    • Hey guys.....had a query....can HID be fitted to Impulse??????

      • Cramster saddlebag fits well on impulse. I have used it for my Ladakh and Konkan rides. I also have custom fitted rear disk brake and will be going for 180cc big bore kit from Joel in this month. I am attaching picture of saddle bag mounted on my bike here for your reference. Hope this helps! Click image for larger version

Do you have any idea about saddlebags, tail bags and other accessories available for the Impulse ? I am yet to start looking at options on that front. A pointer would be greatly appreciated.

              Hi Animesh,

the rear disk brake was fitted in Pune by local mechanic (who also participates in motocross etc) for Rs. 8000. When I was doing practice rides in last apr-jun for my Ladakh ride, I realised that the rear brake may not be strong/ responsive enough for terrains of Ladakh. So I went for it. We also created petrol tank holder with capacity of 15 litres. Both worked beautifully in Ladakh trip. I am attaching a snap of petrol holder for your reference here.

              • I don't think there is any need to change the oil before the first servicing, generally the stock oil put by dealer is good and works fine. Also most of us take good care of bike before first servicing following most of the rules, so it should be ok

                • thanks Amit for your prompt reply. One more quarry i want to put forward. Dose front disk break fluid also comes as stock filled? Because i cant see any oil reaching the minimum level mark provided on a cylinder type box on my right handle, also when i apply front disc break i hear a TICK sound. Is it normal?

                  thanks.
                  love and peace.

                  • Yes it comes filled. Without it the brake will not work So if your brake is working properly then it is filled and it might be full, so you are not seeing the topline. The tick sound is normal, it comes because the switch for brake light is triggered when you apply the brake.

                    • Thanks Amit. I am very new to riding and i appreciate your kind sharing of motorbiking knowledge and experience. One more query dear... manual indicates 22 psi in front and 22 in rear while riding alone and 29 psi while riding with pillion. Is it advisable to keep 29 psi in rear Tyre even when riding alone or we should be changing pressure every now and then or should keep it in between 22 psi to 29? little confused ...

                      Comment

                      • I generally ride solo, so the tire pressure on my bike is 22 for both tires. I dont bother to change it for city rides even if somebody is sitting behind, it doesnt matter really. But if you are going to ride with pillion sometimes and want to follow company instructions then keep it near 25 for back tire. No need to change it every now and then, generally with 29 pressure the ride is not that pliant when riding alone and the grip is less.

                        • My latest weekend ride pictures

Found a new road that connects Wai (near mahabaleshwar) via Raireshwar platu (this is near Pune, Maharashtra). It was a refreshing ride. Attaching some snaps of the ride here.

                            • Posting after a looong time

Well, an year has passed now since my purchase, 15th Jan 2012 - 15th Jan 2013, 10,000 Km were over by then.
Lately I have been using my bike a lot less now, reason being my love affair has now turned to annoyance & plight.

I got my 4th service done from Himgiri Delhi in December.. Well as usual it was a whole day long affair and nothing done other than wash-oil change- add a overpriced 3M additive (?) without my permission in the oil. My indicator LED on the speedo console was not working, they don't have spares for that. In the process of tinkering with it, they messed up my pilot lamp. I realised this after coming home.

The bike vibrates as much as an Apache I guess (..and to think I used to make fun of TVS as Terrible Vibration System, my bad.)
Idle speed hovers from around 900 rpm on cold starts to around 1900 rpm after 25-30 Km, sometimes I can even see the needle wobbling mindlessly when idle. Dunno why this issue is there.

Since about 10-12 days I haven't even ridden my bike and taking the metro to college, reason: terrible wobbling & bumpy ride.
Got pressure checked and stuff, it was fine. Then went to Divine Auto Noida (worst ever, I bought my impulse from there), reached at 8AM and my waiting no. was 32 LOL. After an hour or so, still no mechanics were to be seen and I tried to talk to a lot of people, none seemed interested. Then I met the "alignment guy" and he sad it would take atleast Rs. 500+ for looking at the wheel alignment.

Came back frustrated, and referred to some local mechanic. He said your spokes are loose (strange, this hasn't happened in around 3-3.5 years in my friends' Avenger & Electra)
I took it to a local 'expert' in sector-9 noida. He took 200 Rs., removed front wheel and tightened spokes on the rotary stand,, then could not remove the rear wheel and tightened spokes while tilting the bike on the side stand. Even then the job wasn't done properly. Turns out some spokes are broken. So much for an off-road bike, which has only been driven on Delhi's 4,6 laned paved roads TILL DATE.

The mech recommends that all rear spokes be replaced. 36 new spokes need to be bought but no spares with Hero people as expected. I talked to Uppal Motors as well, and he was 'pissed off' that I asked such questions and almost shooed me off, telling me to call Divine Auto.

I have lost the little respect I had for this company. They are doing us a favor with their so-called service. I have paid my money and hence now I am nobody to them.

On a brighter side, my MBA is about to be over and in the 3rd semester itself I got placed s a Business Analyst in a reputed IT MNC. Will be getting a company cab to-n-fro office, might have to move to Bangalore though. I had thought of taking my motorcycle to wherever my job took me, perhaps even plan weekend tours in south India, placed I always wanted to visit.
Sadly all my enthusiasm has died of late.

My father is insisting not to bother with any more headaches, and put it up on OLX. I have 3 months of college still left, in confusion which decision to take. The company is deaf & arrogant as far as I have seen.

                              • I agree with the overall quality of service offered. Its really bad. Also the spare parts are not available even after follow up. This is happening when the company is still selling the bike. Just imagine what will happen when they stop producing it in coming days (there is a news that Impulse, Ignitor and Mastro will be discontinued soon). Fortunately my bike is running ok till now but has some broken parts (the choke and side stand were damaged in transport from Ladakh to Pune) and I hoping to get them before they stop production. Also want to stock up important parts.
