      Design and equipments:
I own the vibrant orange version of CBR and it surely is a head-turner in a big way. Every traffic light you stop, you have several eyes glued upon youurself. The build quality is good. The switchgear is a big disappointment for me as a pass light is much needed in indian conditions. The quality of switches is also poor. Overall CBR 150r scores a good 8/10 in this account.

      Engine:
I don't need to say a lot in this part as this is where Honda is at home. The DOHC 150 cc engine is the best engine out there. It is butter smooth and the sound it produces after 5k rpm, is music to ears. The vibes are minimal even when ridden above 7k rpm. The engine has been tuned for good performance while returning a decent mileage. The bike has returned around 40-42 kmpl
in city riding conditions. The low end torque is a sore point as u need to shift gears at low speeds. But once you get used to it, this bike is just a lethal weapon. Here it scores a very good 9/10 for me.

      Gearbox:
The gearbox is well matched to the engine. The 6 speed gearbox is a charm and performs well. It does sometimes hit false gears while down-shifting but that will surely go away after a couple of services. The CBR 150r scores a good 8/10 in this department.

      Service and Maintenance:
I went through my 1st service today and it cost me 1350 bucks including 2-time teflon coating ( I paid 600 towards it), which is quite good considering the premium bike it is. The service staff took special care of the CBR and addressed every small issue i faced. The service was fast and on time. All in all a perfect 10 in this dept.

I will like to urge all the CBR 150r owners to write to the company regarding the switchgear so that at least we have an option of getting the CBR250R switchgear in our bikes, if not geting a replacement.

Now that i m done with the initial 500km of my bike, i will ride it hard to check its top whack and hope to get down writing my experiences soon.

Till then ride hard and ride safe. ENJOY!!!

I own the Vibrant CBR and regarding ur switchgear, we should insist Honda to produce a different switchgear for the CBR150 which should have the plush feel. Even my cousin who owns a FZ said that his bike`s switchgear is better than CBR! But He cant resist telling that CBR trumps his bike in every other aspect.

I too have false gears both when upshifting and downshifting. I think time will change this issue. Im waiting for the second service next month. Im still amazed how this bike gives a mileage of 47kmpl when ridden constantly in 70-90kmph. Have a good ownership bro!

      • My Bike has till date done 2061 kms.. I just got my second service done.
I spoke to the CBR trained mechanic at the workshop, he told the following:
        1) Oil (Fully Synthetic) Change after 3000kms (First oil change was at 450 kms)
        2) Air Filter after 5000kms
        3) Brake oil after 10000kms ()
        4) There is no way to tighten the front brake ()
        5) He said that the gear downshift issue will be there If i attempt to downshift from high gears (4th or 5th) at very low revs.. And If I attempt the same at higher revs there wont be an issue. I find that description accurate but wonder why ?

What do you guys think ?

The same day an R15 owner came to chit chat with me, he wanted to know the performance of the bike (compare it to R15 )

After the second service bike is a lil smoother...

In my city i.e Kolkata I find CBR 150 has become a common sight (much more common than VFM Duke )
in spite of the fact many a critics attempted to write it off as too pricey . So much so that everyday I see a minimum of 2-3 CBR 150s everyday.
And not to mention the truckloads of CBRs that arrive at my dealer's only to vanish in no time.

How Is the CBR sales in your city ?

        • I was finally able to test ride the cbr150r today at Honda showroom at lajpat nagar, Delhi. The good thing was showroom guy was cooperative enough to give the TD on the main road as opposed to the jammed road in front of their showroom. So it was easy for me to make a decent opinion on cbr's ride-ability. The guy was, obviously, sitting behind me and to my good surprise I did not find any "lack of torque issue" at low/bottom end, especially when riding with a heavier pillion. The bike pulled pretty easily in each gear upto 4 (didn't get to use the 5th & 6th gear due to traffic condition). I had to move up and down a fly-over which was on the way and as I mentioned, the bike pulled pretty easily. The highlight was the smooth engine and it does rev pretty fast. The bike changes directions very easily.

All in all, it was an impressive test ride. Congratulations to the owners

After my first service i rode the bike with the CBR mechanic and he asked me to change my riding style. He told me to slow the bike down and then shift the gears else it may damage the chain and engine. I didnt get his point , but it surely has reduced the false gears to a large extent.

The same day a fresh stock of bikes arrived and of 10 bikes that arrived 4 were CBR 150's. On enquiring i found that all the bikes were booked and the salesperson told they ordered for 10 bikes and gt just 4 as it is not in stock t the manesar plant. He told that CBR150 has picked up sales suddenly and they are getting 1-2 bookings each day. Good news guys!!! Finally markets responding to a great product.

Brake oil change at 10000kms?? My front brake oil is already low and rear is halfway. I have to change it in next service.

Regarding the sales, im yet to find a CBr150 in my cityon road(Chennai),but have seen a lot of CBR250`s. To my surprise I saw 3 CBR 150 on my tour to south. One in Coimbatore, one in Erode(NAtive town) and one in Tirunelveli. Of all the above places, only one is city.

I doubt that oil change. Cause, Honda just uses the same oil which comes with the bike from factory throughout its life for every bike. If 'Air Filter' and 'Air Cleaner' are the same, then it is once in 16,000 km replaceable, as per owner manual.

There are no Honda accessories like that of what Yam provides. Probably., we should source them ourselves as aftermarket products. Btw, congrats on your choice!
The limiter kicks in @11,500 rpm just within a second after the first shift..And, that's where the fun begins !! ;)

                        • @Neevarp,

There are accessories for CBR 150 r. A guy posted about a poster picturing the accessories in this thread. He saw it in a Honda dealer I think he is from north India. One accessory I saw in that was a orange paddock stand which costs about 2500(I think). I saw even rim stickers as an accessory in that poster.

You need to shift at the optimum rpms i.e. engine speeds. For eg. if you are doing 40kmph on 5th and you want to down shift, you need to pull in the clutch, blip the throttle (for a quick increase in rpms) and then downshift. If you dont and just pull the clutch in and downshift you will have that 'thad' sound and could possibly damage the internals.
And always ride at the optimum rpms and dont 'lug' riding at low speeds in higher gears.

Rev matching & gear changing technique This will give you some idea on gear shifts.

Is that so..,?? I should have missed it. I'll try finding it.
