That's not a problem but do increase the rpm range as the kms pass by. For ex: start off with the max rpm range of 5k uptill 500 kms..then increase it to 6k till 700kms and then take it to 7-7.5k till 1000..Originally posted by Ri$hi View PostIs it ok to rev it all the way to 7k rpm on every gear?

But the bike will go only at a particular speed at a particular gear, Duke being short geared the gear needs to be shifted more quickly comparing with anyother bike. Let me explain in simple terms, for example if a bike is only capable of touching 20km in first gear then any amount of reving is not gonna make the bike go past 20km.

For me it was after the first service. And mind you, this is the story only if shift at 80+ speeds. During normal city riding there is absolutely no problem. Things are butter smooth.Originally posted by Biker@rpm View Posthi shreeda..
even i did face issue regarding gears shifting from 5 to 6.. after 1st service i didn't face that.
other than that i didn't face any other problem.

+1 to those statements. Also, it's better to go smooth on the throttle till fist 1000. Even when you want to rev to 7.5k, do it progressively.Originally posted by Ri$hi View PostBut the bike will go only at a particular speed at a particular gear, Duke being short geared the gear needs to be shifted more quickly comparing with anyother bike. Ya the gear shifting has to be quick..but on the other hand you can take the bike to any speed in any gear. Its all about the riding style.Originally posted by Ri$hi View PostBut the bike will go only at a particular speed at a particular gear, Duke being short geared the gear needs to be shifted more quickly comparing with anyother bike.

When You say you can take the bike to any speed in any gear. Can You take the bike to 60km in first gear? I don't think its possibleOriginally posted by inder.cool View PostYa the gear shifting has to be quick..but on the other hand you can take the bike to any speed in any gear. Yeah Rishi... I went to Cramster in Bangalore last Friday ... just to check out the Breeze jacket.. found it to be a bit heavy for my liking.. DSG gloves are good I guess.. will have to email Shubz and find out about some other foreign brand gloves to get it from outside India..let's see...Originally posted by Ri$hi View PostWe don't have any outlet for DSG in Chennai, check out for cramster.

Even i am in need of good jacket and gloves. I have been visiting/calling this cramster store(aka Sri Velavan Motors aka Royal Enfield showroom on arcot road) since 3 weeks now. They do not have the required gloves/jacket size in stock. They keep on insisting to try out RJays jacket and gloves. I dont want to invest 6k+2k in jacket+gloves without experiencing the other brands.Originally posted by Ri$hi View Post

I disagree. Maximum speed at any gear is limited by various factors.Originally posted by inder.cool View Postyou can take the bike to any speed in any gear. Its all about the riding style.
To be exact, maximum speed possible in any gear is inversely proportional to gear ratio of that gear (Since rest of the parameters defining max speed are constant for a given bike - viz, maximum possible RPM, primary drive ratio, rim size etc)
Taking a bike to 60km on first gear depends on its gear ratio & other parameters mentioned above.Originally posted by Ri$hi View PostWhen You say you can take the bike to any speed in any gear. Can You take the bike to 60km in first gear? I don't think its possible

Thank you.I will go there and check for some rim tapes.Happy DukingOriginally posted by sivigshankar View PostSRKMS at Wellington Plaza is by far the best sticker shop in Chennai / GP Road.. as Rishi mentioned the corner building on GP road that meets Mount Road.. The quality of the work they do is amazing... been going to them from 2000 I guess..
I also have another quick question. Can I use Speed 97 for the Duke ?
