    1.go to odo MODE
2.hold MODE & SET BUTTONS TILL TIME BLINKS
3.Use MODE to change the hour and SET for minute.
4.HOLD MODE AND SET To fonaloze and confo the time you entered.

Maybe your set button was stuck the whole time because it doesn't shift through the display like that...
Speed, it seems to me, provides the one genuinely modern pleasure.

    • I have put some comments inline based on my 7k kms on the duke, and based also on reports made on the facebook forum.
I do not intend this to be a sales pitch for the bike. I do have one, but don't necessarily think you should get one too.
At the end of the day, there are bound to be some issues in every bike made by every manufacturer.
The fact that the service network is vast, trained and supports the customer in resolving these issues should count more than the issues themselves.
To my knowledge, there is no single factor that is a dealbreaker. There are various niggles, that are easily resolved.
I would prefer to stick with the KTM-Bajaj-Kawasaki marquee, simply because they seem to be committed to our market, and are giving us some excellent bikes.
I have put my money where my mouth is, by owning both the duke and the Ninja 650, a decision not made lightly.

      1) Engine oil leak
Have not faced it, know many dukers with >17k kms on the odo who have not faced it. all ride hard.
      2) Coolant leaking
some dukes i know had faced this, i have not. in one extremely bad case the leak was inside the engine, leading to catastrophic seizure. however, this is not across the board.
      3) Low oil pressure warning
      not faced this.
      4) Chain making khat-khat sound
everyone needs a new chain slider at some point and known DIY to fix this. not a deal breaker in my opinion.
      5) Oil tank leaking
      never heard of this.
      6) Rims cracking and few more
you dump any rim into a pothole or a kerb fast enough, it is going to crack.

I know a lot have been said about the above issues but i would still like to hear from the duke owners what have to say about this. I am a enthusiast and i know how to maintain my rides but these issues will be to much. I have never had these kind of issues in my previous ride(R15) in the ownership of 3 year and i expect the same from the duke. I hope i can get answers for my concern and then i can be one happy DUKER.
      Thanks in advance

thanks, will try to change the time today.
And about the Set button being stuck, i used to press the SET button to quickly change to see other details and it used to work. And also the details used to shift automatically every 5 secs. But since service, these details doesn't shift. Anyways its not at all a big issue.

As can be deducted by going through this ownership (read niggles) thread, you can assume that at least a few troubles will keep bugging you after you become a (not so) proud owner of this bike.

Engine oil leak -- Never faced this problem nor any one faced this problem in my city cuz i visit the SVC every often for some spares and neither the mechanic told about such issue

Coolant leakage - Didnt face this problem also , if the coolant level is slightly above the max and min mark and when going over bumps it flows out as it has a tube attached for the flow of coolant when it is filled more .

Low pressure warning - didnt face this

Chain making khat khat sound - faced this problem in the starting later found a solution of sticking the slider to the swing-arm and the khat khat sound went away

oil tank leaking - never happened in my case

Rims cracking - it is obvious if u run over a pothole at a higher speed they might bend or crack

so far its been more than 9 months i've been riding the bike

i too had niggles but all are solved and now im a happy duker

              cheers

Hello vikundefined, I have clocked 16K Km and wanted to share my thoughts so you can make better decision. From my experience I can say there is no bike in the range of 1.5 L that has no problems at all.Take your time and go through the ownership review here on xbhp on other bikes like the CBR250 or RE etc...the issues they report can be quite a shocker ! You would also most likely see pages after pages of ''ah that broke'' , ''this is rusting'' and things like that. Some may go overboard and exaggerate their view or issue they face with their bike to the point that it is completely misleading.Sadly most pepole who really like their bike dont feel the need to come forward and say they love it - or just too busy riding their bike !

The Duke also has its own set of issues like every other bike. These issues need to be fixed as soon they appear. So one of the most important factor before choosing the Duke is how close is the service center from your house. If the service center is too far (more than 40 min drive) then you would most likely postponed things till the situation gets even worse and you would also likely be cursing the bike all the while.I see some guys who live 100 KM away from the service center and complain how miserable their life is with the bike !

You also need to consider the cost of regular maintenance. It will cost about 8000 rs every 15K km when you would have to replace the sprockets+chain+tyre+brake pads+ others. The service has to be done on time to ensure smooth functioning. There is a list of cost of the spare parts and some tips on maintaining the Duke on the very first post on page 1 ( you are currently on page 584) that might be helpful.

                  1) Engine oil leak
                  This is caused because of

                  -Worn out magneto gasket
                  (or)
-Worn out O ring (this needs to be attended to immediately)
                  (or)
-Bolts on the engine case cover being loose

I have had this issue, the magneto gasket (Rs 120) was replaced and all is well.

                  2) Coolant leaking

This is caused because of filling excess coolant into the coolant tank or the pipe that connects the coolant tank and the radiator is loose/damaged.Just reduce the level of coolant or make sure the pipe is intact and there should be no problem.

                  3)Chain noise

The chain needs to be kept lubed every 500 KM or as and when required and checked for damaged or distorted link. The chain tension will require some fine tuning but ones it is set there is no problem.I had this issue during the initial 2000 KM but has never reoccurred after that.

I havent faced any of the other issues you mentioned.

BOTTOM LINE : I just love the bike and even after 9 months and 16 K KM I still look forward to getting on my Duke every day

Thanks for your reply BPLUS i really appreciate it, guys like you really make me come to these kinds of forum and ask whatever query i have.thanks again

now about the things you mentioned
                    1) it will take me around 40mins to reach the ktm svc
                    2) like you mentioned that duke will cost me 8000 every 15k km( i am perfectly ok with it)
                    3) engine oil leaking seems like manufacturing defect so i can think dis problem will not occur in newer lot bikes
                    4) coolant leaking (if it leaks only if filled in excess then its ok i can manage that)
                    5) chain making noise( if it only occurs when chain is not well lubed or if its damaged then i can take care of that)

all in all i think duke is the bike for me.now i can be one happy duker.

                    • The build quality of the duke is sub par, IMO. But it has quite high spec equipment for the price you pay, so i guess some compromises had to be made somewhere.

When you visit the Service center next time ask them about it or better yet give'em a call and see.
