestion please. What saddlebags would be good for Impulse or one of those rear mounted small cabins would be good!?

Ankit go for RYNOX tank bag and saddlebags. They are one of the best and real value for money. The tank bag can b used both on tank or as rear seat mounted bagOriginally posted by Ankitvile View PostWent trailing yesterday.

you mean you have rynox navigater. rynox large one dose not fit on impulse tank though you can use it as a saddle bag. i did not try them personally but that's what i was told by rynox guys when i called them in the head office. if you or your friend have ever tried it on impulse then few pics will be of great help because i am also looking for a tank bag for impulse with large storage capacity and rynox is a quality product with enough space for storage.
i had used vattera saddel bag and that was a nice experience. i was worried that exhaust might burn it but it did not even after a continues 150 kms run.

Re: Hero Impulse ownership experience
Rynox has only two tank bags as far as I know, I have the smaller one (20liters) and a friend of mine has the large one (30liters). They both fit on Impulse tank, and I will send pics and more detailed review as soon as I get home.Originally posted by bavlo View Posthi
