Re: Hero Impulse ownership experience
I am quite sure that somewhere in the pages of fine print it says that one is not eligible for the warranty replacement.Originally posted by nirvan View PostAnd what happened to Hero's 5 year warranty?
Like for instance if one had installed an alarm on his bike - warranty is VOID.
Miss a service by couple of days/kilometres - VOID.
Let any mechanic other then authorised service centre monkey near your bike - VOID.
In my humble opinion, the five year warranty is a marketing scheme. Has anyone ACTUALLY got anything replaced under that warranty?

Re: Hero Impulse ownership experience
The primary benefit Hero gets because of the warranty is customers are forced to return to Hero authorized service centers for service and maintenance. It is a marketing gimmick, no doubt about that. But then it does work, I have had my speedometer assembly replaced after condensation within during the monsoon last year caused the unit to go kaput.Originally posted by Krishna Gopal Das View PostI am quite sure that somewhere in the pages of fine print it says that one is not eligible for the warranty replacement.

Re: Hero Impulse ownership experience
That's the price, I had confirmed with two authorized spare distributors before buying. Its extremely steep. I think price for most Keihin carbs with TPS from Hero falls in 4k-5k range. For comparison, a Mikuni BS29 from Bajaj costs about 2.2k. I had used a BS29 from another bike, but I never liked its feel as much as the original one even after quite a lot of fiddling around with jets and tuning, may be because of the bigger venturi. I either had an option of buying another carb and calibrating it or buying its original carb. I had already got fed up with all the experimentation and ended up buying a new one.Originally posted by Divyanshp150 View Post5 k?!?!?! Aint that too steep?
I think well under 3 grand at the most ! 5k for a carb is too steep!
Is that really the price? ! Go to the hero extreme thread and inquire plz.

Re: Hero Impulse ownership experience
Would you sell me the main jet from the carb that was replaced? I have my own set of issues with jetting on my Impulse and have been looking for a replacement jet in vain.Originally posted by techiewickie View PostI never serviced it with a Hero ASS, so no warranty mate.

Two questions bro: did the clicking sound go away after you changed the cone set?Originally posted by tej1 View PostGuys recently got my front tyre changed under warranty only I have to pay 400.
I got my metre and cone set replaced when my bike was 3 months old
My bike is 2012 born

And what was wrong with your tyre that it had to be replaced on the warranty?

Re: Hero Impulse ownership experience
Just today I took my bike at morning. It ws ok that time. I rode 3 kms and parked it in the side of the road to get a bus to colag because it ws raining heavily. Then I went to collage. After the class I came back and took the bike. I switched it on. Idled it for some time because the engine was cold. Then I shifted to first , started moving. Then I noticed that the bike is showing some problems. The bike is showing some lag when accelerating. Mostly feels like the front pad is stuck in the disc. Then I stopped and checked both wheels by spinning them. There ws no problem. Then I started off again and its showing the same problem. The bike is accelerating rely slow even when I open the throttle full. Even in 5th gear the bike barely makes it to 40. The engine heats up fair bit. The issue still persists. Can somebody please help?? does anyone know what happened??

Re: Hero Impulse ownership experience
This seems to be a common problem. Normal acceleration till around 4k rpm, then absolutely no pickup even after full throttle. Even I have been facing this intermittently. Problem is caused in the carb.
Beware of mechanics who will point to piston, bore, clutch plates, etc. I changed clutch plates 6k kms ago to solve this problem but no improvement.#The two greatest freedoms known to MAN: 2 legs on 2 wheels#

Carbs are usually clogged in new bikes as impulses were manufactured (and stocked) from 2012. So, please check the carburetor is working fine. Also, check if your choke is ON and works fine. My new bike didn't start at the showroom w/o choke. also my choke was stuck at off. so I had to convince (shout at) the mech to set it right.
Check if there is engine oil! bcos the bike would have been under storage over 1yr, the oil could be sticky!
Impulses accelerate well until 60kmph...
How much did you pay for your Impulse? on the road price?Last edited by pitbull; 06-10-2014, 02:49 PM.
