my bike came pre-fitted with knuckle guards, but the right one (brake) was fitted with a proper bolt long enough to hold it in place.. but the left one (clutch) was fitted with a wrong one so every time i pulled the clutch, it unscrewed a bit and eventually fell off with the clutch lever itself thank god no accident took place.. anyways that was Feb, still they don't have a proper bolt.. so m driving without knuckle guards only.. hero rocks :-/

      • yes niks, i bought them from hero showroom for 36 rs each. But they dont have proper bolt to fit them. They promised today that they'll get them from guwahati next week. So waiting.@ southpaw- im also waiting for just right bolts to fit them. Can you imagine largest selling motorcycle company cant provide bolts! Pathetic. And about knuckle guards fitting, in this summer i think they help your grip to become really hot and sweaty by blocking airflow. But i chose to fit them because they look cool and most importantly i think they will be very usefull in winter by protecting your grip from chilled wind blasts. But in summer i think better to avoid.

        • pillion comfort

i wanna buy an impulse, but i am a bit apprehensive about the exhaust. how is the pillion comfort on this bike? will he feel a lot of heat or will it be nominal for him to sit comfortably through the city ride. also will a lady sit comfortably with both her legs on the same side?
one more question, will the mud guard be effective in rainy season or will it spray a lot of water? if yes, is there any solution for it?
          kindly help me out.
          thanx.

          • @vab63: pillion comfort is very good on city roads as the seat is very long type and not inclined towards the rider like sports bike. But in bad roads few has complained about the back side jumping up and down too much. But in city ride my wife finds it more comfortable then my centra or fz and she easily sits with her both legs one side. Hero sells additional footrests for this type of sitting (though i have not fitted one). The heat of the exhaust is no problem at all as it is well guarded by heat shield. And for mud guard........ Get prepared to get drenched by water and mud upto your knee in rainy seasons. No solution found till today. Look man in my opinion if you want a day to day using bike on which you will carry your grocery or drop your family members, from here to there dont buy it. But if you want a fun machine, something totally different from others with reasonable price and decent mileage close your eyes and go for it.

check on team-bhp forum by searching terrain tamer..there's a wonderful review for impulse. there's also a solution concerning the mud-guard problem but i dont know if that'll be available..
thanx again..hoping to get the bike this monday...

I went on a 250 km off road ride with pillion in summer heat. there was no discomfort with silencer heat and pillion was very comfy throughout the journey.

abt the effectiveness of the mud guard , only rains will tell the real story. although i expect the local jugad of putting a plastic/foam panel on leg guard to work fine on this.

                    • @vab63: one foot on left pillion footrest and another foot on saree guard which is bent slightly outwards from below. No problem at all. If you want more comfort then you can buy the footrest also i told you about. Regarding maintenence it is not a technological masterpiece like r15. Its a simple bike like achiever or cbz xtreme with some offroading capable chasis and long suspensions. So maintenence is as easy as them. As they say you can fill it it, shut it and well... Almost forget it. @niks: seems you havn't rode it in rains & waters. Dont wear your favourite jeans on such day other wise atlast you will be ending it by cursing such a good bike

if the pillion is a lady wearing light salwar and open chappals the heat will be felt while riding in bumper to bumper city traffic. long rides no problem. both legs on the same side is okay as the saree guard is fitted on the opp side to the silencer. i have ridden in rains it is okay the stud tyres dont seem to throw water as much as an ordinary bike tyre.

                        • harikesh sir the tires may be good but the main problem is abscence of mudguard (well actually present but sitting high above the tire). this happened after 20 minutes of ride in rain on national highway. look at the leg guards. you can imagine how my legs were like after the ride and when i opened the shoes they were filled with water inside because of water being constently thrown on them by spinning tire. not faced this on my centra or fz-16

                              • Regarding the plastic mudguard, like the normal street bikes, we can try and bolt metal clamps on the forks, on wick the mudguard will fit, for e.g. this will look like the mudguards on bmw bikes, the question is which bike mudguard to buy?
